If life in the states doesn’t work out for me, I’m moving to Vancouver and marrying Rona. Moose’s is loose, fun, and not a bit fussy. Stay away from the Caesymite, but everything else is fair game. And be sure to get a pic with the taxidermied moose head!

Everything from the checklist had been checked with this meal. Actual Australians having food around us and serving and from the music playing all the way to the delicious burger… top notch! Safe to say I’m «Full as a Boot» after that visit!

Absolutely my favourite pub to go to downtown. Corina and all of her staff offer the best service you can get at any pub or restaurant. She makes sure to remember the names of everyone who comes in, and once you’re a regular she gets your drink ready for you as soon as you walk in the door. I’ve never been to a place with such attentive service before. The food is pub food, but very good for pub food. Chicken strips are the best I’ve had in Vancouver, Chicken Parmies are excellent, and all the other food is pretty tasty. While the beer selection may lack a little, with a pitcher being around $ 13(if i recall correctly) I don’t mind at all. They also have Foundry cider on tap which is one of the best draught ciders around. Moose’s hosts a lot of Aussie sports events amongst the North American sports events. There is always a passionate crowd and a good atmosphere during these events. The clientèle that Corina and the crew have drawn in are all a very nice crowd, and you always feel comfortable. I’d recommend this bar to anyone. Vancouver gets a bad rap as an unfriendly city, but when I have people visiting I make sure to take them here so they can see how friendly some places in Vancouver can be!

Rude servers and terrible service. Would avoid this place. Because of the terrible service I only tipped 10% and the host commented on it. I shouldn’t have tipped at all. Never going back!

The pub quiz is fantastic. Staff are friendly. When the pub is quiet they close early. The food is not great. But I still like going here for drinks. It’s very relaxed.

We stopped in here for wine and a Manhattan. Not a good idea on either. If you’re looking for beer — this is your place.

Moose’s Down Under does a fantastic pub quiz on Wednesday’s at 7pm. I’ve gone twice now and each time it’s been really great. There are regular teams and first timers and everyone is down for a good time. Challenging for the mind and the beer and food is well priced! Very well priced in fact. Two of my friends and I ordered three appetizers and a jug of beer for 12 dollars each! The chicken strips were delicious, highly recommended and perfect for snacking on as your brain is frantically coming up with answers! Plus the atmosphere is incredible and many of the staff are authentic Australian which just adds such a charm to the establishment. Will defo return to do more quizzes and drink more beer!

Went for Trivia Night, and it was a lot of fun(even though we didn’t do so well)! The questions are challenging but not impossible. The hosts are enthusiastic and gave away drinks between rounds. The servers were very friendly and attentive. They ask your name to start a tab and address you by name for the rest of your visit(a nice touch!). I ordered the house-made chicken strips but did not like them and only ate one. The server asked if there was something wrong with them, I said I didn’t think so… I just don’t like how they taste.(They were almost sour… the honey mustard dip was YUMMY though). She apologized and removed them from my bill! I was AMAZED… I’ve never had a restaurant remove something from my bill without complaining, and I didn’t even complain! Will definitely be going back!(And will try a different menu item!)

A bit hard to find. It’s a basement entrance in what looks like an office building. No worries this place is huge. Great service and great food. A bit loud but that’s not an issue. I would come back.

Moose’s is a consistently reliable pub. It’s got a friendly, warm atmosphere where you’re not afraid to make some noise. Nothing pretentious about this place. Just great pub fare served up in monstrous portions. Some Aussie menu items add to the character of this place. An Aussie colleague enjoys coming here so I know I’m getting the real thing. I personally enjoy the lemon lime and bitters — a soda with a bit of an edge. As for the food, I’m a big fan of the schnitzel with pasta. But take a pass on the rather generic onion rings and bland salad. Since these are just side dishes, it’s nothing to fret about.

