Are here twice for dinner and every day for breakfast while staying at the Westin for the week. The dinners were significantly better(that part I’d give 4 stars) than the breakfast. Yes, we had the buffet because I had already opted for the breakfast coupons as my SPG Platinum gift. Those, however, only cover the continental portion and unless all you want is a carb overload breakfast, realistically you will be paying the $ 11 upgrade to the full buffet for mediocre eggs. Even the fruit is part of the main buffet — not the continental section. Convenience however beat the desire to find other breakfast options. To be fair, I find most ski town breakfast options lacking so it’s about on par with expectations.

As we stayed in the hotel, we came everyday for breakfast as it was the most convenient for us. The service was ok and restaurant was big but there were areas around the buffet and dining hall that could have been a little more clean. Getting to the food, they had a good egg station(2 chefs making omelettes/frittatas/eggs Benedict of your choice), a bit of a decent fruit station but a sub-pair waffle/pancake station. The breads were good, hot oatmeal good but the juices were lacking a bit as they only had 2 flavors. Overall, the food that was there was good, but I was hoping for a bit better quality(waffle/pancake) and also quantity(fruit/juices) than what was there. Overall, for the price we paid it was good(as breakfast wasn’t included in our stay, it came out to for 35CAD/person for the buffet). Like I said earlier, the service good, food was ok and price was fair if you are near the base of the mountain and want to get something quickly before hitting the slopes, this place is worthy of a shot. Buon appetito.

We went for dinner over the holiday week. Food was good; we liked the scallops, salmon 3 ways and seafood pasta. Wouldn’t recommend the mac and cheese. Our server was attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was a bit odd(large room, very high ceilings, and freezing cold — people were actually wearing ski jackets at dinner). We’ll try a few other places in town before coming back.

Four of us came for dinner on Dec 29. We ordered — Salmon tasting — did not taste the freshest — Beef carpaccio — OK — Mushroom risotto — a bit salty — Mussels — Penne arabiatta — Seafood linguine The food tasted OK but seem a bit heavy. Mussels were very small. Service was great. We had chocolate lava cake which was very basic. Raspberry and mango sorbet was good.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday here. The food, drink selection, and customer service was outstanding.

Our server, Eduardo, was great. Food was really good, beer good, wine good, staff very polite. The only issue is our steak was a bit over done for ‘medium’ but it still tasted very good. I’m a beer snob, they only had two IPA’s, but both were really good(one must have used citra hops, it had a hint of grapefruit to it. This is a great place for families that want a nice setting, good food and not breaking the bank. Is it cheap, no, is it stupid expensive… no, especially with the exchange rate. For less than $ 200 Canadian we had a very nice dinner for two adults, two kids drinks, appetizer, etc. Compare that to what we spend at Mama’s Fish House in Maui and it’s a good deal. Granted Mama’s Fish House is on a whole different level of food quality, but the fact both are great with kids says a lot.

My first morning at The Westin started off with a visit to their resident restaurant — the Grill & Vine — for breakfast. They offer a breakfast bar buffet — which includes a custom omelette bar and looks good — but is also VERY expensive — $ 32 to eat off the buffet! So I ordered an Omelette off the menu — the Smoked Salmon omelette — which also comes with Asparagus and goat cheese — I asked them to throw some spinach and mushrooms in — which they did. The food took a little while to come out — they were not very busy when I arrived. It took 15 minutes from the time I ordered until the food arrived. Which is not bad — but when you are hungry — it seems longer! The omelette was outstanding! About $ 19 and change for breakfast. While my omelette was very good, we opted for other places the rest of the week to eat breakfast that were a bit more affordable.

We went to Grill and Vine for Valentine’s Day and we had an amazing experience with all of the staff, especially Lindsay! He made our Valentine’s Day dinner special, intimate and fun! The Buratta salad, Beef tenderloin as well as the flour less chocolate cake were amazing!

I would give this place 4.5 stars if Unilocal allowed it. We came here as a last minute option for Christmas Eve dinner. We had the set menu, $ 69 per person. The food was great: the appetizers were pretty much perfect. Only thing is would have liked a tad more seasoning and a slightly larger portion of the risotto. The apple and chestnut soup was superb, as was the bison carpaccio. The entrees were also very good, but nothing really unique. We had gotten the turkey and the lamb. The dessert was the pleasant surprise of the night. We didn’t think we’d like it when we saw it on the menu, but it was very, very good! It was a unique, simple, but flavorful dessert that completed the evening wonderfully. Service was excellent. The only thing that was inconsistent were the drinks. The martinis were great, the Caribbean hot chocolate was OK, and the wine was overpriced. You could get a $ 40 bottle of wine at Araxi or Table 19 that is 2x better than the $ 70 bottle of wine we got here. Overall, we had a great Christmas Eve dinner. The environment was perfect, as was the food!

