SushiLano is true to Japanese roots, but still conveys western takes on sushi. I would recommend the true Japanese dishes, as they are likely the best you will affordably find in Vancouver. More importantly, SushiLano is run by a wonderful man and woman who always make you feel very special. I wish I could go back right now! All the sushi is made by the one man, and if there are other diners in the restaurant you may have to wait — but it is worth it! Best sushi I ate during my short stay in Vancouver!(I had sushi at least seven times)

Got the spicy tuna roll and ebi sunomo salad. My pretty basic 2 go to’s. Both lacked flavour.

When I moved in across the street I was so excited to have sushi just steps away! But unfortunately it’s poor quality. We got take out the first time a while back and barely ate any of it. We gave it one more try and same thing, it was gross. It’s very disappointing :( We walk a couple blocks down for our sushi now, the only one in this neighbourhood we like is Nicks sushi.

We originally planned to go Oakwood Bistro for brunch before the hair cut. However, they were so busy and needed to wait for 40 mins. We just saw a small Japanese restaurant cross the street and found it was highly rated in urbanspoon! Ok. Just give it a try! What a mistake! The restaurant is tiny, it only have 4 tables and doesn’t have a proper kitchen. From what I could see, they have a microwave and toaster oven behind the sushi bar. Hmm… We ordered salmon sashimi, however, the chef came and told to us the salmon was not good and fresh for sashimi today. Therefore, we changed the order to tuna sashimi. Each piece of tuna sashimi was thick and big, but, it wasn’t taste fresh! We’re definitely disappointed with the taste and quality of the sushi roll. The rice was a bit bland and somewhat stale. Sorry… no return.

Tonight was my first time at Sushi Lano and I will be back. Very warm and friendly service, good food and relaxing, quaint surroundings … A great find in Kits! Give it a try!

This small little place definitely surprised. Inexpensive and not too crowded, everything tasted fresh and clean. Chicken was all chicken breast for those that don’t like dark meat. Veggie sunomono had mango which was good and the chicken don buri wasn’t drenched in sauce. Free edamame and green tea at your table too.

I’m a big fan of the small Japanese restaurant — they are often so pleasant with good food at reasonable prices. Sushi Lano is no exception — a great, cozy place, the owners make you feel very warm and welcome. One thing I quite like about Sushi Lano is that they have a great variety of specialty rolls — sure, it might not be fully traditional but it’s great to have a wide choice! Going to Sushi Lano makes me feel like I’m in a Miyazaki film, warm and comfortable!

I’m not sure why, but the take home menu confirms that this place is named«Sushi Land Japanese Restaurant» even though there seems to be a listing for«Naan Sushi» at that same phone/address(although now that I think of it, I think I saw a Naan Sushi in that area). My boyfriend ordered an order of Spring Rolls and an order of Yam Rolls. Personally the Yam rolls looked the more interesting than the spring rolls, however they were stuffed with shiitake mushrooms(which I love but not everyone does). A different recipe for sure and the portions were HUGE(and the mushrooms were fabulous). Wait staff were very pleasant and helpful, suggesting that it may take 15 minutes, so we wandered East up 4th to Shoppers Drugmart then back. Would definitely go again.

This is the most amazing sushi! I had the sushi and sashimi box last night and it was amazing. It started with green salad and miso soup(best miso I’ve had) and then came some yam tempura. After that I got a plate with 3 pieces of tuna and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi, as well as salmon, tuna and ebi sushi. I also go agadashi tofu and fish tempura and an alaska roll as well. After I was partially through that, out arrived the chef’s special which was some sort of fried spinach and tuna roll… delicious. This was all for the amazing price of $ 15.95 and was absolutely beautifully displayed.
