I took a few days off and bunch of friends and I drove up to Whistler. The plan was to play a few high end golf courses, bike a bit, and in general chill for a few days. The first course we ended up playing was Nicklaus North Golf Course. Everything here is top rate! When you drive up you are greeted and someone looks after your golf clubs. The pro shop guys have a friendly disposition, and readily engage with customers. We got to the course a bit early so we had lots of time to go to the range and warm up. The range is a bit small but it allows one to work on all facets of the game… driving, iron play, chipping and putting. Unfortunately, my game did not improve because of the warm up! The golf course itself was in immaculate condition! I don’t know if there is a water restriction in Whistler, but the fairways and greens had a lush green hue! The mountain and water views on the course are nothing short of spectacular! My average photography skills do not do this golf course justice. I have to say it was not the best conditions to play golf. I’ve played this course a few times and I kept telling people this is an easy course! The Golf Gods punished me for my brash and boastful nature today! There was a strong unpredictable wind and it was difficult to really gauge distances. I shot 45 in the front and than had a clusterF#&k of a back 9 and shot 51. I was disappointed with my 96, but I guess that’s golf… you’re always thinking you can do better… I think the green fee is a bit pricy…(north of $ 150 range), but if you only play this beautiful course once or twice a year you are treated to some of the most beautiful views you can find on any B.C. golf course.

After a bike ride around the lake we stopped here for lunch on their patio and the food was fantastic as well as the view of the 6th hole… I think! We’ll have to come back and actually play a round!

I’ve played here numerous times and all rounds were enjoyable. For some strange reason, I don’t really like the layout of this Jack Nicklaus designed course. Not that there is anything wrong with it. You get great service on and off the course. The grounds keeper does a good job keeping the fairways and greens in good shape. There are nice views of the mountains and surrounding trees and forests.
