Very annoyed to see this place closed down, and bought by an Asian couple that is putting in another Asian restaurant. Prohibition had drinks and menu items that were unique and delicious. Good Wolfe and Prohibition gone in the same week. Damn.

Hmmm. where to start? Food? I ordered the chicken. oops. It came with an apology because it took so long which is fine except everyone else was drinking and I was one of the few eating. Potatoes! YUM… favourite…and at least 6 of them were crunchy… it gets worse… the CHICKEN… cut into the bastard. blood everywhere. I switched to the cooked part cause i was so hungry. BUT. the staff was ok… All I can say is… DOBETTER! I’m not going back even though it is right below my apartment… sad

Excellent! The prohibition tasting room is a new favourite! I ordered the duck wings, kale salad and a moonshine sour cocktail and was very impressed with everything. I saw a few other dishes go out to customers and they also looked top notch. The bar has a really casual and social vibe to it. The music is excellent, and the staff are really friendly. No doubt one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in vancouver! I’ll be back!

I thought the beer was just OK. No new favorites. I know dim lights are hip, so maybe I’m not because I found the lack of light more irritating than anything else.

Atmosphere was too dark and the beer was mediocre. Wasn’t a fan of the amber beer, the honey was probably the best of the beers that I tried in the flight.

Prohibition is another hip, dimly lit addition to Yaletown’s trendy nightlife. Walk in, and… well, you might just catch a glimpse of the bartenders(seriously, it’s extremely dimly lit). The bar is the room’s rectangular centrepiece, while tables and booths skirt the walls. Since it was just two of us, we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar and studied the menu over a candlelight. The cocktails are reasonably priced and sound good – a friend swears by the whiskey sours here – but we felt like pints. And hey, Prohibition does brew their own beer, so I was curious to check out what they had. I ended up choosing the scotch ale. Not the most remarkable one I’ve had, but pretty decent – don’t expect a standout caramel flavour. Pints come in cool mason jar glasses, so that’s pretty fun. They’re also good value for money at $ 5 a pop. Would I come back here? Probably. Those cocktails looked damn good.

We stopped in at this cool Yaletown tasting room to enjoy a few beers after a recent Whitecaps match. I found the service to be helpful, the food although limited is quite tasty and the beer is definitely worth trying. The space has a kind of speakeasy vibe and is roomy enough for a decent crowd. It would actually be a really cool place to host a party or event. Do yourself a favour and head down to the south end of Yaletown to check this joint out!

Checked out this joint in Yaletown a few weeks ago. Great vibe and an awesome assortment of mixed drinks! Even their gin and tonic comes with a cute little bottle of tonic. In terms of the food, a few of us had pasta. Nothing wrong with the pasta but probably wouldn’t go back just for the food! However, it’s a really nice place to catch up with friends and hang out.

Solid craft beer tasting bar. It’s not quite to the standard in terms of beer or atmosphere of somewhere like ‘Brass Neck’, but it is a welcome addition to the overly standard Yaletown bar scene. The flight of 4⁄5 beers is decent enough quality, but lacks distinction of many other craft taster bars. Since its opened, and after five visits, I don’t recall the 4⁄5 flight beer offerings ever changing! If you’re peckish try he chilli jerky, it’s fantastic. Overall, a decent ‘impression’ of the ever popular Vancouver tasting bar

Really great prices for what you get and where you get it! The feel of the place is very comfortable and it has a great patio. I ate the«Seasonal Veggies» and have become an addict I think:) My friend had the Poutine and raved about it! It’s a great place in Yaletown to enjoy a couple drinks in a great environment with a serious lack of pretentious attitude:)

