Needed to thread brows badly. Walked in no appt and waited about 15 min. Great décor with modern furnishings. There are 3 chairs for threading area (enclosed) and 4 stylist chairs. There were still men at the back working so I guess the renovations aren’t totally finished, but what I saw looked good. There were only two staff working, one doing a haircut and the other threading, but business was steady. The lady that did my brows was gentle and thorough. I’m sure there will be a lot of business at this new location!

Small/​dinky store front but this place has easy parking and conveniently located. This place is very cheap for their threading service… about $ 7ish (before tip) for eyebrow threading and upper lip. They do a good job in shaping your brows and keeping it natural looking.

Had my first threading experience here and it’s super quick and cheap! Thankfully not painful either. They’re one block down from Breka Bakery.

I have got my eyebrows done here few times and most of the times were done ok… It’s an average place to get ONLY your eyebrow done. Keep in mind that this place does get super busy at times (specially around 3ish).

Feels very dirty inside.
Despite previous reviews, unless you want to look permenantly surprised for a few weeks I would leave the eyebrow threading to the pros at Nuu Salon next door. I tried Mona Lisa only because i saw so many positive reviews and asked for Raj. If you have lighter eyebrows like moi, I would avoid this place.
Seems like they do a very good job on people who have darker eyebrows — also why lots of men are in line for eyebrow threading here.

Every time I get my eyebrows done (for special events), I go to Bombay Brow Bar. But I figured since I don’t have any special events happening, I’d just go to a place where it wouldn’t cost me an arm ($ 26 vs. $ 5.60).
I asked the threader to just clean up my brows as they were getting kind of bleh. But when I finished, I noticed she took off A LOT of my eyebrows. They are too thin for my liking now. And to make it worse, she didn’t even clean my eyebrows well. There were still sparse hairs (she should’ve plucked them…) around my eyes. I don’t think she even threaded the area between my eyebrows (unibrow)… Terrible, terrible, terrible!
I think I will be going back to Bombay Brow Bar from now on.

Let me begin by saying that I was a little reluctant at first. The first time I did my eyebrows, I went to Bombay Brow Bar but it was really expensive. So, I decided to take a risk and try something a little bit cheaper. I was super scared because I’m really picky when it come to my eyebrows.
I’m so glad I found this place! It is amazing! But ask for either Shashi or Raj, they are the best. They are gentle and they always clean up your brows.

Went here for a pedicure… wouldn’t again. Not the most trained staff for pedicure purposes. Also they slightly over buffed my feet to the point where the top of one started bleeding a bit. Ladies were very kind and courteous but this is not how I like a pedicure– in the top floor of a house through a dingy back hallway.

I want to preface this review by saying I didn’t always like this place. I’ve had some pretty rushed service and terrible brow work done here before. I just figured you get what you pay for and vowed to never come back. Everything changed when my eyebrow lady Shashi started working here.
Shashi is the best! She’s been doing my brows for about 6 years now, beginning our relationship at the now defunct Texture Salon in Kerrisdale. She is super gentle on my sensitive skin and always cleans up my brows (threads, plucks strays, then offers aloe). She is a perfectionist and takes her time.
I’m happy to have her closer to my neighbourhood now too!
Pro tip: Shashi has Tues and Wed off, so drop by any other day of the week to get your brows done. Otherwise you will be disappointed.

Been going here for years for my eyebrows. They always thread them to the perfect arch and trim and tweeze any stray they have missed.

Great place for eyebrow threading. She is consistently good and shapes them evenly every time.

I’ve been getting my eyebrows done for about a year here for $ 5. The last few times I’ve got my eyebrows done by a newer girl (who I’ve never seen before) and she can’t do eyebrows for shit.
The 2 older ladies are very good at threading. Very even and clean. The younger girl (the new girl) she made my eyebrows uneven. And ones shorter than the other.
I thought
Okay I’ll go back and try once more. I went and the older ladies were busy so I tried the new girls again and she did it again.
She spent 20mins. Kept checking if they were even and eventually sent me out with 1 perfect eyebrow & 1 half an eyebrow. Not only is one shorter than the other bit ones higher than the other. I tried to explain to her the problem but she doesn’t really speak English. She just nodded and said she can’t thread anymore. It still hasn’t grown back and it’s been over a month :(
This place is really hit and miss. If you can get the older ladies you’ll be fine but DO NOT let the younger girl thread your eyebrows

I have been coming here for years, this is the only place I trust to shape my brows.
Once you have threaded, you will never go back to plucking, waxing or shaving again. It lasts about 4 – 6 weeks if you are conscientious about cleaning up the odd stray hair.
For eyebrows with tax is $ 5.60, if you are hormonal and need to have forehead, upper lip and brows done, it’s $ 11.74. Whole face is $ 16 + tax.
I was introduced to this place by one of the guys at the gym, if a big muscle guy will come here, it’s not a bad place.

