We had a very nice dinner here with our one year old son. Staff were incredibly nice and accommodating, and took turns entertaining the little guy. Drinks were cheap and cheerful during happy hour and our meals were delicious. I had the salmon with roasted yams and other veg(yum!) and my husband had the curried chicken pasta(also yum!). They did a chicken breast with veggies for the baby for $ 6.95. All good.

Had their express soup/sandwich/salad lunch and it was VERY tasty — today’s offering was a Chipotle Tomato Feta soup with a Crab Cake Sandwich with Lemon Aioli and a nice little salad with walnuts and goat or bleu cheese. I would give the food 5 stars, however I would give ambience/service 3. The décor in the lounge side was dated(or maybe just classic/retro?) as evidenced by all the other customers being elderly at lunchtime today(there’s nothing wrong with that, of course, just might be telling). Also, our server wasn’t necessarily bad or rude, but seemed a little less than enthused to be there.

This is one of Victoria’s best kept secrets! Sadly, the prime rib wasn’t on the menu when we ate there last night, so I had the top sirloin instead — outstanding! Charred to perfection on the outside, and rare(as ordered) on the inside. My husband had the lamb chops, which were also delicious. Both our entrees were accompanied by a lovely risotto and grilled vegetables. We’ve eaten at F&W at least six or seven times, and were never disappointed in the food or the service. Really an excellent downtown choice.

The free continental breakfast is totally worth it. The lunch wasn’t anything special. They served my lunch with these greasy pieces of bread which I nicknamed«grease bombs». It’s only good if you go for happy hour and not order food. Happy Hour also seemed to be for serious businessmen who cause the waiters to drop whatever they are doing and rush to their tables to serve them before anyone else. It was amusing to see, won’t lie.

Seafood is amazing and they didn’t hesitate to make my vegetarian son a grilled cheese sandwich(not on the menu). Very pleased with the courteous staff and service we received.

If you have the word chophouse in your name then i don’t think it is too much to ask to have a few steaks on the menu. Only one, and it’s a sirloin? Check the menu selections before you decide to eat here. No fresh seafood either.

The sirlion beef was not as flavorful as it looks and the part where there were pieces of brown objects on it scared me. The potato on the side was not too bad but might be better if made more crispier. Our assistant was not bad but seem to talk without detail. The house made ice cream tastes fantastic but the pumpkin one seemed to be rushed and looked like clumps of cream gathered in a way that made me not want to eat it. Still I like the designs ignoring the fact that a mini christmas tree was blocking the last letter at the front door.

I enjoy visiting Marriott Hotels when on vacation and the restaurants within to try some local drinks! I had a local brew on draft but forget the name(it was a stout I think). Prices were typical for a Marriott, and they even had happy hour! Service at the bar was prompt and polite. The décor was nothing special, it was 4 star hotel typical. A few people at the bar were enjoying food with their drink and it looked pretty good. The bar menu has a mix of seafood and other items, including ribs, eggrolls, poutine and sandwiches. The lamb burger sounded very unique too! The patio looked enjoyable and was quite busy.

We stopped in for our free Platinum member continental breakfast during our stay and were rather disappointed. The staff was not well equipped to handle the breakfast rush, the selections on the continental breakfast were not extensive(or fresh), and the atmosphere was nothing special. If your breakfast is free like ours was, I guess give it a try, but if you are a paying guest I recommend visiting somewhere else.

Delicious seafood in a quiet location. Would definitely dine there again. Our group had arrived in town earlier in the evening and wanted to have a seafood meal. After consulting and reviewing everything on Unilocal we decided on the fire /water restaurant based on their posted menu(via website). Décor wise the space was okay… Not one to judge we were seated and happy with the vibe of the space. Our server helped us decide between the prefix and courses… my mother-in-law went prefix and the size /portions were perfect. The appetizers were delicious and easy to share for the 3 of us(non-prefix). Mains were a knockout and everyone loved the flavours and combos. If you’re near underage, bring ID, they’re pretty strict on carding. But it did not impact our evening meal. Also worth noting, while we weren’t staying at the hotel, the concierge was very helpful with suggestions on things to do.

