We had a great experience with Westside midwives. We never felt rushed during appointments and our birthing wishes we respected and honoured by all the midwives we saw. The home care after the birth for both the baby and me was also exceptional!

Westside Midwives were my midwives in 2009 when I was pregnant with my first child. They started off fine but once I started to decline tests and late-term ultrasounds that I didn’t feel were necessary, they became bullies. My husband and I discussed at length with them why we were declining certain tests yet they still acted as if we were being careless and stupid. I understand that careproviders sometimes disagree with their clients but bullying and strong-arming a client to consent to tests is NOT appropriate. We fired them at 37 weeks and hired new midwives who respected our choices, even if they did not agree with those choices.

My experience was amazing, especially this was my first born so I had no idea what I was doing. They work in a team of 3 they were all amazing. I enjoyed having long appointments where I can just sit there and ask questions and have them professionally answered. They really respect your wishes, home labor sure, hospital labor sure, you want epidural sure, you don’t want drugs sure, And the whole time I was in labor Camille, consulted with all other doctors. I was never left alone I always felt confident and prepared. When things got complicated… going on 4.5 hours pushing I had obgyn on stdby and a pediatrician. I just appreciated their attention to detail. Also, yes I had stitches and they were done perfectly with perfect healing. oh and the best part is they come to your home for the follow up after the birth for 6 week care. I feel strange talking about my son’s birth on here but I thought if I were a first time to be mom looking for a mid wife it would be nice to know which one to go to:) take care all hope this helps!
