I tried their Volcano roll(salmon)! It is splendid! I really like spicy food but it is quite spicy, fulfilling at the same time DELICIOUS! There were always such a long line there so sometimes had to wait quite a long time but it is quite worth it! Price is quite reasonable I believe…

Zooming by Oak at 9 we decided to visit and have our usual meal. Of course we were expecting our usual good experience but our servers attitude repelled us. Even though the food was good our server’s lack of respect and general terrible attitude made us unwelcome for the first time. You learn to expect good service and overall respectful demeaner when you enter a sushi restaurant but the quality of it all is deteriorating after all the staff changes.
I personally believe that the food should constititude 34% of the experience, the service another 33% and the cleanliness and ease of access the last 33%. This is the reason I will give 3 stars. The food is exactly what is expected at the price they are offering and the ease of access and cleanliness meet my standards. But the current service has deteriorated to the point where before I would bring my clients and my family to this restaurant but now I will have to look for a new place. Stacking plates on top of each other and squishing our sushi SHOULDNOTBE A COMMONPRACTICEIN A RESTAURANT and MUMBLING while handing us our food is not the proper way to do things, if you as a server cannot adhere to the minimum standards of customer service then maybe try finding a different calling. Sorry Sushi Mura, I wanted to give you a 4 but having a full stomach and an unhappy attitude when leaving your restaurant is not a good way to end a night.

Terrible service! I asked for my sashimi without ginger or wasabi(I’m allergic) and they brought it with both components. It happens, I get it. but when I brought it up the server decided to literally took it off the plate with his hands, right at the table in front of me. How rude is that? This is the last time we’ll be coming to Sushi Mura.

I used to eat here very often. Sushi and Japanese food are good. However, the service is lacking. The servers do not know how to serve or run the operations. Thus result in many delays in current customers, and further delay in the waiting customers.

Ok having been here for the second time. I think this place is a hit and miss. The first time was good but probably because all I order is sashimi with salmon sushi, scallop sushi and tuna sushi(fish with rice only). Maybe they are just good at making those. So this time Because I went with my parents, I had to order some cooked food. So had to beef Teriyaki. For $ 7.95 there are hardly any beef the bottom is basically all bean spout. Also the other sushi or basically sushi like california roll, Dynamic roll and unagi roll are so so. Maybe should have ordered their special roll instead. The spicy salmon is ok. But portion is a bit small. Should have ordered the half order, you actually get a better deal. So I find that this restaurant don’t really know how to do business. With lineup so crazy out the door. As a smart way is to limit customer to 2 hours dining max. So I waited for a table over 2 hours. I was told 30 mins into the wait the server pointed at a table of 3 people and said they have finished 2 hours ago and would not leave. I hope you understand, I can’t ask them to leave. Place is too small. Well you have to make table turnover quick to make money. Or else you will either end up with a loss or low margin. The place is too small and the restaurant should understand that. You have people leaving because they can’t wait for the table any more. You might communicate this to customer at the beginning and this is a pretty common practice at most small restaurants.

Literally calling it a Sushi Garden clone. But guess what, there isn’t a «proper» sushi place close to the area except for Samurai Sushi, which is junk food sushi. This place is not that bad. But It is deserving of a 3.5 stars. I rounded it down this time. The food is delicious to consume. I approve of their cuts of fish, their rolls are perfectly made, and the cooked food is delicious too. I love how this place is literally a Sushi Garden on this side of the town. It is a perfect place for one of them too. The only negativity is that it is lacking of parking, the service is sub par, and the place is SOOO busy it drives me insane and no set up system to sit people down. I only come here for take out now, since it is around the corner of my school. I for sure will recommend friends to come for sushi, and food, but don’t stay. Grab and go is the best way.

This place was packed when I came yesterday. Saw a family of four walking towards the door while I waited for my friend to get out of the car so we could walk in together. I was eager to rush in before them but to realize they were not going to Sushi Mura but to A&W’s. We still had to put our names down and waited not too long till we were seated. The servers immediately got us water and the menus. My friend already knew what she was getting and I was half and half so I took another glance and we were ready to order. We got: –Deepfried California Roll(4⁄5): They were gorgeously presented with two types of sauce and tobiko on top. The menu said 8pcs but I think we got 10. These were still warm and tasted delicious for the price we paid– $ 3.50. That’s cheap! –Fantastic Roll(2⁄5): Presentation-wise, it looked ok. The taste was definitely not fantastic. Probably the worst sushi I’ve had. I’d say minimum quality would be those served at AYCE, but this one is below that. The rice was terribly prepared and the filling was a no. Had a hard time finishing this one. –Crazy Rabit Roll(3⁄5): I choose this one because I never had a sushi roll without rice. This one is perfect for those who aren’t really looking to add on carbs during dinner. So instead of rice, they use cucumber noodles to wrap the sushi filling. Unfortunately, it is drenched in this overly sweet sauce, which isn’t too bad but I’d prefer some spiciness to it. I also found it hard to pick up. We, girls, were so full after these three rolls. Definitely big portions and super filling. Good quality? No, but for the price you pay, I’d say it’s ok.

