If there is a major exhibit going on and you don’t want to pay to go to the gift shop inside, this store will carry most of the items in relation to the exhibit and a few cool gifts that are locally inspired. I come here to get post cards to send to friends over seas. The customer service is great. The prices for what they are… are great.

A great store with toys, art objects and books for all different ages. Service is excellent and patient. They truly know their audience. Price points range from cheap to expensive. Nice display and easy navigation. I recommend a visit to the Vancouver Art Gallery Store! Best of luck in Vancouver.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I love receiving cards. Screw gifts –cards are something that you can keep for years and they let the giver express exactly what they want in a fun, memorable way. They’re where it’s AT, people! One small catch: I hate those Hallmark and Carlton card-store cards. I mean, handing out cards filled with cheesy, repetitive drivel that 1000’s have seen before is NOT my idea of a thoughtful gesture. This is where places like the Vancouver Art Gallery store come in. They have a beautiful selection of handcrafted cards that are surefire keepers. Last Christmas, I even found a card that was carved out of wood(which I promptly purchased and gave to my best friend). Guys take note! Your lady will adore you if you bring her one of these gems. But this place isn’t just good for their cards. The Vancouver Art Gallery store is one of the best places to shop when you’re looking for unique gifts at any price range. They carry all kinds of jewellery, games, journals, kitchen gadgets and other knickknacks that are sure to please a wide variety of people. My office, like many others, plays the good ol’ Secret Santa game every year; however with a $ 10 spending limit, it can be hard to find something that isn’t complete garbage at most places. Last year, I was able to find a number of items that fit this price range. In the end, I ended up grabbing a ceramic, super-colourful travel mug that the recipient just loved. Other notable finds from the Gallery store are my watch(designed in New York by Nooka –look them up!), a digital clock that looks like a small cube of wood, but lights up with the time when you clap, various metal-ring puzzle games, windup robots, and hilariously-shaped ice cube trays. For anyone who loves Moleskin notebooks, they have a huge selection here, too. The next time you find yourself stuck while looking for a gift, consider popping by the Vancouver Art Gallery store. I assure you that you’ll leave happy and you won’t be empty handed.

Actually a really fantastic art museum gift store — better than the art museum itself, in my opinion. Great selection of both high-art and humorous collectibles plus jewelry made by local artists. Visiting after Christmas was a nice added bonus particularly because of the prices and selection.

Great place for unique gifts for all ages with reasonable prices. One of the best kept secrets in Vancouver, it is right in the middle of the action but so overlooked. Definitely better than any chain store. Love that they also have Canadian and BC specific items. I spent nearly half an hour just browsing at all the unique and interesting gifts and items they have here. Well done, will be back.

Great place to come watch people thinking about how deep they are. Definitely artsy and definitely fartsy! The main attraction here is getting VAG stamped on you. The only saving grace of this place is the gift shop and the indoor/outdoor café.

I’ve long known that the Gallery Store is a good place to shop for Christmas present or gifts, since they generally offer an interesting selection at decent prices. What got me to write this review is that their staff is both knowledgeable and helpful, vanishing qualities in other(read chain) stores. I came in the other day looking for jigsaw puzzles and found an interesting selection and very helpful staff: the perfect antidote to London Drugs. Everything here is obviously art-related, but it ranges widely, from kids’ stuff to mouse pads to hanging mobiles and other decorative pieces. There’s the obligatory Canadiana section, but it’s not pushed to the detriment of other selection. Overall, this is a good place to find interesting gifts for spouses, family and friends.

I usually dread the obligatory museum store visit but surprisingly I enjoyed this store. Not only is it filled with books, posters, etc. on artists and famous works, it has the most amazing unique gifts. I can see my myself returning for the metal bird coat hooks that are also magnets for car keys. Or maybe I will discover that I do need the iPhone charging station or ceramic mug shaped like a Starbucks to go cup.

I could spend hour upon hour in this store. Like the gallery itself, the VAG Store holds just as many treasures and wonders. Okay, so maybe that was a bit of a hyperbole but it is a fun place to visit. Stocked full with fantastic art books, magazines, knick knacks, toys, stationary, journals, home furnishings… it’s eclectic and wide ranging… the tying theme being that everything is interesting and creative.

The Vancouver Art Gallery is well-known in Vancouver, by locals and tourists(or, I should say, visitors alike). I love spending an afternoon at the VAG — even its wide steps leading up from Robson Street are a great place to hang out and watch the world go by on a sunny weekend afternoon. Inside, the VAG is renouned for its great collection of art, and, in particular, the fact it houses the world’s largest collection of works by Emily Carr. But this review isn’t all about the Gallery itself; rather, it’s about the great Vancouver Art Gallery Store, which you can visit before, after, or indpendently of your trip to the Gallery. The Gallery Store carries a really great, wide selection of art-related stuff: gifts, books, and crafts, as well as items created by and/or reflecting local and international talent. I love buying gifts here, whether the recipient is an art lover or not. The VAG Store carries tons of books on both contemporary and traditional art, art history(remember taking that in university?!), kids’ stuff, prints and posters, and lots of stationery, journals, calendars(all artistically themed, of course), and much, much more. BONUS: Your purchase will help support the Vancouver Art Gallery itself!
