Pretty good. Came here a few times and never had a dish I didn’t like. Too bad it’s such a tiny place otherwise I’d give it 5 stars

Food is average North American sushi. The wait is super long. And they brought the food one at a time with 10 min intervals. I felt bad for my friends who were waiting even longer.

Ordered food and got given someone else’s order. Only realized this when I got home so had to phone them and go to pick up actual order. The woman at the till was not very happy and asked for original order back and offered nothing for the inconvenience of having to drive back again after they made the mistake of giving me the wrong order.

I’ve been here SO many times I can not believe I have never reviewed it! This is hands down the best sushi in Vancouver in my opinion! The prices are so affordable and the sushi is so good! The fish is always fresh. The staff is always so nice, always greeting you when you come in. They are always willing to make sure any dietary requests are met as best as they can. I know there are two locations, but I have only ever been to this one. It is small, and they close for a period for lunch(Only about an hour) before dinner. I love the BC roll and the chopped scallop roll. My boyfriend swears that their Philadelphia roll is the best in Van City. Their sashimi is so fresh. I usually get their chirashi don. It is so fresh and so amazing. The rolls are always well made. I have never had one fall apart on me. They fill up fast for lunch and dinner. They have two tables for bigger groups and the rest of the tables are small. They have the sushi bar you can also sit at. They have specials, so make sure you check the specials board up by the sushi bar when you come in! If they are too full to sit, they will tell you how long the wait is. It’s never a very long wait but you can always get take out. I have gotten take out a couple times from here and their quality never disappoints. Overall, as you can tell, I love this place. It’s my favourite in Vancouver. I will continue coming here and bringing everyone here as long as Sushiholic is around!

One of my best sushi spot in Vancouver. I gave 2 stars because they are always late for pick up orders. Right now, i have been still waiting for 20 min for my order which was placed at 6.10p for 7.15p.

Wednesday lunch time was packed with customers. Setting was small yet cozy with dramatic lighting. Pleasantly surprised that their prices are a bit lower than the other places I have been(eg. $ 1 for vegetable nigiri, $ 1.5 for saba) To justify the price, fish portion was a bit smaller. Their Fuji salad dressing was really good. It took a while before our food was on the table but I was instantly delighted once I saw the amaebi sushi – with fresh raw shrimp head, not deep fried!(I’m not too crazy about deep fried shrimp heads that a lot of sushi places offer along side with their amaebi nigiri) One of the best quality sushi restaurants run by Koreans.

Overall good sushi. However, price is a bit high for the portion. Only been here once and their big sign by the road drew me in. Would not come again, there are better choices nearby in terms of price and quality.

I remember coming here for their famous Awesome Roll. It would usually get crowded and I could see why. It’s small space and limited reservations makes it very difficult for customers to come into this place. Thankfully, I was there when it was not busy. I ordered their Awesome Roll which was a California Roll with julienned yam fries with some spicy mayo. The only reason why people would love this roll alot is because of the yam fries accompanying the chewy california roll. Otherwises, it is just a decent place for sushi.

Good sushi for very good prices. They also have a lot of good combo deals and sushi trays! Every time I’ve eaten here, the fish has been very fresh. Cons: Parking isn’t the best here, small place

It was around 7pm when we came in. It was busy but was able to snag a seat as a couple was leaving. Getting our orders taken took a bit of time but once that was done, we got our food pretty quickly. We got a California roll, Red Roll, teriyaki roll and couple nigiri. What i liked was the size of the rolls. They easily fit in my mouth in one bite. The rice on the California roll seemed overcooked though. Price is good and fish tasted fresh.

