Loved this café! I ordered a multigrain grilled cheese sandwich for my little one and the grilled banana bread with whipped cream for myself — delicious. Everything was clean and spotless — décor was beautiful. Food was very reasonably priced and they have an interesting and varied menu. I brought home a loaf of fresh baked sourdough multigrain which was amazing. The staff were all lovely and friendly. I came here today with some mom friends and their little ones and they had fun playing in the kids play space while we sipped our lattes. Only slight negative is the location — far from my house and took two buses to get there. However, positives outweigh the location — highly recommend and will definitely return.

Finally, finally had a pretzel sandwich. Yum yum yum! Smoked salmon pretzel sandwich with cream cheese and this amazing grainy mustard. If you’re in the area, you definitely need to try it. Also, their coffee is damn good. I’m a cream and sugar girl or a fancy flavouring girl but I can deal with just some milk in their coffee. Delicious.

We almost didn’t come here cause the Unilocal guide said it was closed and they weren’t answering the phone. Luckily it was in fact open on a Monday and was particularly quiet perhaps due to most thinking it was closed-;) I have had full meals and assorted sweets in the past nut on this visit I had a true«SweetSalt» item a cranberry sourdough roll toasted with cream cheese– yum. I was disappointed that they no longer carry my Favourite tea PARIS by Harney & Sons. They still carry that brand of tea with assorted caffeinated and non-caffeinated choices. I tried the delux Earl Grey which was very nice but sadly not the trip to PARIS that I was expecting. They said they might start carrying it again– sure hope so. They only other folks that carry that brand seem to be WAVES and I’d rather stay with a small business so here’s hoping to see PARIS( ) again soon.

These guys are great with the kidlets(my daughter loves the sprinkle milk) and with the parents. They will turn their sandwiches into salads so even though I can’t eat the gluten goodness, I can have a lox salad with an almond milk latte. My kid tends to eat a sourdough bun that they slice into thin pieces for her. And then she plays and I peacefully drink my latte. It’s heaven.

Fantastic staff that were very welcoming and great conversationalists. A great German bakery with all the sweets, teas, and coffees you could want.

This place has really nice fresh bread. A friend bought me one of the rosemary loafs and it was fabulous. A great addition to Fraser street!

A very good place if you’re looking for a place to have a coffee, a snack and for your kid to play. Coffee is Ok, food is better, baked goods are best. The staff are OK, I wish everyone smiled and pretended to be welcoming — even if they don’t mean it. It’s part of good customer service. It’s obvious that a particular person on staff has a problem working here, always grumpy with customers but happy to have a laugh with other staff members. Also, tables and chairs should be cleaned from food crumbs every time a table is cleared. The children’s high chairs are disappointingly filthy.

With two kids, and living close by, I end up here a lot. It’s a great place to catch up with a friend or relax with a cup of coffee while my kids play in the play area. They have a nice menu for the kids as well that is very reasonably priced. I love their pretzels, cinn buns, and Oma’s cookies. They also have panini sandwiches that come with soup or salad. I also often buy their breads to enjoy at home. Cranberry sourdough is incredible. This place is definitely geared towards those with kids and can get busy at times(which is a testament to how good it is). However, they are often very quiet in the afternoons starting around 1230 when all the little kids nap. So if kids aren’t your thing, you can still enjoy their delicious food.

The area is nice and the building is nice, but everything seems kind of… sticky. I’ll take an educated guess and say that it feels that way because kids run amuck in here. Tables are sticky, floor is gross, everything is kind of out of place and dishevelled. The coffee and food is good, hence the two stars, but if you want a relaxing coffee experience, go elsewhere. But if you’re looking for a place where your kids can run wild and share loads of germs with other kids — come here!

There’s sometimes ingredients that shouldn’t be in the food A random coffee bean in my bread? What if I was allergic to coffee? I’d be dead. So pretty much if you have an allergy I couldn’t recommend buying anything here because even if they say there isn’t something in your treat 50⁄50 chance there it’s in there Yes the play area for kids is cute and I’m sure fun for them but its kinda not my cup of tea to be buying treats while there’s kids coughing/sneezing everywhere while playing. Id rather not get sick. It just doesn’t seem too sanitary with the play area

This place is amazing for those who have kids because they have a little play area that can keep them occupied for hours! I do no have kids myself but I love coming here with my friends who do because it gives my mommy friends time to chat and have a proper conversation! :) Every time we go there, the little kiddos never want to leave. We can stay there for 1.5 hours and they are still going strong! I have been here before and LOVED their proscuitto sandwich but they do not have it anymore. The lady who worked there said it was because they changed all their sandwiches to paninis and that sandwich didn’t grill so well. The new sandwiches are just alright. Nothing spectacular especially if you’d had their previous sandwiches. Why the change I wonder? They have lots of baked goods and a great selection of teas and coffees. Overall, I would still come here with my mommy friends but just for tea and some treats.