One of the great things about Vancouver is the great choices for cheap sushi, and Sushi Mura fits the bill for that. It is located in a small strip mall, so it is easy to miss. The inside is decently-sized, with a ton of people coming through for takeout. I believe that if you call in your order the day before, you can get a discount on your order. Nevertheless, we were eating in, and we ordered: Tuna and salmon sashimi: nice, big pieces of fish. Philly roll: decent cream cheese and salmon roll, for only 4.95! Mangodise roll: mango topped and not bad(again, very cheap at 5.95) Awesome roll: not a big fan of the bonito flakes on top Fantastic roll: probably my favorite one, with tempura shrimp and spicy tuna. Overall, decent sushi and rolls here. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would definitely stop by for takeout at this place, especially with the low prices and discounts.

We came here for a friends birthday lunch on a weekend. The place was quite busy and full, so it would be advisable to book a reservation especially if you have a bigger party. We ordered a few sushi rolls and the party tray. It was way too much food for just the 4 of us girls. Quality and freshness of the food was mediocre. Price and Presentation was not bad. We were all definitely full from what we paid for. Location is very convenient except for limited parking in that tiny plaza, however there is plenty of free street parking close by.

Been here a couple of times. like the prices and the special rolls especially the fantastic roll. probably one of the best rolls ive ever had. I was so surprised how much value you get for such good rolls. we had 4 people in our group and were so impressed by how much we got for $ 45. The sashimi is ok, my only complaint is its cut too big and the cuts lack finesse. other than that, the rolls, salads and cones are great. Good for casual sushi.

Worst sushi ever. BBQ eel roll had tony slivers of eel. Tasted like cinnamon. They subbed out sushi rice inside the rolls for low grade long grain rice. The texture was weird and flavour different to say the least. This is a good example of a restaurant trying to cheap out on ingredients to maximize profit. Be careful about asking for sriracha to make a hand roll spicy. It results in a .50 cent up charge. That’s fine if you know in advance and choose to accept the charge but I’ve never heard of that before. Seems ultra cheap and low lads to me for a sushi restaurant. Fish was very low grade. Tea cups were… disgusting. See pics. One word… AVOID

We don’t mind to have sushi or causal Japanese food in the hot day(as long as no cook at home on weekend)! Found another casual Japanese restaurant with good reviews on Unilocal. It’s located on Oak and 49th Ave. It’s Japanese restaurant run by Korean. It was relatively cheap and generous portion of food. Spicy chopped scallop cone — over sauced and so soaky! Hamachi & Sockeye salmon — A bit frozen taste. Awesome Roll wasn’t awesome coz of Korean sushi too much sauce. Nigiri were mediocre, saba was salty and fishy. Sorry…No rush to come back for Korean Japanese sushi.

A japanese restaurant that’s Korean owned on oak and 49th. We decided to order take out for the night. U have order 1 day before u get 10% off. If u order 2 hours before u pick up ur order u get 5% off. We order at 4:45 to pick up at 6:45. Got there at 6:50 and paid right away. The server told me to go wait in the front reception area and will call my name and bring me the take out when it’s ready. I waited 30 minutes and still no sign of my take out. I went up and asked the waitress again. I told her I ordered at 4 something to pick up at 6 something and waited for half an hour. She asked for my name and the takeout was JUSTSITTINGTHERE. It was ready a long time ago! I asked if the food was just sitting there and she just said«sorry» with no explanation and left. That was extremely bad customer service. Besides the service was not so good, the food was not bad. I hope they have a better take out system as they have LOTS of takeouts.

They didn’t draw in the eye yet for the Daruma. When they do draw it in they should get a wish? I think that’s how it goes. For those of you who are confused by that opening statement, if you know what a Daruma is, then you’ll understand. My first visit here, not too long ago, impressed me enough to come back a few more times within a short duration. The place looked really familiar. Very much like a certain sushi place on Kingsway across from Metrotown in Burnaby. Hmmmm. I was assured that the owners here are different, even though they are both Korean owned and run. I’ve always wanted to try this place ever since it first opened. Now that I’ve been here a few times, I figured it was enough to be able to write a proper review. Interesting how the company I bring determines the outcome of my feelings when writing the review. My first time was with Vincci L and that first time being a virginal diner here, I was impressed. The only setback was a small bone in my salmon sashimi.(actually it’s a big No No for me if I find bones.). It only brought my thoughts for a review down a notch to four stars. Service was very good despite being very busy. Second time my visit wasn’t as delectable and the service was slower despite being less busy. Having brought with me this time, my celebrity friend from Japan and the infamous Japanese Critique in our après ski wear from Whistler. There were a few things to note. The good — Uni was excellent! Awesome batch that day. The not so good, Negi Hama was not Negi Hama. We had the Hamachi, but couldn’t find the chopped negi(green onions) minced in with the Hamachi. Of course the Japanese Critique had to say something about that. For me? I liked what I ordered. What I noticed was that even though this place looks just like the one in Burnaby, it isn’t. Kind of like Identical twins but the parents are different. Sushi Mura, I can say is good, but it’s not Japanese. I would say it’s Korean Sushi and that’s a good thing still. Will I return? Of course! Today’s sushi was average, but the uni was exemplary. It must’ve been a good batch! Hooray for us!