I’ve been here twice this month and really like this place. Both times Raj did my eyebrows. She was so gentle and even took the time to comb, trim, and pluck extra hairs, which another place I normally go to does not.
$ 6 (with change) for eyebrow threading is much better than the $ 11 i was paying in Burnaby.
They have 3 seats set up so the wait isn’t very long. I went yesterday and was in and out within 5 – 10 min. Super fast.
Will definitely be back!

When the need to get my girly pampering moment came at the very special request of the girl staring back at me from the mirror, I knew it was time to no longer procrastinate on getting my eyebrows threaded!
But where does a RECENT new Vancouverite go?
Thanks to all the recent reviews by other loyal Unilocalers, I found Mona Lisa Hair Salon. When I went in, I was asked to go to the room and as soon as I entered a very nice lady who was waiting to take on her next client asked me to have a seat in her chair. I told her that I just want a clean up without losing my shape (again — Thanks for this tip Unilocalers!!) and she listened! She was super gentle and you could tell she was being careful with every hair she pulled which is ¹⁰⁰⁄₁₀₀ in my books :-) 10 minutes later I was done and extremely happy with her skills! I asked for name so I can ask for her next time I come back and she said «I am Shashi but I am only here Thurs, Fri and Sat» with a smile on her face!
All in all, this former Torontian has found her new eyebrow place with a person she can go to on her every visit!

Always come here to get my eyebrows threaded! Its always $ 5 before tax and the ladies are always fast and efficient. Don’t have to worry about annoying small talk!

Great place! I’d highly recommend this place. Asha, the owner did an amazing job on my eyebrows. I also got my face done. I’ve gone to many places for threading, so I can tell who’s good and who’s not.

I used to get threading done in Jackson Heights, Queens, which was quite reminiscent of Fraser Street, and at a similar type of establishment. $ 5 for eyebrows. They always did a great job and they were even written up in Vogue. It’s not too often that I can go to the places «written up in Vogue». ha.
So since I was feeling, shall we say, «adventurous» I thought that I’d give this place a chance, given that it sported such a famous Parisian’s name (not exactly why) and I was not too phased that my aesthetician (if I can call her that) did not speak English. I had also read Jody’s review and figured that it must be good. (thx. J). I sure wish that I could have seen all of the 1 star reviews on my iphone. Talk about a Unilocal fail!
Now, almost two weeks later, my second eyebrow is finally starting to grow back comletely mismatched to the other one after I was butchered by my threader. Interestingly enough, while I was getting my service done, two «metrosexual» males (does anyone use this term anymore?) were also getting theirs done. They both complained and screamed their heads off so much that it made my service even worse. And I have to say that it hurt more here than any other place that I’ve threaded in N.America.
Owner was nice and apologetic, but I’m sorry you get what you pay for. She told me in fact that the girl could not understand me and had no idea what I’d wanted! I ended up getting my services for next to nothing, but I’ll never be back. I was going to say that at least I won’t need threading for awhile, but they look pretty mismatched so I’ll have to go somewhere else, anyway. grr.

I don’t really understand why people still wax their eyebrows when places like this exist.
I was a waxer. I admit it. And dutifully paid my $ 15 – 20 every time to get my brows shaped. In fact, I would have happily continued on with the tradition if someone hadn’t told me it could stretch my eyelids out and make them poofy. Urban legend or not, it scared me in a new direction.
Found Mona Lisa through Unilocal.It’s one of those places i’d only have found via Unilocal or word of mouth because it looks like any ol’ discount hair salon from the outside. After the first appointment — hooked. Waxing be gone!
Even after moving out of the hood, I still trek here for eyebrow love. $ 5.60. In and out in ten minutes. Bing, bang, boom — happy camper.
But I do second (third and fourth) the other Unilocalers in cautioning — ask for «natural» brows — not too thin. If you don’t, you can be left with some seriously tiny eyebrows.