We are staying at the Westin but our awesome concierge who has hit a home run w each recommendation — so we were surprised that he didn’t recommend this one since it is right on property and lauded as best new restaurant. So we went… Seated immediately as there were not many tables filled… then we waited, and waited. Finally we asked for our server and she came but was v abrupt and we had to ask her a few times for stuff. Food took forever but she rarely came to inform us re status. When my 6 yr old niece finally said — let’s leave, I asked and she said well we are really busy and we are waiting for your pizza. Hello what about salad and our starters. When she walked away — 6 yr old logic looked at me and asked«how are they busy there’s not many people here???» Then she said«oh that’s why M—(our concierge didn’t tell us to come here!!! we should have listened to M!» Server came and she said«do u want us to just box the pizza for you??» Now why would we want that when I have a hungry six yr old and we are staying in the hotel. Not far for us to go… Food finally came — tarter tots were ok, salad was great, but pizza subpar. Overall good was ok, service ruined it. Not often a 6 yr old would comment on it but she had a lot to say! She even opted to pass on dessert because she said she will be 10 by the time she gets to eat it! Yeah she’s funny…

Often times you don’t expect much from a restaurant located inside a hotel but this was a fantastic choice and you can’t beat the proximity to the base of Whistler Mountain. Really enjoyed the confit rabbit rigatoni and the mushroom truffle soup. Will be back for sure, thanks also in part to great service.

One of the most conveniently located food spots if you’re staying at The Westin! Really great selection of options on the menu for everyone. They have a wood stone pizza oven — always awesome! Lovely wine flight.

Staying right in the hotel meant that visiting this restaurant downstairs was a convenient option, particularly for breakfast, as the buffet was included in our daily room rate. We aren’t big eaters, so we don’t normally do buffets and we certainly wouldn’t pay $ 30 each for breakfast, but as it was included, we took advantage. Their breakfast buffet is a cut above in that there are chefs on hand to custom-make hot dishes such as omelettes, bennies, French toast or anything else you can dream up. There were many other hot and cold items at the ready also — overall, a wide and varied selection for just about any taste. We visited once for dinner and have to say that while the service was excellent, my food was just OK. I selected the mushroom papardelle and the portion was truly generous. The pasta was excellent(I suspect house-made) and the variety of mushrooms interesting, but overall the dish was bland and could have used a lot more seasoning or perhaps a touch of a creamy sauce — the jus just wouldn’t adhere to pasta and remained in the bottom of the bowl. I know restaurants rely on wine and liquor sales to drive up the profit margin, but charging $ 47 for a bottle of wine that retails for $ 17 kinda hurts. I started out the meal with a French 75, in which I could barely catch a whiff of gin — disappointing, as it was $ 14 for the one beverage. As another reviewer pointed out, do watch the by-the-glass wine list for portions and price points, as the font on the menu is teeny-tiny and you may be surprised to receive only a two-ounce pour when you feel like you’re paying for a full six-ounce serving.

$ 64 for 2 glasses of Beringer’s Cabernet Sauvignon! Seriously? We thought we were ordering a $ 10 glass of wine when the server asked me if I wanted a 6 oz. glass of wine. This is normally what most restaurants serve when I responded yes. When we got the check, we called the manager over because we thought there was a mistake and it was pointed out to us that the prices were listed on the menu. Upon closer scrutiny,(you need reading glasses) to see that $ 10 was for a sip(2 oz), $ 32(6oz) and $ 40(8oz). We paid for it but felt it was deceiving as we have never seen this type of practice in restaurants. Also, we were seated in a small section in the back that was not anything like in the pictures. Even though it wasn’t crowded, it seemed no one was seated in the nicer part of the restaurant. Instead we got seated at plain looking tables with no tablecloths next to the kitchen. We were dressed nicely and not impressed with the boring décor. We were staying at the hotel so we were surprised that management didn’t handled the situation better.

We went here not expecting much since most people say you shouldn’t eat where you sleep if you want it to be good. We were blown away, it tasted better than it even looked coming out of the kitchen. The crab cake was the best I have ever had and everyone else at the table was pleasantly surprised. I would eat here again in a second and the seafood here was amazingly fresh.

Breakfast buffet was excellent. Vegetarian options are adequate. But a bit pricey since I don’t eat fish and sausages. $ 30 per person. Sigh. Free juice plus refills though. Chef can make you an excellent omelet or over hard eggs. I cant stand over easy eggs. Salmonella anyone? They had an array of cheese, especially boursin. Oui! Also, several fresh fruits. Ambiance is great. Waitstaff prompt, personable and professional.

Very disappointing. We came over for our last dinner @Whistler with 4 friends. Service was very poor with multiple mistakes made by the staff. Food was mediocre at best. The only thing going for the restaurant is the décor which is very nice

Really nice restaurant at the Westin. Ate a bunch of meals here. The servers are smart, well trained and knowledgeable. Cheese tray is well put together. Very good wines by the glass. Kids menu is quite well done. caesar salad was perfect one, overdressed the 2nd time.
