U-Haul Moving & Storage of Victoria

So I have never come across a company that is 5-​star on the first visit and below a one-​star on the second. What a difference a month makes.
Initially I brought in a loaded truck during my move, and the staff was extremely gracious and helpful to ensure that my load could be transferred to their U-​Boxes. Nothing but 5-​star all the way.
Now return a month later to get my stuff…
I followed the website’s instructions to contact them 3 days before wanting to unload the U-​Boxes. In fact I phoned about a week prior and then went in person 3 days before, just to make sure. I was on a strict timeline and couldn’t really afford hiccups. However, upon getting there at the appointed time, the truck was ready but the U-​Boxes were not. It is irritating when a customer is told something is ready, but it’s not.
Although time was a precious commodity on the day I needed to re-​load my belongings, mistakes can and will happen, and accommodations can be made to alleviate the inconvenience.
Then the girl at the counter spoke…
The complaining to her supervisor (over the radio and nice and loud) was a little unprofessional, but the response to my question of the purpose of providing the 72 hour notice of «Do you think I can snap my fingers and they magically appear?» (and emphasized with a snapping of the fingers) I can only equate to someone that was there to fill in a vacancy and not a full time employee who understands the basics of customer service. I will provide a small clue of the problem:
Question: Who pays your wages at the end of the day? (I’ll give you a hint — the customer)
There are other companies available to rent trucks and store belongings. Victoria has more of those than available rental units. 3 minutes of lousy customer service erases everything built up in the customer relationship. I can only hope that the manager of the business reads this and deals with it. Mistakes happen — bad customer service is 100% avoidable.

Moving is one of the top 5 most stressful activities a human can go through. It’s nice to know that here in Victoria if you need to rent a truck and some equipment, you’ll be looked after by super friendly staff in a quick and efficient manner.