Some girlfriends and I recently checked out Prohibition Brewing Co. on a Sunday afternoon. I was a bit hesitant as I’m not a huge fan of beer — or craft beer in particular — but I was pretty delighted to see that Prohibition also offered craft cocktails(many of which contained beer and were still delicious). We were attended to by the manager himself who was happy to offer beverage suggestions and food pairings that went well with our libations. I started with the Cascadian cocktail and followed up with the Moonshine Sour. The Moonshine Sour was easily one of the most memorable cocktails I’ve ever tasted and had me coming back for seconds(and thirds). Though their craft beer is the main draw, Prohibition also offers food plates for lunch and dinner. The housemade chips and garlic mayo slayed me with their crispiness and garlicky goodness, and my friend was supremely impressed by her brie and avocado sandwich. The vibe inside Prohibition is fantastic. It has none of the pretense you’d stereotypically expect in Yaletown. Just a cool, comfy place to hang out and have a few drinks and eats. I’d easily give it five stars if they expanded their food menu but I understand that beer is their focus and they’re still in start-up mode, so my first impression is one of a truly solid effort. I’ll definitely be back!

A nice friendly place to grab a drink and a bite. Everyone is warmly greeted on arrival by the gracious staff. Although their offerings are modest in comparison to other places, the food and drinks are of excellent quality. I would recommend a visit.

Despite having worked behind the bar at Wellesley College for Women’s fine, fine liquor establishment, The Pub… I know very little abt beer. I like it to be wheaty. I like a Hefe… and yeah… I will drink a Miller Lite if pressed — so, after abolishing my street cred in the EtOH dept, I have to say, I did enjoy Prohibition. Rolled in on a quiet Sunday night, so aside from some group of gals all running game on the same impressively bearded bartender and a couple of of other randos, it was calm enough that I have no idea what the normal crowd is like — but, I’m guessing a little hipstery/normal young person type thing… like…my best guess is that it’s not secretly a biker bar. Beers some in lil mason jars(adorable) and they have 5 on tap — I hit the honey lager, which was pleasantly sweet w/o being cloying — and sampled the bootlegger amber and the scotch ales — too dark for me, but I respect that they are tasty in that hopsy/wow I’m drinking grass kind of way. Prices are reasonable, I think — $ 5.75 for a jar of booze, and if you have indecision, you can do a flight of beer for $ 7.5. Cocktails sounded excellent, but I didn’t feel like anything strong — they’re all $ 9.5 — w names like a Moonshine Sour(points for using walnut bitters) or a Runout(a blend of things that will get you drunk + marachino, lemon, and thyme). If you’re hungry, the poutine looked tasty, as did the mouelles frites and pretzel rolls — all well portioned and relatively cheap — I think under $ 15 each… and they also have something called a jerky cone, which simultaneously sounds terrifying and glorious, depending on how you like to nosh. Overall, a pleasant place to «grab a pint», which I think is how kids refer to getting crunk these days — relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere w what I considered to be enjoyable booze, but like I said, I have no beer standards, so make of this advice what you will.

Great beer and a perfect sample of what Prohibition brewery has to offer. The menu is very straight forward with wine, cocktails and signature beers(5). Foods actually seem to pair nicely with the beers. Also a huge breath of fresh air to have a microbrew in Yaletown out side of Yaletown brewery. If you enjoy a craft beer there’s no reason at all to not check it out. Strongly recommended.

Prohibition’s tasting lounge recently opened in Yaletown. Prohibition brews their craft beer up in Kelowna, and I’ve tried their beer from liquor stores in the past, however it was a nice change to grab a pint after work on tap. I ordered the Prohibition flight of 4 beers, which gives a good representation of the currently 5 available beers. If you’re into the craft beer scene, I’d highly recommend a stop at Prohibition. I enjoyed all of their beers — they’re all well balanced(my favorite was the Smuggler Scotch Ale). NOTE: They currently aren’t licensed for off-sale of their beers from the tasting bar With regards to food, the menu is simple and has a small selection of tasting plates. I wasn’t impressed with the beer nuts, as they appeared to be an item that could be offered free of charge. In paying for the nuts, I expected a little better presentation/quality. Pretzel knots were tasty, but were fluffy bread sticks, unlike a traditional pretzel. This place promises to only get better, as they mentioned plans to include a growler-fill station. Also, with upcoming seasonal beers, I’ll be sure to return to try some more
