Always great food and great service. I’ve never had a complaint about anything. Best Caesar Salads and French Onion Soup I’ve tried.

Delicious! We had dinner and it was more pricy than the $$ that Unilocal states, I would give it $$$ or $$$$, we had dinner for 2, the bill totaled $ 110, we did not have any alcoholic drinks, only tea. Otherwise, the food was superb! Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend for date night or just a great meal out. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff as well.

After arriving in Winnipeg, staying at the Fort Garry hotel, we made a reservation online at the Promenade Restaurant. We walked to the restaurant, through the old train station, across a park at The Forks and then across a new pedestrian bridge to Saint Boniface, the French community across the Red River from Winnipeg. The Promenade is right at the foot of the bridge, easy to spot. It looked a bit unassuming from the outside. Inside it was comfortably cool for a hot summer day. We were greeted by friendly staff and quickly seated. Service was attentive and friendly. Our meals were perfect and delicious and the wine list quite good. I would recommend this restaurant highly!

We had a very nice meal. It was great to be able to make reservations for our party of 8 so we could walk right in and be seated. The food was good, and the service was very gracious. This was our second visit to the restaurant. I’m sure we’ll be back.

I think we had a party of 12 or so and the restaurant accommodated us very well. The nice thing about it was that while people started coming in, the table was allowed to be seated — instead of waiting on everyone having to be present to be seated. I can’t remember the waiter’s name, but he’s french canadian and the guy was top class. He was knowledgable about the menu and answered questions about different types of wine and beer and made recommendations based on our likes. Another thing that I appreciated about him(and I wish I knew his name) is that he reminded us the gratuity was included in the bill. The meal, overall, was great. I devoured the poutine with tourtierre meat and my wife ordered the mussels and I would say that those mussels were among the best I ever had. The sauce was garlicky and citrusy and delicious. What we needed was some bread to soak the remaining sauce up. The main courses were delicious, too. I had half an order of the maple glaze pork tenderloin and it was delicious. The potatoes didn’t have very much flavor. My wife had the slow roasted lamb shank and I would have ordered that instead of my pork tenderloin. The meat of the lamb literally fell off the bone and the accompanying vegetables were delicious. The mashed potatoes and chick peas were well seasoned. The only reason for 4 stars was that we felt like we were waiting a while for our food. And the restaurant wasn’t terribly busy.

I have eaten at Promenade a bunch of times and the food has always been very delicious. My favorite item that I’ve had was their Gnocchi. It was in a rich, creamy sauce that made you crave more with each bite. Save room for dessert and you will be glad you did! They have an extensive collection of desserts that they make in house.

A dinner party of about 30 people was reserved ahead of time. Drink service was very slow and the waiter never came back to take more drinks. Assigning two waiters for a party of 30 plus 4 more tables in the area was not a wise idea. I decided to order extra knowing I might not get the opportunity again. Being a big party, we were given a choice of 3 main entrées. All were on the pricey side, especially for the amount of food we got. I’m not expecting buffet size, but a little more than what we got. I ordered the New York steak with peppercorn sauce. The side dishes were delicious! The steak, not so much. It was supposed to be cooked medium, but was more like well done. Crème brule was great! Now all this does not make a 2 rating. What topped it off was the bill. Menu price and the price we got on the bill were different($ 3 more per meal). Okay, maybe it was a mandatory gratuity charge for a large group. No problem. Then the waiter comes back with new bills with the $ 3 per meal AND the gratuity. So what gives? Apparently the extra $ 3 per meal is a wastage charge because we didn’t pre-order from the menu of 3 entrees before we even got there. If that’s the case Promenade Café and Wine, then let us order off the main menu OR make it simple and list the total price of the meal instead of adding $ 3 after. Not smart business practices in my opinion. Although the food was descent and atmosphere ok, I would rather spend my money somewhere else where with first class prices come first class service.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you’re seated and have a look through the menu, it feels like a nice break from the craziness of the world. Service is attentive and friendly. Linen napkins are neatly folded and placed under heavy flatware. The wine list is extensive, desserts are made in house and there is a good selection. The teas here are phenomenal. Everyone gets their own large pot with excellent quality loose leaf tea for a surprisingly low price of $ 3! I came for snacks once and dessert once so I can’t speak to the entrees but both times I was impressed with the food coming out of the kitchen. Try the smoked salmon appetizer. You won’t regret it.

I still have not made it by here for anything but lunch over. all it is good, and I need to get here for dinner. Based on lunch there are other places that supply good food at a good price.

I wasn’t expecting much at this place from a dinner perspective. The lunch I had was well and fine enough but dinner always sets up a different level of expectation. I have to say I was delighted by the meal here and I attribute that to the change in ownership. Top marks to our server! I really believe that service makes the experience go from good to great. Our server was extremely knowledgeable which was reflective in the great recommendations he provided on the wine, starters and mains. They have a great wine selection here — by the glass and by the bottle. The food here is definitely French. I like that you can order half and full orders for almost everything in the dinner menu(starters, salads and mains). We started with a full order of moules frites in a blue cheese cream sauce. The mussels were perfectly cooked, very large and very tender. The sauce was perfect with just the right amount of blue cheese flavour coming through so that it didn’t overpower the mussels. The matchstick fries were crispy and delicious. The 10 ounce NY steak($ 29) was super tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I opted for the brandy peppercorn sauce which had a good flavour but could have been more rich and thicker in texture. Otherwise, a solid steak dish with excellent cooked veggies and mashed potatoes. The seared salmon($ 24) with lemon, caper and white wine sauce was also a hit. It was cooked just right — crispy exterior and not overdone inside. Not sure if you can catch live music every Saturday evening but starting at 9 pm, a small jazz group came in and performed. I’m glad they came later on so that we could finish dinner first but the music was a great surprise addition to the evening. The exterior of this place could use a change to match the renovated interior. And honestly, I wish they changed the name of the place so that it’s obvious to people that management has changed and that it’s a different restaurant! Cause this place really needs to distinguish itself from the previous Promenade. Whenever I mention this place, people always say«the food is not good there.» But that’s because they haven’t tried it recently! Great food and service!

When I travel for my work, I look for the local places I would feel comfortable in and still have an amazing meal. This place fits the bill. I asked what the special was and was told it was Chilean seabass, grilled with lemon beurre blanc over a basil pesto couscous risotto. I also chose a house salad with strawberry vinaigrette over mixed greens, red pepper(which strangely tasted like apple to me), and tomato. Perhaps it was just that I arrived after 8PM and they close at 9 so they gave me a huge portion… but it was fresh and tasty. Bread was also served with some housemade herbed butter. I finally gave up on finishing the salad and the main course was delivered. I was amazed with the combination of flavors and made sure each bite had a little fish and couscous… mmmmm, so good. It was getting late and I was the only one left but still hadn’t had the complimentary(with the daily special) dessert, a vanilla crème brûlée with a fresh strawberry garnish. It went perfect with the coffee. Allison was the perfect server and she actually remembered me when I visited over a year ago. She was friendly with interesting conversation, never rushed me, and made sure I had everything I needed. Even the Chef, Neil Higginson said hi and asked how everything was. I was told they are under new management as of last December but it was just as good this time as it was about a year ago. The interior has new furnishings but it is still a very friendly, comfortable place to get great food and talk to friendly people. Pricing is reasonable, my special was about $ 25 including dessert.

What a disappointment. We booked our Christmas party here for work. It took the waitress and waiters close to an hour to take our drink orders. It took an hour and a half to get our salads. A simple 3 course meal took over 3 hours. Food was god, but really not worth the wait.