If you are staying in Victoria then this is a great place to stay and eat when you don’t know where else to eat. I loved the service here.

Stayed at the Marriott and had breakfast here three days in a row. The quality of the food is good and the service pleasant. They have good options for adults and kids. Health conscious diners can have fresh fruit, whole wheat bagels, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, egg white omelettes cooked to order and more. The kids liked the fresh waffles and pancakes with chocolate sauce. Overall a good experience.

Staying at the Parkside; the menu at the adjacent restaurant had limited options. We set out for a walk to find some dinner and realized that our son would not walk more than one block. Fire & Water is the only restaurant that is really close to the Parkside. Fortunately, the kids options at this Marriott are great; there are six or so choices. Service is extremely friendly, the menu is varied, and there is an additional menu of small plates in case you don’t want to spend too much. Entrees come with a free dessert. We had spinach salad with grilled chicken, baby back ribs, kids’ burger, seafood linguine. Very good for a hotel restaurant.

Arrived in Victoria after a ferry trip from Port Angeles and after walking around town for awhile, we decided it was time to get dinner. We looked at a few different options and settled on this because it was very close to where we were staying and we were a little tired from an early morning and a lot of traveling. When we booked this trip we had no idea that we would be arriving the day before the Victoria Marathon. We figured the restaurant might be crowded, but it was quite the opposite. The lounge was busier serving dinner than the restaurant and the waiter was likely the reason. When he saw us walk in, and it was apparent that we were not here to run the marathon, he quickly cleaned the table in front of the fireplace to seat us. He was hustling the whole time we were there, but kept a very good sense of humor, despite running his own personal marathon between the kitchen and the lounge. I found it a little odd, and perhaps it is the Canadian way of service, that the bread arrived just moments before our entrees. It was nothing like the American way of having a basket of bread placed in front of you as you sit down. That said, the bread was amazing. Warm, but not hot; hard crust with soft center and a wonderful pesto butter. For my entrée, I had the prime rib and to be fair, it was good, but I live about 1.5 miles from a restaurant that has an amazing prime rib so it is hard to top that. Speaking of topping, I am a firm believer that my prime rib should stand alone and not be drenched in a bunch of stuff. This prime rib came topped with a mushroom and gorgonzola sauce that, for me, really detracted from the meat. My meal came with a wonderful assortment of vegetables and mashed potatoes. I have to admit I didn’t eat most of my vegetables, because my husband’s entrée choice came with nothing but two crab cakes, so I shared. About the crab cakes, he said he enjoyed them, that they were very good, but that same restaurant where we get the awesome prime rib at home, well, their crab cakes are better too. For a first night meal while traveling this hit the spot, but I don’t know that if I lived in Victoria that this would be one of my go to restaurants.

Surprisingly for a Marriott the food was quite good, and affordable. For $ 40 I had a 3 course meal of short ribs(huge portion), Sable fish with clams and shrimp plus an apple tart dessert. The short rib appetizer(huge) was plated with some local greens, mashed potatoes and a nice smoky sauce. The Sable fish is one of my all time favorites and it was cooked to perfection but, the shrimp was tough and over cooked. Dessert was good but not great, which helps place the establishment above average. Definitely worth trying if stuck in another Marriott on a business trip.

One of the best in-hotel restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Fantastic service, and the prime rib is out of this world!

Fire & Water was an interesting experience. The restaurant was empty on a Friday night, which is not a good sign, which is a shame because the food was actually quite good for a Marriott. We sat in the lounge, which had a decent crowd of hotel guests, but the décor did not match the modern exterior. The menu was an interesting choice between two Prix Fixe options as well as «tapas.» We opted for a bunch of tapas, which is a term they use loosely, but a big plus is the $ 20 bottle of wine on weekends if you order tapas. Started off with a dozen of local oysters, which were good but could have been better if they were served at a colder temperature. The braised duck leg with apples, however, was perfect, and we could have easily eaten 3 more of them. The flank steak mini-burgers, however, suffered from being a little too tough, while ground beef would have been a better choice. Overall, Fire & Water has some decent choices and a great special on wine, but lacks the décor and consistency to draw diners other than hotel guests.