EVERYTHINGISFABULOUS! I am thrilled to have found a second bakery where I feel eating their food is well worth the calories! You can tell that they use high quality ingredients. The store is bright and really cute too. I Love that they have a little toddler play area. I can actually have a proper conversation and enjoy my coffee & treats/lunch while the kids play. Nice staff too:)

Bright, relaxing little café with great German treats. Nice coffee, and great selection of different cookies. We tried a few different cookies which were tasty and good but not over the top amazing either. Next I time I’ll have to try their food. Nice little corner with toys for you kiddies to or run around so you have to watch out when you’re walking that you don’t run them over. Seating is very limited and space is very small overall.

Been here a few times to have coffee with friends. The coffee is great but I am not a fan of the back goods. This is a family friendly place so kids having fun make it a little louder. Not easy to have coffee with a friend without speaking loudly. I may not be a fan of their baked good but they have some great sandwiches!

Popped in quickly to pick up some pastries to go with our tea. This place is cute and the variety of pastries is impressive! They gave us an extra as we were buying for a group event, very nice. The chocolate buns were delicious and the Swiss rolls were a big hit! Fast friendly service. As a safety note, I don’t really think placing the kids area right beside the door is a great layout simply for safety. The door closes really slowly and an adorable little free range toddler could attempt an escape(my poor husband nearly released on by accident) looks like a cool place for families! Cute décor as well

Sorry Sweet Salt… But I have two words for you… Never Again. WHY??? What I found in two of my cranberries buns: A pit in the first one and a coffee bean in the second one… No thank you…

This place has really good breads no questions about it. I have had some varieties anything from baguette, sourdough, multi-grain, pumpkin seeds, plain etc. they are honestly delicious. Thanks to deck ovens with steam functions to inject moisture, the skin of the breads is consistently crispy. I also like how they support local organic flour mills/shops by using Anita’s organic flour. I tried their cookies, danishes, and Quark cheese cake and I am sorry to say they’ve been mediocre. I have to agree with some of the reviewers who gave less than 3 stars of this place. I honestly don’t know how German-inspired baked goods are defined because the breads taste like really good Artisan breads but not German specific. Other than that this place is warm and inviting. It’s a great place to bring your kids here as they have s kids’ play area. I haven’t tried their sandwiches or their beverages so I can’t comment. So 3.5 stars for me.

I’ve come here twice, once just noticing this place(as I always drive by going to work) and once with one of those online purchased vouchers and I must say I like this spot. The times I come in aren’t prime-time so there aren’t that many patrons or children, which is fine by me, but I know just by looking at this place, it’s definitely kid friendly! Before I get to the German-inspired baked goods, let’s get to the kids and what they can potentially do here. There’s a designated play area for the little tots in the corner for them to play with the toys there, be themselves and even play kitchen(saw one of those miniature fake stovetop/sink units), eat healthy treats that are kid-oriented, and they offer cooking classes for these wee little people here? So if you have a young one, and you need a good place to chill out, this one maybe for you. For the rest of us, they serve some simple desserts here, and they have sandwiches, if your looking to eat in. They have quite a few drinks here, from your caffeine filled expresso’s, Americano’s, and other tea items, also saw some natural sodas in here. You can have their baked goods like a cinammon roll, cookies, muffins, or a turnover(we ended up getting a blackberry one for the road) or any of their smaller buns, which are smaller versions of their bigger loaf’s. We took home a cranberry, carrot, sourdough loaf(I hope I got the combo correct!) and some other smaller buns. I like the density of the bread, it’s not super hard on the outer shell like some sourdoughs, but provides a real good chew. They also have a deal, when you buy a certain number of small buns, you get one free! I’ll be back to this little bright place, once you walk in you see the ovens right behind the till area, everything is in the open, even the breads and other pastries that need cooling off, we even picked some of our take-out items off the cooling racks as things seem to go fast in this little place. Will be back, and maybe sit around for a coffee… but it’s nice to see this bright spot in the building.

Great pastries, fun toys for the kids and nice parents too. It is nice and open so parents and kids can see how all the treats are made. The cinnamon bun($ 3) is the best I have tried, and doesn’t need a load of cream cheese frosting on the top to make it enjoyable. The inside is sweet and soft. The sugar to cinnamon ration is spot on. Perfect with a latte. Aaaah so good.

Great bakery! The owner and employees are really sweet and the treats they have on hand look too good to be true. I was there early enough that they just had vanilla danishes out of the oven and it was absolutely devine! In fact I’m salivating now just thinking about it. The décor is nice and it’s cute that they have a play area for the kids. Will be back soon!
