If your thinking of going here for breakfast… Go to subway. And that’s saying a lot for Winnipeg. We went to Blaze on Sunday Morning and they were having a large group. We waited over 30 minutes for service an English muffin, and sausage. We had to flag down someone for tea refills. The wait staff was very inattentive. The food quality(sausage) was very poor. We did not go back for the rest of the 4 days. How can this be part of the amazing Delta!!!

There was a concert downtown tonight and the restaurants were jammed. I don’t usually eat in hotel restaurants but I didn’t have much choice. So I had supper at Blaze Restaurant & Lounge in the Delta Hotel … and I’m glad I did. I sat on the lobby side rather than inside the dining area. I ordered a Berkshire Pulled Pork Sandwich(without coleslaw) and smashed potatoes. The potatoes were good but really peppery. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious … the bun was soft and tasted almost buttery Allen was my server. He was friendly and despite the concert crowd, made sure I was taken care of.

Blaze Bistro is located inside the Delta Hotel. It use to be a decent place for lunch but I went there recently for lunch and found that the menu was quite small and boring. The menu was anemic — there were the usual salads to to choose from — caesar, spinach, taco etc. Some burgers and wraps. That’s it. Pretty bad for a hotel restaurant. The server seemed disinterested and was not very attentive even though there place was only about 35% full with other servers on hand. It took forever for the bread basket to arrive. Things only got better when we realized that we had no bread plates. I asked the server if there was a soup and salad combo. The server was confused(not sure why) but he ended up ordering me a half Greek salad and the soup of the day, which was a creamy vegetable pasta soup. The Greek salad was a good size but was full of green lettuce(that’s not a Greek salad!), not very many cucumbers. But strangely enough, lots of olives… usually it’s the other way around. The soup tasted like Campbells soup(that’s not a good thing) and I didn’t find any pasta in there. Not sure why he described it as a pasta soup. All in all, $ 14 after tax. Better off going to some café for lunch.