Good sushi but service wasn’t as great and took quite awhile for me to get my sushi I had to wait 1 hour for a single roll. Still debating whether this place is a place I will return to thank you anyways for the sushi

Decent menu with high quality fish. Lots of good combos and special rolls too that are averaged priced(e.g. maki combo rolls from $ 7 and special rolls from $ 6) but really good quality. The place is a bit small and cramped. If you don’t like people potentially hearing your conversations, don’t come here. Go for: very good quality with reasonable pricing, super friendly staff Don’t go for: private seating, easy parking during the day, anything original

If I was only rating this place based on food I would’ve given it a 4 star. However, the long wait for food brought it down. I went here with my brother on the recommendation from a friend and the sushi definitely did not disappoint. We ordered agedashi tofu to start, ever green roll, awesome roll, yam tempura roll, and chicken teriyaki roll. I enjoyed all if it. The agedashi tofu was very good, loved the sauce but the breading was a little gummy for some reason(maybe it was supposed to be like that?). The rolls were great. The ever green roll has cream cheese in it and I didn’t particularly like that part but that is just personal preference. We also chose to substitute the regular sushi rice for the mulitgrain which was still good and it was nice to have the option to do that. But despite the good food, it was hard to enjoy being there when the food took so long to come out. We ordered ten minutes after sitting down and we didn’t receive our food until about 50 minutes after. The people next to us came thirty minutes after we did and received their food a mere 15 minutes after ordering. And once our food did come, everything came except for the awesome roll which arrived once we were done all the other food. Maybe this is a one time thing, maybe it happens often, but it was not a very good first impression.

This is me and my boyfriend’s go-to sushi place. It’s close to home, the food is consistently good, and the little spot is always packed. The only downside that finding parking can sometimes be a pain, although there are some spots alongside the store. You will always be greeted and thanked upon entering and leaving, and your cup of green tea will never be empty. Now, I must say that as far as sushi goes we aren’t that ambitious or exciting, so for some of the crazier rolls I don’t have much say but they have delicious tempura and sunomono.

We enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant today. This place is small but we didn’t have to wait for a table. The server took our orders quickly and served us hot tea. We saw two different families with kids enjoying their lunch so I’m guessing this place is kid friendly too. We ordered oyster ball, chicken teriyaki bento and tatsu special bento. All dishes were very well prepared and we really enjoyed :-) will surely be back.

I would give this place 5 stars for the price value, but I deducted 1 star due to the customer service. Service was good enough compare with other Asian restaurants though. Pretty cheap for the decent meal and they serve bigger portion than other Japanese restaurants. Because of my good experience with their food at this location, I am gonna plan to visit one on Denman soon. Can’t wait!

We walked in around 7:30ish pm and it was packed so we decided on takeout. The place was tiny and feels very Asian and that is not a bad thing. There was no waiting area for ppl having takeout so it was on the uncomfortable side waiting and listening(we tried not to eavesdrop on ppls convos but it was hard). We ordered Chicken Teriyaki and a Chirashi Don. Chicken teriyaki was ok, a bit on the oily side and not so Teriyaki. The Chirashi Don was lacking the amount of sashmi I normally get in other restaurants, plus the cuts were thin and long? The food quality was ok, not the best I ever had but edible and filled our belly’s for the night. I don’t think I will be coming back here and I don’t know whether to recommend this place or not…

This is our go to sushi place. We have ordered take our and also dined in. Both have been great experiences. They do get busy so go there early. We haven’t had any bad experiences here. They have some great specialty roll selection, including their«awesome roll». I would recommend this restaurant for sushi!

This is a go to sushi house when in the area. The place always has people and the wait time is not bad. They also have a party room if you come with a larger group. The maki and special rolls are my favourite here, the pricing for rolls is also really good. Going here at least twice a month they have been really consistent in taste and quality.

When we got there, it was really crowded. However, because we were offered seats at the bar we got miso soup on the house! Good first impression. Their sushi was delicious. The flavour was rich and the sizes were just right. I had a las vegas roll and hubs had udon. We also had some edamame to share towards the end. I wish the restaurant was bigger though, so more people could be seated! Nevertheless, great place! I will definitely be back!

