Awesome little bistro in Kerrisdale with amazing to go items. Or just dine in and enjoy. Local owners are amazing and friendly. The home made salad dressings to go cannot be beat !!

I came in for the first time today, hungry and cold. Loved the place. They have a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. I had the tomato lentil soup, which was delicious. And a London fog to drink — superb. Totally recommend for vegetarians and vegans! Server was super friendly and helpful. I left feeling warm and happy. I will definitely come back.

We often have breakfast at «stock up». We love this place. The breakfast is delicious and the service outstanding. They have a great selection of takeout items too. This is so convenient if you can’t be bothered to cook something for dinner! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing & Surprised: Former regular customer Saturday, 18 July @ 9.15am. I have visited this café more than a few times when work brings me to the area(I work with the Vet hospital). Always for breakfast. Always order the ‘traditional breakfast“ Was told by the young lady(not owner) med boiled eggs not allowed(only poached??). Then the young lady explained to me that poached were«just like boiled, but without the shell». That was very helpful. At the moment there were 2 or 3 other tables, the cook had no other orders. I advised the young lady if they could not accommodate, White Spot would(just down the street). I was told, bye bye. So, a mom and pop businesses turned away a customer over 2 eggs. Why would a business feel that strongly over 2 boiled eggs? Just a tiny note, perhaps a bit«nit-picky», but the sign does say 2 eggs«any style».

Great coffee, enjoyable lunch. My favorite dish is the beet salad, although the turkey sandwich is a very close second.

[Stocking my Stomach] Stock up is a fantastic place to sit back and watch the world go by. There’s a certain charm this little café exudes that keeps me coming back time after time — it’s my urban«Zen» garden. The café’s setup is much like a Bread Garden — you order at the counter and they bring your food out. For everything else(ie. Cutlery, water garnishes, etc.), you’re left to fend for yourself. Most of their entrees are in the display case so you can see what you’re ordering. Quality-wise, food is made the morning of and I think it’s good for what it is. Bear in mind that this is a café and not a Michelin-star restaurant. My personal fave is the Beef dip sandwich accompanied by a bowl of soup. For the indecisive, they let you sample the soups before signing your life away. Value-wise, Stock up is above average. A sandwich and soup will cost $ 10 – 15 which is pretty good considering the location and quality. Ambience is where this place really shines. It feels like I’m dining on the set of one of those fancy food network cooking shows. The kitchen is open to the dining area so the wonderful aromas hit you the moment you walk through the door. You can see all the cooks slicing, dicing, and marinating away in the back. On one wall are canned and pre-packaged food items for purchase — chocolates, cookies, gift baskets, etc. On the other is a fridge full of pre-made meals in ceramic bowls and plates you can take to go(With a $ 5 deposit for the china of course). Each table is decorated with a small vase with a seasonal flower — casual enough for a study session yet chic enough to take gal on a lunch date.(Or a lunch date study session!) So if you’re in the neighborhood and have some time to kill, you may want to pop by. Do keep in mind that they close at 7pm — after all, it IS Kerrisdale.

Having jet-lag, I woke up very early and felt the desire to go out for breakfast for once. After looking through Unilocal,I came across Stock Up near my place and decided to check it out. Atmosphere is very nice, and the staff was very friendly. Maybe she was nice because it was still early in the day and there weren’t busy. Besides their take-home foods, they also sell other items like candies and tea, which I could see them being sold in Trader Joe’s. I bought an instant cappuccino powder and a lemon drop candy which I have already tried and will say it’s pretty good. I didn’t buy their take-home foods but the soup looks good and I hope to buy some in the near future. I was a little disappointed that the sandwiches were already made since I like my stuff made on the spot. So I went with the omelet with cheese, spinach and turkey ham and a cup of mocha. I felt the omelet was expensive, but the portion was quite big and came with four pieces of toasts and rosemary potatoes. The potatoes were over-fried in my opinion, but the toast and omelet was quite nice. I love mocha, and it is my way to determine whether the drinks at the place is good because a good mocha needs a good coffee and a good hot chocolate. Stock Up used melted chocolate instead of hot chocolate. This gave an interesting aromatic taste that went well with the coffee which I liked, but I will admit that it is not a taste for everyone. Overall Stock Up is a fairly nice place for some simple meal. I hope to go back there to get some different meals including the soup.

