Roots – Victoria

the manager is very rude and never addresses issues. I refuse to shop here anymore. also the quality isn’t what it used to be :(

Haven’t been to Roots since my last trip to Canada (5 years ago at least). I’ve always loved the clothes and stopped in to check out their new stuff. The employees were all really helpful and the manager was especially nice. I asked him if they still had black lanyard key chains, he said they don’t make them anymore. I mentioned how I used to have one but it was stolen a while ago and I really liked how it looked. The manager immediately pulled out his black lanyard from his pocket, took off his keys, and handed it to me and said, «Here you go, you can have this one». I was so taken back – is this guy for real? It was just such a nice gesture and I wanted to let others know about the amazing people that work at this store.

This particular location of Roots is my favorite and the only one that I’ve given 5 stars. The size of this Roots is comparable with some other Roots locations but they are the most well stocked Roots location with clothing in my sizes, and it was at this location that I discovered Yoga Jeans! :)
Roots is one of my favorite clothing stores ever. The Roots clothing style is very classy, but comfortable and still somewhat stylish. They also draw a lot of inspiration for their women’s clothing from yoga, and I love yoga so maybe that explains it. Their sweaters and wraps are beautiful and I’ve found the best yoga jeans here (separate brand but I haven’t found many places that carry them). They also make quality leather goods, and have neat country and hockey clothing lines.
It’s a good thing that there’s no stores in the States or I would be broke. But, it’s also a shame that there aren’t more stores in the States because of the sales and provincial taxes in Canada, but here’s to supporting Canadians through my addiction to Roots! ;)

A fairly decent selection of clothes at this location, so-​so on the leather goods. However the people in the store weren’t too helpful — I was ignored for most of the visit, which was unfortunate, and didn’t end up purchasing anything. That said, they had a decent amount of sale items around and everything was nicely organized (and it is Roots, so I find the quality and styles typically pretty good).
