This is our go to place by our house. They have a good variety of baked goods. Prices are just like every other bakery. One of our favorite chinese bakeries. Cakes are also decent. Love the fresh mango cake. Cash only though.

Smaller older location of Pine house bakery. Just south of 41st on Victoria drive where there are lots of Chinese grocery stores & restaurants. Almost like an alternate Chinatown. Pine house has a good variety of baked goods but lacks a few of my favorites like the deep fried football shaped dumpling. Also hot dog pastry lacked cheese like Maxims. Other buns large size but was full of air & not filling. Egg tarts also on the smaller side. Nevertheless all tasted good just like Ive known them to be when they were at the 280 e pender location{ nowclosed}. Owner was very nice here. He offered the freshest items to us that just came out of the oven. Extra star for that & less star for the smaller & obvious cost cutting measures.

I really wanted to LOVE this bakery, however, it was okay. It was nothing to write home about simply ’cause there is a better bakery 4 blocks down. The prices are slightly higher than others on the block(portions are smaller as well). Customer service is decent. They are cash only.

Marginally better than the Fraser St. location. This one’s very busy with a few supermarkets around here, smack in a busy residential area. Coconut buns are good there, but their pineapple ones are still a notch below, if not, two, Lido’s, New Town and Kam Do. Parking always tough on Victoria, even if they had metered parking. Cleaner store too.

Good variety of bakery cakes, desserts and pastries. Always good to have Hong Kong style bakery goods in the west. Many good deals on bakery related goods.

Since I was little, my parents have often come to this bakery to buy the usual Western influenced, Hong Kong style pastries to be kept as the afternoon snack or easy morning breakfast. This consisted mostly of cocktail buns and the pineapple buns. For those who are not familiar with Western influenced, Hong Kong style pastries: Cocktail bun: Non-alcoholic, buns with a sweet filling with shredded coconut bits. Pineapple bun: No traces of actual pineapples in or on the bun, simply a bun with a sweet crust on the top of the bun(patterned like a pineapple). They have a pretty good deal on their pastries. If my memory serves me right, you have to spend $ 10-$ 20 and they won’t charge you tax. They also encourage customers to buy in multiples: For example, the cocktail buns are cheaper if you buy in 3’s than by 1’s. There are also plenty of other buns that include ham, cheese and wieners, but those have names that are pretty much self explanatory. What’s also great about this bakery is that during the Dragon Boat Festival, they would sell the«zong zi», sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf. Some are sweet with red bean filling inside and others are salty with pork, green beans and the salted duck egg inside. Doesn’t sound too appealing, but it really is yummy! Just steam it up with boiling water for 20 minutes or so and you’re good to go. They also sell the standard mooncakes for the Chinese Moon Festival. Let’s just say you can depend on them to remind you what Chinese festival/holiday is coming up. There are also the Western influenced Hong Kong style cake slices sold, as well as birthday cakes. I would say Pine House Bakery a good stop if you’re in the neighbourhood and striving for some pastries to fill your hunger.