Toro was so delicious and oily. Really nice quality. I love the roll sushi here. Proper size– not overly big but you don’t feel like you’re getting ripped off even in comparison to new humungo rolls that these new cheap sushi joints are doing. The quality is good. Rolls don’t fall apart and eat price is sensible for one bite without giving you chipmunk cheeks. I’m most pleased that they don’t mayo their spicy tuna rolls. I’ve only ever gotten takeout from here. But rates are very reasonable and if it weren’t so far away is come here on the regular. Great sushi spot !

SushiHolic. With two locations(their other location is at Denman) and a pretty high rating, they seem to be quite popular. We attempted to get into Shima-Ya but we weren’t willing to want over an hour for a spot(on a Thursday evening, really people?!?) so we decided to drive elsewhere and settled for SushiHolic. From what I’ve heard, it’s run by Koreans, so bear that in mind. The outside is pretty non-descript but once you walk in, it’s a little more cozy, with the sushi chefs greeting you with hello’s. The layout is tight, compact and splits into what feels like two separate areas. We were seated into a corner booth, which felt cramped even though there were only three of us. — Deluxe assorted sashimi($ 23.95) — 21 pieces of sashimi for $ 24.00. Yeah, that’s a pretty sweet deal. Salmon, sockeye salmon, tuna, hokkigai(surf clam), tako(octopus), hamachi(yellowtail) and another type I can’t remember. For the price, it really can’t be beat. It won’t blow you away but it’ll help satisfy those sashimi cravings one gets. — 3x Toro($ 1.80/piece), uni($ 3.00/piece) and unagi($ 2.30/piece) — I’m not sure why but they only charged us $ 1.30 per toro pieces. Woot, deaaaaal. The toro had a smooth, buttery taste to it. The unagi and uni were decent but nothing special about them. I’ve had better elsewhere. — Negihama roll($ 3.25) and red roll($ 8.95) — the negihama roll was good. For the red roll, you get 8 pieces. Chopped scallop with mayo, cucumber, spicy tuna and crispy bits on top. As my taste buds grow, I’m becoming less and less of a fan of rolls with sauce on top. I much prefer to eat nigiri or sashimi, that way at least you can taste the fresh, quality characteristics of the fish. Nothing to mask away the star ingredient. — Washington roll($ 4.25) and chopped scallop roll($ 3.75) — 8 pieces for both the Washington(avocado and salmon) and chopped scallop roll. These are pretty standard fair but the chopped scallop rolls tasted fresh. Not bad for a backup plan. I wouldn’t really go out of my way for SushiHolic, it’s not a must eat in my books. That being said, prices are pretty reasonable so if you’re looking for a more laid back place for sushi, give them a try.

We love coming here for dinner because it’s good quality food and the fusion rolls are great! My three favourite rolls are the awesome roll, mango roll and vegas roll. Salmon sashimi is always fresh and decent size. They also have the wild salmon option too. The only reason why it doesn’t have 5 stars is because the service is a little slow. They always have two servers, but really they need three becaua

Very small place, however deceiving, there’s a hidden room to the side, must’ve been an expansion, however still a very small place even including that. Nothing notable regarding the décor. 4 of us went on a Friday night around 745pm, expected wait to be 40 mins, however received a table in 15 mins in the above-mentioned hidden room. Dragon Roll: Relatively good roll, however I ordered it by mistake, meant to order the Rainbow Roll. Nothing spectacular, however the small pieces of Unagi on top was very tasty. Sockeye Salmon Sashimi: Absolutely delicious! No «fishy» taste, very distinct salmon flavor. Excellent firm pieces. One of the best I’ve had. Ika Nigiri: Nothing special here, was firm, not too chewy, light«buttery», oily taste upon first bite, pretty good. Salmon Belly Nigiri: Wish I had the seared version like my friends did, was still a really fatty piece of salmon nigiri, however I’m sure it would’ve been better seared. I strongly recommend getting the seared version unless you don’t like it too oily/fatty. Toro Nigiri: Oddly, this wasn’t that spectacular, was as expected, nothing to write home about, was good… but not amazing. Ikura Nigiri: After my latest visit to Waka Sushi in Langley, this was a sight for sore eyes, excellent individual pieces of Salmon Roe, all intact, no juice /slime on the rice or noticeable anywhere. Very flavorful, albeit a bit too salty for my liking, however not so much that it’d prevent me from ordering this again from here. Unagi Nigiri: Not the best I’ve had(so far it’s at Sushi by Yuji), however still very good. Piece wasn’t too big, no struggling to eat it all in one bite, almost a perfect sizing actually. Very tasty, however no distinct fatty part to it which is what I prefer. Not overloaded with sauce, just enough to enhance the flavor of the unagi, a recommended dish for everyone that visits here. Uni Nigiri: Saved this for last, was the best thing I had during my visit, really creamy, melted in my mouth, sweet, and succulent. Further words can’t do this piece justice, a must try if you enjoy Uni.

