Excellent! Well done. I’ve been going there for years and never had a bad haircut. I’m always happy with the people, the facilities and the haircuts. Super professional but relaxed atmosphere.

$ 525 = I had to shave my whole head. Sux, rly wanted to have real hair, I spent money for it(and now I can’t afford Christmas, thx to these guys) and I’m farther back from where I started. Don’t believe what they say, use your own judgement. Come in with long thick hair or be prepared to have Bart Simpson stubs.

I have been coming here for years for my cuts and colours. The owner Kris is an awesome lady who is always cheerful and fun to chat with. The whole atmosphere is really nice and chill — no snooty people here! I have gone from funkier colours to more conventional ones and they have always helped me find not only what I want but what would look best on me. They are especially good at reds, which are very difficult to get right and have last. I have been to a lot of hair salons in my life, but now that I have found this place I would never go anywhere else! A special shout out to Stine who did such an amazing job on my hair for years, and to Sue who has been equally fantastic.

I don’t have any other dreadlocks services to compare to, but as far as I’m aware, this is the only place in Vancouver completely dedicated to locs on such a scale and they’ve been there about 8 years I think. They are just as good if not better than any other hairdresser service I’ve experienced though! The ladies are friendly and talkative, but not too chatty. Getting my dreads done for the first time + a 6 month maintenance cost about the same as I would spend getting my hair done 4 times a year with cut & dye before. The following years will be even less as maintenance isn’t needed as often. Sure, getting them done is a little painful but it helps to have a cute pup in your lap! Kris’s dog is really nice. I recommend bringing a lunch and snacks, because you’re in for the long haul! It took 6 hours to do mine and past-shoulder length. After nearly a year, they’re aging quite well. I found the Knotty Boy LockSteady gel helped a lot when rolling after a shower to maintain frizzies. Roll roll roll! That’s all I can say. And for dandruff /itchy scalp I found a diluted apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil rinse once a week is good. Also, I prefer the bar soap over the liquid one — it seems to go further and I like the suds! Au naturel products to boot. I’ve seen tons of photos of dreads they’ve done and they all look consistently good quality! I debated doing it myself vs going here, and figured I wanted them started clean and quickly so I that’s what I chose. They look nicer sooner, in my opinion, as opposed to doing them the slow DIY way.

Tucked away in a corner off Commercial lives a dread ninja and her merry band of stylists. The owner, Kris, is not only one kick ass lady, but also a seriously awesome stylist and dread specialist I don’t personally have dreads, I frequent the salon for style and colour. I have a lot of friends that go there for dreads and sing the praises of the team. Kris carries Knotty Boy dread products. I use the conditioner for own hair because it’s the best conditioner I’ve ever used for dry damaged hair. And it’s vegan, biodegradable and smells yummy. My own experience has been filled with great style peppered with funny, witty banter. Overall, outstanding customer service. Side note: if you are driving, give yourself lots of extra time to find parking.

This is a salon that is on grant st, just off of commercial drive. It specializes in dreads and hair extensions. I don’t have dreads myself so I can’t comment on those services, but judging by the work they do it looks great. I go to Stine for cuts and colour. You will be hard-pressed to find someone more passionate about hair than Stine. She will take the time to do a consultation with you about what you want done with your hair, and she will give you suggestions and honest feedback about what might or might not work, according to face shape, hair texture, etc. If you are looking for something creative and fun for your next hair style, Stine is the one to go to.
