Pride of Vancouver Charters

I attended the NYE 2015 cruise. Arriving on time, there was over a ½ hour wait outside to enter the boat and then the boat departed a ½ hour late. We were assigned a table number that didn’t exist, staff provided us with another table then asked us to move to yet another one. The boat was freezing on the top floor, and I was wearing a winter jacket. The staff were unhelpful except for Brodie, who made our night worthwhile. While booking tickets the midnight drink was described as champagne but it turned out were were given sparkling wine. There was one bartender for the whole boat, so the lineup was easily 20 minutes to get a drink. The food was mediocre, although it was warm. The staff overall appeared to be extremely disorganized and unable to manage this event. The cost of the night was nowhere near worth the experience; I recommend people thinking twice about booking if they want to have a good time.

I made a reservation online for 2015 firework night cruise about a month ago. After a few days, I phoned back to confirm the reservation. The guy told me that making reservation on their webpage doesn’t count unless I phone the company and provide the credit card info. Then, I provided my credit card info and reservation is done. Today, I just phoned them to make sure where I should be departure and I was told my reservation is not done since they wasnt sure if I am serious about making reservation. I am really speechless… I provided my credit card info and considered as not serious. Really disappointed since my wife and I were looking forward to see firework on cruise and the review on Unilocal for this company is really good…

I was on one of the boats the Star of Vancouver about two years ago for a 40^th birthday party. The boat had a very elegant feel with the eating area and dance floor on the lower level and a beautiful spacious lounge on the upper level. The buffet was absolutely delicious with options including salmon and perfectly cooked roast beef. The music was set with a light hearted tone for dinner and then picked up and helped to set the mood as the party progressed into dancing and laughter (cocktails were flowing, with great bar service) The views of Vancouver by night were absolutely stunning. My friend that arranged the event had an airbrush artist on board so that the ladies could get designs airbrushed on their skin to match the colors of their dresses, I know, it sounds cheesy but it was actually a huge hit and made for some really colorful photos. I had been on a cruise in the past that went out of false creek and the outer deck was a lot more open than the deck on the Star which has a beautiful deck off the back perfect for pictures of science world and BC place as the back drop, it fully opens up nicely to the lounge area and gave a nice mix of indoor meets outdoor, what I really liked about the configuration is that the breeze was minimized. What an awesome evening… Well, fast forward and we are booked for the larger boat the Pride of Vancouver for a public cruise this Canada day! We love to have fun and to dance, if you do to we will hope to see you there! I trust that my review of the upcoming cruise will be as great as this one! Stay tuned. :)
PS the washrooms were impeccably clean and spacious. Pleasantly surprised.

We went on the pride of Vancouver for New Years 2013, a group of four of us. The buffet was AMAZING. I think my husband ate two whole plates! The Roast beef was perfection, and there was a great variety of salads. There was a DJ and a dance floor after they cleared the buffet and we all had a great night dancing. The captain took us on a tour of false creek and then back around to coal harbour to see some of the small fireworks going off around the city at midnight. We had a great evening, the place was decked out with decorations and the servers were great! We will definitely come back for a party cruise in the summer, super fun!

My boyfriend and I went on the New Year’s Cruise and had a fabulous time. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was good too. It was a little chilly when we first got on board, but it warmed up fast once we left the harbour. Champagne was served at midnight, and although it started as a sit down dinner buffet, there was lots of crazy dancing at the end. The dj had a few contests going to get everyone excited, and we ended up winning a shot each! It was amazing to see all the lights along the way, what a great way to ring in the new year. A night to remember for sure!

So… my boyfriend bought some LivingSocial coupons for a Christmas cruise in December, and we were really looking forward to it. I’d seen the boats circling downtown and I thought it would be a great way to take in the city skyline while having some good eats. The coupon was $ 80 for 2 people, and stated that it had a regular value of $ 160. Sounded like a sweet deal, amiright?
No.
It was not.
I actually felt really sad that Coop had paid that much money for us to have an evening out… because I honestly would have rather just gone to a nice restaurant on land. Here’s why:
1) We were seated right by the window– which I was really happy about at first… until I was dripped on… The windows were leaking from the top, and I was getting wet! It wasn’t just me, it seemed like everyone with a window seat was being dripped on… a server even came up at one point and wiped the window off for a lady who complained. I had also rested my mittens on the window ledge… and they were completely soaked by the time we left… it made for a chilly departure.
2) The food was awful. It was buffet-​style… There was salad, chicken, roast beef, baked pasta, steamed veggies… but that was about it. The food itself wasn’t bad… but considering we paid $ 40/​person, and we had to serve ourselves, you’d think there would be more options. The meats were probably the best part… and I felt bad for any vegan/​vegetarian, because they would have been stuck eating pasta. Lame.
3) The entertainment sucked. I’m sorry… I feel really bad saying this… but the girl who was singing Christmas carols wasn’t very good. No one should even attempt to hit Mariah’s notes in «All I Want For Christmas Is You» because the only person who can sing like MC is MC. Enough said.
4) The boat pretty much just went around in circles… the only view I really got was of Coal Harbour… I would have liked to see it go around Vancouver to False Creek… then we could’ve seen Stanley Park and English bay… but no.
5) It was THREE HOURS LONG. THREE HOURS. I was ready to leave after 45 minutes. There was a point when Cooper and I just mutually agreed that we wouldn’t be offended if the other took a social media break on their phone because we were dying of boredom.
6) All we were served for dessert was a measly piece of cheesecake. I didn’t even have a choice. I don’t even like cheesecake that much. I had to stop off somewhere afterward to grab a second dessert because I was THAT unsatisfied.
7) The windows got so foggy that you couldn’t even see outside after a while. That made it extra sucky.
8) The music sucked. They eventually opened a dance floor on the lower level. I went down to take a peek and there were some preteens dancing to some Black Eyed Peas (circa 2009)… but it was really lame. It was also a Christmas cruise… so there were christmas carols most of the time… but it was just playing off of someone’s iPod, so there was like random Jay-​Z mixed in there too. It was odd.
9) Alcohol was not included in the ticket price… I never assumed it would be… but I did think it was a bummer to not even recieve one drink ticket with our package. So we ended up ordering wine by the glass… and you get like 2 oz. of wine for like $ 6. The server kept forgetting our drink orders too… so we would lose our buzz. It ended up costing MORE than $ 40/​person in the end… and I could have had a WAY better dinner/​experience somewhere else for that price.
10) We were actually ripped off. When we called to make our reservations, we learned that we could only book on Tuesdays… We didn’t have a problem with this. But we were so bored while we were on the cruise, that we actually googled the company to see if anyone else had reviewed it… and came across the website where it actually tells you that Tuesdays are only $ 50/​person anyway… so we were only saving like $ 10/​person. They totally misrepresented themselves by saying that we were getting a deal in comparison to the Saturday prices…
It just wasn’t worth it. The whole experience was tacky and cheap. I would never do it ever again– or let any of my friends waste their money on this. I’m still annoyed that I will never get those 3 hours of my life back.