Knowing about this place, driving by it every so often I never got the chance to step in here. It’s taken so long and finally I decide to walk in here for a quick dinner. I came earlier in the day, and it was closed(don’t come Sunday for lunch!!!) and I was determined this time to eat here! I didn’t realize how many reviews this place had until I checked in… my expectations were high after going through about 5 reviews while waiting for a seat. Sunday night, the place had a few seats, but it was packed. The first thing I noticed was 4 guys slicing and dicing behind the sushi bar, they were busy at work. Walked in, and they did some Japanese langauge greeting, not like Guu, a little more subtle, while the 2 waitresses were working their tails off on all the tables. The place is not big, but it can get really busy in a hurry, not just with the people sitting in for a meal, but what really surprised me was the mass amount of takeout this place had waiting for the people who decided to call and pick their stuff. I didn’t see small orders here, I saw mass orders, to feed whole family style bag-ups… and people just kept on coming in, and out, a continuous pace. As we were sitting I went through the menu with my mom, we decided on the crazy looking ‘Awesome Roll’ that was featured on the outside of the building, an order of BC Roll, and Tofu Vegetable Teriyaki(wtf is this???). Due to the night, the service was a little slow, still, no blame on the servers… it’s just another busy night at this small Japanese restaurant with the odd location. The first thing that came was the Tofu Vegetable Teriyaki, with a side serving of rice. I was actually quite impressed at this order, done on a hot pan just like chicken, salmon or beef teriyaki, this this was identical in nature, but instead of meat, served with Agedashi tofu, and a fair amount too. I am usually not a fan of the bean sprouts on this dish, and I will admit that I will allow this to go to waste, but there was something very fresh with the ingredients here that made my chopsticks keep coming back to eat all the bean sprouts, this dish is a winner if you need to get away from the meat, the mixed bean sprouts were crispy fresh, mixed with peppers to give a nice zing to the flavour, I would honestly order this again. As we had two rolls coming, they were served together, and I we will start with the suble BC Roll, not as crispy as I expected on the salmon skin portion as some other premium places, but this thing was made with care, as I could see they use minimal rice to make these bite sized rolls, and then the crazy ‘Awesome Roll’ covered in an avalanche of deep fried yam strings, you could barely see what was under all this crazy crispy stringy mess. I found rolls, with a good piece of cooked salmon on top of each, and again, these bites were real good, mixed with eating all the fried stuff, and it just works. The prices are very reasonable for good quality food, not your typical trick you, Chinese people running the restaurant, Japanese food, from what I heard from the staff talking with each other, these people were Japanese. There are no Bento boxes on the menu, which I say is a good thing, just rolls, sashimi, maki, some noodles, rice, tempura, teriyaki, and appetizers there’s quite a bit there for you to order, and I’m sure you will find something you like. Parking is a plenty around here, surprising though that they have their own parking stalls at the side of the building, but for the most part all the streets around here are free, and there are a ton of spots, as they are the only restaurant on the block. I always wondered how this place survives in this location, and now I know why… I can’t wait to come back for another meal!