On an overcast Thursday morning my friend DA and I walked the quiet streets of Kerrisdale. There was a melancholy breeze and she pointed out the beauty of the cherry blossoms in her neighbourhood. I quietly ponder to myself would my life be wasted if I spent my time searching for the truly«perfect» cherry blossom?(you’ll have to watch the Last Samurai with Tom Cruise to understand that reference). My friend wanted to go have coffee at McDonald’s, but being a pretentious b@st@rd I said no way lets go to Faubourg instead. She scoffed at my suggestion and said that she knew the perfect spot. I said ok I’m going to write about this on my Unilocal account! She was appalled! She said her spot was perfect cuz it was quiet and out of the way… away from the unwashed masses… hahaha! My response was fear not I have but 9 ‘friends ‘on Unilocal!90% of my friends are non-active Unilocal practitioners… they neither write any reviews nor read any of my reviews! Fear not DA your secret coffee spot is safe no matter what I write! Haha! After a short walk we arrived and Stock Up. Cozy enough I thought. A bit out of the way, but certainly pleasant enough looking from the outside. We ordered and the space cadet behind the counter did not ask us if we were staying in or taking out our food. This guy was not happy working here… we weren’t given cups nor plates for our food! Should I have played the race card on this guy? Hey is because I’m Asian I don’t deserve a cup and plate? Well enough of my ranting. We had coffees and we shared a slice of chocolate banana cake and a lemon cake. Both were acceptable. Stock Up is a cozy spot to have coffee and ponder the Great Questions of Life! I would come back. Hopefully, I’m not being served by a bearded fool! Haha

Type: Breakfast Picture this! The sun is out, the sky is blue, and a neighborhood is out on a frosty morning. You can see your own breath as you exhale the cold winter air. The best thing to pair with such a morning is dropping by a soup kitchen for a hot cup of literally anything! Stock Up was the place I stopped by on a day exactly like that. I was around the beautiful neighborhood of Kerrisdale and was looking for a place to take my father for breakfast. As we entered the restaurant, we were hit with the rich aromas of both hot coffee and cooked herbs. Special that day was something I’ve never heard before but was curious about. The clerk notified me that I could try any soup I wanted, and boy did that help. Carrot Orange Ginger Soup. Exactly what I needed, and I never even knew that was a thing! After our order, we were also introduced to a holiday blend of coffee they had on special. We left satisfied and extremely pleased that our day started on such a wonderful and warm note.

I have been going to Stock Up for the past couple of years as I live in Kerrisdale. Their Soups and hot sandwiches are unbelievable!!! They are home-made every day and always different. I have a family of 6 and don’t always want to cook a dinner from scratch, so I go to their cooler and grab a fresh pre made dinner. I often grab a few meals to go as all I have to do is heat it up in my microwave or in the oven. If you don’t want to pay the $ 5 deposit for the dishes they just put them into plastic ones for me. I like that as I often forget to return the dishes. The service is great, but I particularly like the blond haired owner Simone. She is SO sweet and friendly. I think this little café is fantastic!!! I highly recommend it.

The over-priced version of Bread Garden/Urban Café lol. But it’s great for casual atmosphere & free wifi. Hard to sit any longer b/c of its hard, wooden seat, guess that’s the whole idea. Free street parking, thx goodness no city meters here — yet.

I recently started working in Kerrisdale and very quickly realized how unfamiliar I was with the area. Where would I get lunch? What if I was immediately starving after work? What about an afternoon coffee? What oh what would I do?! Well, apparently all I have to do is go to Stock Up! This is an interesting little mix of café, deli and shop. They have a selection of sandwiches, soups, pastries, coffees — the usual suspects. But they also have frozen soups to take home, various other grocery-type food items, spices, trinkets, etc. One thing that I think is particular special about this place is that for their take-out they offer ceramic dishes and real cutlery for a $ 5 deposit, which is returned upon return of the dishes. Environmentally sound for the win! Oh, and they also have beers and such! If you’re in the area, check it out for sure!

My first few visits were far from exciting. I kept returning because it was convenient for me. But one day someone behind the counter insisted I try the soups of the day and I became addicted to this place. I have spoken to a few others who have tried this place and had more misses than hits, but I have to say that with such a wide variety of foods, it’s just bad luck when you order the wrong thing. Once you try more of their items you can get a sense of what you like. It’s worth it, because there are real gems in this place, i.e. beef dip sandwiches, bolognese sauce to take home, and what won me over: the chili. While this doesn’t sound as exciting as I am trying to make it sound, when you find your favourite item here it will plague you until you get it again!

I really like this soup and sandwich place. The area is spacious and the food is simple, but tasty. You can have breakfast for about $ 8 and it includes 2 eggs, sourdough toast, 1 bacon, and a side order of potatos or fruit salad. For lunch, you can order a variety of soup and sandwiches, like a toasted tuna melt with a manhattan clam chowder. What I really love is sitting by the window, sipping an organic, fair trade tasty coffee in the morning.

I really enjoy the food and atmosphere in here, and am happy to be the first to review. Ah, the restaurant is in my hands. First I would like to say I really like the cafeteria/deli style ordering system. Just line up and first come first serve(no numbers to grab). Secondly the place is spotless. Free 2 hr parking out front is nice. My recommendation for food would be limited to breakfast as I have only been here for breakfast. On that topic I would recommend the bacon breakfast burrito. It is filled with bacon, squash, egg abd serves with a side of sour cream and salsa. Great place for a Kerrisdale morning.