Absolutely felt so comfortable just letting go of all the stress from work in this entertainment venue/restaurant bar. Never thought I’d be down for trivia nights, but this Aussie one knows how to make trivia appealing and fun for anyone. Sometimes, they may add bingo or hand games between rounds. The waiters and waitresses remember your name and are so warm. They can be ready to joke with you whenever. Private venues can be reserved. The shots are delicious. My recommendation is the«Quick F**k». You may get one on the house on your birthday, even when your parents are there. Meat on a Stick(incl. kangaroo meat) is definitely a conversation-starter for first-timers and it will not leave you disappointed.

The Moose Down Under was recommended by our front desk person at my hotel, and I wanted to tell him thank you! AUTHENTICAUSTRALIAN, complete with the vegemite. The staff is all really friendly and the food that I ordered was pretty good(veggie and beef soup & club sandwich). I wish my trip to VanCity was longer so I could enjoy more good eats here!

I love this place! I spent a year travelling through Australia and this place was definitely worthy of Australian food. They don’t have all the beers, but a decent selection, and their Pavlova and chicken parma are amazing

We go here after work with coworkers. Dark and dingy but food is decent and drinks are good. I like the chicken strips and fries. The owner is super nice and service is good. They have happy hour drinks and appies but the appies aren’t very good. They accept credit cards.

Good central location for a quickie of drinks after work, right in CBD as parking’s pretty tough here. As well it’s tough to find too. Once you get over walking down the stairs, it’s a casual cozy pub, well-spaced with good sectioned off areas. Food’s above average, and expect DT pricing.

Everyone here has an accent! Amazing! I think this place participates in some kind of Exchange with Australian students. The food is your standard pub fare(we were there for appy happy hour so I can’t tell you very much about the entrées.) The staff were very friendly and accomodating. I think whoever booked our small party of 30 proboably underestimated how many people would actually be there because we were spilling out of the area they had reserved for us all over the restaurant. The servers would come in, look confused, and then the panic would set in. How were they to find Jayne when she had since moved three different chairs? I directed traffic as best as I could, and eventually the servers, bless them, just started shouting people’s names. I don’t blame them. Hot food, cold drinks, interesting conversation in a low ceilinged 80’s style vancouver hide-away restaurant. I liked it. I will def be back.

After discovering Moose’s Trivia Night a few weeks ago, I went back on March 26th, this time with a group. Our group was quite large, 24 people(I had made a reservation), and despite our group size and how busy the place was(Trivia Night is very popular), the service was great. They were polite, timely with our orders, didn’t neglect us, and the bills were accurate. The food isn’t anything special, but it’s tasty, reasonably priced, and the staff are always friendly. I’m definitely going to make Trivia Night a regular thing. Also, there are wine specials on Wednesdays. Woohoo!

My friend arranged an event tonight via Meetup and invited me to come, as I love trivia. There were about 24 people in our party. The staff was on top of it– my friend made reservations in advance, and they split up our section into four groups of 6(maximum 6 people per trivia team). The server was so pleasant– she regularly checked up on us, even as it became more packed. And she even remembered my name when I came up to the cash register pay!(If you’re in a large group, the staff prefers that you state your first name and first initial of your last name before you order– makes things easier for everyone.) The drink special was wine; I ordered Merlot in favour of Chardonnay, and it was quite pleasant. I decided to take advantage of «Appy Hour»(from 4:00PM — 7:00PM, you can order a 5.95 appetizer with the purchase of any drink, including non-alcoholic beverages). I ordered the beef chili nachos, which were just okay. They were lukewarm, and the cheese had become all rubbery– most of my chips were stuck together. But, hey, it was only 5.95. Trivia was so much fun. It started at about 7:15, due to the Canucks game, and ended at about 9:30. The host was a little stern, but then again, the place was noisy and packed. It’s a mixed bag– the first three rounds were knowledge-based questions, and the last round was«Name That Tune», which just about killed our team. Pro tip: pay during the break before the last round, if you have finished eating and drinking. You won’t have to wait in the long line when trivia is done. Overall, I had a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to return.