We came here for a late lunch around 2:30pm. I didn’t realize they close at 3pm to prepare for dinner. As we walked in, the server told us that last call is at 2:50. We were okay with that because It didn’t take us too long to place our order. They had inexpensive specialty rolls and deep fried California roll that caught our attention so we ordered a few rolls(Awesome roll, Fantastic roll, chopped scallop roll, deep fried California roll) plus salmon sashimi and two order of ikura nigiri to share. The food wasn’t bad. The specialty rolls were delicious and had a lot of ingredients. The salmon sashimi was cold and very fresh. The only downside was the customer service. I wasn’t a fan at all. I understand that they are closing soon but it doesn’t give them a reason to act rude towards other customers who are still dining at the restaurant. Two incidents I witnessed that showed poor customer service: 1. A table wanted to add one more item a few minutes after the last call and the server said«we are done with last call!» but she ended up making the exception with a big sigh. 2. A lady walked in wanting to place take-out and the server just yelled«We are closed. No you cannot order. We are closed!». She seemed pretty aggravated and was dead serious about closing soon. Because of this, I don’t think I will be coming back but this place is worth trying out.

Ugh… Nice décor and decent service. The food was not good. The rolls had way too much rice. Absolutely not proportional. They are also rather sloppy looking(plz look at photos). The sockeye sashimi was just OK, the dark orange/red colour was a bit off, a little dull.

The line up Drew us in. The decorations for Halloween were great. It showed promise. The cups were adorable and high end. The service was good. The price is reasonable. Then it stops there. The food is pretty horrible. The sashimi is a medium grade. Average presentation. I’ll say that the UNi sashimi was good. But the rolls were pretty bad– too much rice, not the right rice and just poor flavor. The tempura was not crispy. The gyoza tasted and looked like the frozen ones you buy at the supermarket. Their seafood salad was probably the worse. Definitely not recommend unless you are super hungry and don’t want to go far and are on a budget or you want your first date not to work well.

Despite the recent insurgence of Korean owned sushi restaurants, this one is a standout to me. I arrived around 6pm on a weekday night, and although the small parking lot where it’s located was full, there was plenty of free street parking around. Upon entry, my friend and I were seated right away. I like the décor of the place, simple, and fancier than your neighborhood sushi spot. Tea was served, and I was surprised that it was actually ‘real’ tea, not the hot water with a sprinkle of tea leaves. Also, they use actual plates, rather than the plastic ones. The menu also has a good selection and prices are reasonable. We got an order of toro sashimi, volcano roll, and a deluxe chirashi don. Food took a little longer to arrive, but it was worth the wait. The sashimi was fresh. I really liked how the volcano roll has a small pile of spicy salmon on top. My favourite is the chirashi don. Not only did it come with a good selection of assorted sashimi, but there are also seaweed flakes sprinkled on the rice which made this rice bowl extra delicious. Service was decent, and they actually came around to refill our tea. I noticed there was a wait starting to build up as we were about to finish our meal, so I’d advise people to come early and grab a table!

I’ve eaten food from this restaurant numerous times now. The first time I went, I loved it. It was relatively cheap, food was delicious, well plated and the servers were attentive. The second time I went, the service was slightly lacking. The 3rd time I went, I was NOT pleased. I’ve never had to wait 55 minutes for take out just to find out our order was taken by some other guy 1 minute before we asked the waitress, «where’s our take out?» Why didn’t she check the bill? And during our wait, we were never once offered tea of any sort. And when my dad asked for a cup of tea(albeit near the beginning of our wait), the nerve of the waitress to tell my dad twice, «you have to return the cup». Who in the world would steal a plastic cup? And it only took them 7 minutes to recreate our order. So what took so long? I know you’re busy, but 55 minutes for take out is unheard of. I have no complaints about the chefs, but«some» of the waitresses simply weren’t very pleasant It’s no wonder they give you a 5% discount if you call 2 hours in advance for take out or 10% discount if you let them know 1 day in advance. The advanced notice works… Sometimes -.- HIGHLIGHT: The crazy rabbit roll is good! I like how it’s a nice mix between being sweet and spicy. Good crunch too if they cut the cucumber thin enough. A little bit messy to eat, but I always order it. I don’t particularly like their spider rolls, kimchi fried rice, chicken udon and tonkatsu. But it’s not like the food’s bad, just not particularly spectacular. Everything else I’ve had so far, is okay. Newest update: this place just went from 4 to 3 to 2 stars in my books. Service and speed has improved. I liked the fact our tea was constantly refilled. But the food just keeps deteriorating. The gomae is overpriced and tiny. My favourite crazy rabbit roll has went from extremely good to extremely disappointing. The cucumber wasn’t thin enough and there’s no crunch to it. Mangodise roll no longer has actual mango on it and is nothing but sweet. The Atlantic salmon sashimi was simply fat and gooey… simply not fresh enough. The California roll was nothing but rice formed poorly and with little immitation crab meat in it. One word: disappointed!
