I have been to this restaurant a few times and I love the L.A. Galbi, a beef shortrib dish that comes with rice and 4 different side dishes. The food was delicious and the server was friendly and attentive. The place is modern and clean and prices are pretty good. I came here with my friend a previous time and she enjoyed the beef bulgogi dish. They serve beer and wine too. I ordered the Asahi and it pairs well with the L.A. Galbi dish. I’ll definitely be back !

This is a somewhat new Korean restaurant on Fraser street. It’s my first time being in this place. The server was very attentive considering he is the only server for the entire customers today. We ordered two main dishes and it came with four vegetable side dishes including kimchi, picked bean sprouts, sweet potatoes and pickled cabbage. The side dishes were very delicious and appetizing. They are also refillable. The BBQ beef came with rice. The portion of the beef was very generous and it also contained rice cake in it. It is however on a sweeter side. The dumpling with rice cake soup was was average. Overall, I feel that it is an very average restaurant. The only downside was that we both felt very thirsty after the meal even when we had already drank a lot of water in the restaurant.

Food quality is disappointing. Seems like they cook for the chinese customers. The prices are what you would expect from a Korean restaurant but the food quality should make the price drop by 40−50% off. Korean food court joint in Aberdeen Mall serves better food at a much lower price point. Also this place is not properly air conditioned. It’s too cold.

After dropping by here on a whim, my friend and I ordered the Dinner for Two and was mostly disappointed by what was offered. The combo came with appetizer soup(chicken broth), side dishes, fried mandoos, japchae and bulgogi. The entire combo for $ 29.99 plus tax was really small on the portion size. The soup was lukewarm and only half a bowl while the mandoos and japchae came out before any of the side dishes arrived. My friend noticed the japchae was warm some places and cold some places, suggesting that it had been pre-cooked and then hastily heated, which would explain why the two dishes came out so amazingly/frighteningly fast. Finally, the bulgogi came and once again, the portion size was disappointing. The meat was chewy and full of sinew and the rice that came along with it was hard/dried out. The side dishes were far from amazing too. I was thoroughly disappointed by the potatoes that seemed dry and old. Overall, for the price it was, the experience was not ideal. I’ve had much more better in other Korean restaurants and I would not come back. If you’re really looking for authentic and quality Korean food, this is not the place to go, I would suggest Robson in Downtown! Too bad, it could’ve been really good. I was disappointed that I did not enjoy as much as I thought I would.

Soon Du by here was on point and hit the spot for rainy day blues! Thanks to Unilocal,we stumbled upon this place and were happy with our experience here. Service was friendly and fast, parking was easy, prices weren’t too bad, and flavors were authentic. All the side dishes were seasoned well, my seafood soon Du bu had just the right amount of heat(I liked how the seafood came clean and the shrimp managed to not be overcooked), and the dol sot bibimbop was enjoyed as well. Yum. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you’re craving korean food and in the area!

A local Korean restaurant, hooray! Came here for dinner with my mom and tried the pork belly slices and seafood jjigae. The side dishes were tasty and I think one was a bit different than what I was used to. The restaurant is laid out in a very long fashion, so if it’s busy you might end up sitting all the way in the back and I’m not sure how service might be all the way back there. Wasn’t sure if ordering 2 dishes would be enough for 2 people, but it definitely was. The cabbage pork belly wrap was very very tasty, although I found that there wasn’t enough cabbage to wrap all the meat, which was weird. My favourite however was the seafood jjigae, which definitely hit the spot for me. It was packed with food, instead of being a more soupy dish that I’m used to. Hope this restaurant sticks around!

This is just what we needed in the area. All the main dishes you want as far as authentic Korean cuisine goes. Reasonably priced, tastes like your Korean aunties home cooked meals. Maybe better. Probably better. I’ll always recommend this place to friends or family who are in the area. I’m sure if you try So Hyang you will too! It’s not super fancy but it’s exactly what the area needed. Super glad to have this restaurant around the area — thank you So Hyang and Staff! Will be back soon. Again and again. Oh and they also serve beer and soju :)

New local Korean joint. Enough to bring in the crowd? As with most small sized Korean restaurants, there is a strong sense of team work and heart amongst the staff. This family style restaurant is great. It has a small menu and the prices are fair. Food hits the notes but can’t say it knocks it out of the park. However. That’s more than enough as they perform very well as a local favorite. You get the sense that they are going for the perfect small local restaurant as opposed to the big impersonal and highly overhyped type. Ultimately, this is the type of restaurant you want to come back to and support because they offer something to the community. An honest and hard working restaurant that is happy to serve you.

Service is good at this new restaurant but the taste for both dishes ordered — jap chae and sweet & sour deep fried chicken — could be vastly improved. The jap chae tasted more Chinese than Korean and didn’t come with rice and the s&s chicken pieces were sticking to teeth. Nevertheless, I am willing to give this place another try, but for now, Hansik remains my neighborhood korean go-to restaurant.

Very delicious food! Usually Korean people are not used to smiling but this waiter(chef’s son) is always smiling and very kind to recommend us the good dishes. This restaurant is small and cozy. The pork belly is very testy with well cooked cabbage. The hot tofu pot is so delicious! We are so happy to discover a Korean restaurant in our Fraser street neighborhood. We will definitely often come here.

Very nice cozy restaurant. Delicious and authentic Korean cuisine. The pork belly with cabbage is perfect. It is the best I have ever had. The side dish are very tasty. The kimchi is what I like, not raw, and not too sour. My wife ordered the Tofu beef soup. Also very good. Definitely we will come back.

Delicious home-made Korean food run by mom in the kitchen and son serving. The spicy seafood tofu soup was very tasty with the right amount of spice and broth. It had clams, squid and egg… Could’ve had a few prawns but definitely filling. The cold spicy buckwheat noodle bowl was a miss. The server apologized the broth was missing and would correct this next time. The major plusses were the side dishes — potatoes, sprouts, pressed tofu and anchovies! We asked for refills and they were very generous. They also gave us a complimentary egg dish and orange slices… Plus 10% off since it was their grand opening. Service was attentive and tea/water replenished. Great addition to Fraser Street and want to return for the seafood pancake and bibimbap!
