Popped in late at night, the coffee was great and the service good.

Pretty much the worst service ever. The one barista was brutal. I would have walked out if I hadn’t come here especially to work on my latptop. She was super unpleasant and curt. Didn’t say hi, didn’t even ask what my order was, basically stared at me until I ordered. Look, amgry cashier: I get that slinging coffee isn’t fun. Maybe you just had a fight with your significant other. Maybe your boss is a jerk. Whatever. But you know, you are being paid and stuff so don’t make me feel unwelcome in your café. I am capable of spending a LOT on coffee and I’m in the area often, so you are missing out. So yeah, Unilocalers. The service sucks.

I occasionally use this space to do a little work in between meetings in Vaughan. It’s close to the highway(s), never a shortage of parking and the WiFi is always free. I used to frequent this location more in my teenage(hang out at the movie theatre) years. And of course we were obnoxious teens back then, making a mess, being loud… all the things I despise about awkward teenagers now. It’s a Second Cup, Canada’s half-assed attempt at a Starbucks. It’s not really my cup of tea, especially not this location. There was a one point an all star staff working here(which really is the only thing that distinguishes one franchise from the next) but about a year or so ago there was an ownership change and it’s all been downhill for this location from here. Service remains substandard and those members of staff with whom I start to build a rapport with(aka those who remember my order, are conversational and display great CS) are repeatedly let go… I blame management here, if your turnover is that high, you might be the problem, not the staff. Take your coffee to go b/c that is what earns this place it’s 2 stars :)

I don’t frequent coffee shops much but this one’s not bad. Place could use some cleaning up though.

A cozy Second Cup in the shadow of the looming, giant über mega Colossus movie theater/Louis Farrakhan mothership. It reminds me of the numerous cozy Tully’s coffee shops that dot Seattle’s suburban retail complexes. I went on a Sunday around noonish when you probably won’t find a seat at any coffee establishment in the city. Since I’m probably the only one who goes to see movies on a Sunday in Vaughan and likes to get a coffee before said flick, this store was necessarily empty of bothersome seat occupying patrons. Anyway, loads of parking, lots of big box type stores you can walk to after your coffee. If you’re really the adventurous type, you can also walk across Weston road and hit the Five Guys after your coffee. Which I did. And I don’t regret.
