Had their sandwich and soup combo. Good food at reasonable price. Staff seems friendly.

Worst service of almost any café I have ever been to. The wait staff(more than one) don’t even make eye contact with you and a lot of the time flat-out ignore you! Their baked goods taste like any standard grocery store brand and the coffee is seriously lack lustre.

The first time I came here I was impressed but ever since, I have visited more than three more times and they have always disappointed. I ordered a london fog and received a green tea latte twice. Staff believe a london fog is a green tea latte and I have to specify it is an early grey latte with vanilla. I got one of their cupcakes not realizing they are refrigerated and hard as a rock, wonder how long they are kept for. I have witnessed staff forgetting orders for other customers. I want to like this place as it is convenient but average for now.

The staff here are extremely friendly and courteous, and the prices are very reasonable for fresh baked goods. It’s all a thousand times better than any Starbucks selection for only a portion of the price. They have delicious $ 1.95 cookies that are big enough for two, and a great and ever-changing selection of pastries, bread loaves, cakes and sandwiches. I have yet to try it all but I’m sure I’ll get around to it eventually ;) Also! Can’t afford fresh baked goods? Just walk by and filter feed– it smells THAT good!

I really truly want to like this place, and have given it 3 solid chances. Each and every time I have been disappointed. Pros: –They have bread –It smells good inside –atmosphere is nice Cons: –Staff know nothing of what they sell. I asked if there was egg in the bread, and got a no, went home, and my guest had violent diarrhea… because guess what, it had egg. –Staff are very slow and incredibly incompetent… and to be honest, that would be ok, if they were just nice… but they aren’t even that. –The bread is very average, better than Safeway, but thats about it, not close to other bakeries(Terra, cobs or local non-chain ones) –The sandwiches are below average(except the tuna is ok) –Coffee is below average too. So, not sure where these good reviews are coming from… every time i’ve been disappointed, ive gone back thinking they must have had an off day… but alas, you only get so many chances. so this review is for lovers of bakeries… save your time and effort, skip this one.

I got the roast beef sandwich and it was incredible. The music playing while I happily devoured my perfectly prepared sandwich and subtle soup was quiet and appropriate. The atmosphere was warm and homey and the service was really sweet. They got the food out to all four of us quickly and happily. My gluten free friend was well treated, the gluten free bread was amazing, even for us gluten eaters, and we had an excellent lunch surrounded by other content people. Come here, we loved it. Thank you so much!

Love this place. Been coming here since I was in high school. Their sandwiches are fresh and made right in the back. My favourite is the chipotle chicken! I also love that soup and sandwich combo they have. They also prove pastries, cold dishes, and desserts. Careful of that 12−1pm weekday horde of high school kids though.

I am a big fan of Mix. The breads and baked goods are very, very good. The atmosphere is nice, they always have good artwork by local artists on the wall, and I find the staff pleasant too. It is a bakery first and foremost though, I don’t go there for the coffee, and although other people seem disappointed by the sandwiches, I had a chicken(kinda mexican style) the other day and it was lovely.

This place has the best Tuna sandwiches!!! During my pregnancy I am having weir cravings and one day I really wanted tuna sandwich… so my hubby went and got me from there… it was AMAZING! to the extent that I am not buying my tuna sandwiches from anywhere else! Also they have a sandwich and soup combo special, which is pretty amazing because their soups ara awesome too! But they are on the pricier side and not much sitting area. so one star off for that.

Mix Bakery has been a staple in Point Grey for many years; however almost seems to be going downhill. Recently, Mix changed up their sandwich selection — yet removed the two most commonly requested sandwiches(server confirmed this). No substantial vegetarian options for lunch anymore and I also noticed that their espresso drinks weren’t any where as good as they used to be. The chicken sandwich was okay, but quite oily and left me feeling a tad gross. Baked goods and cakes are delicious! Hope they can pull up their socks, otherwise there are more than enough other fine places for brunch in the city.

Only been to this bakery twice now. It’s a busy little place, nice atmosphere, good service, etc. The pastries and cakes are amazing — so very tasty. However, the sandwiches, though pricey, are not great! They sound tasty enough, but really, I wouldn’t bother. In fact, the third time we needed a bite in that area, we went to the Safeway up the street and got a couple of very good grilled sarnies for a fraction of the cost!

I stumbled upon this little café/bakery while strolling the streets of Point Grey on the weekend. Ideal location … it smelt tasty… so in I went! Well, on a second thought, I kind of wish I went to the place next door instead. It lacks any sense of coziness: tall wired racks, food displayed poorly in the show-case, the lady working lacked any real compassion to serve the customers and just seemed to be going through the motions. The Americano tasted liked slightly coloured water… not enough caffeine or taste to give you that kick-start jolt I was hoping for. On a plus side: the GLUTENFREECOOKIE was DELICIOUS! If you go here, I suppose you should go for the homemade soups or baked bread… grab your coffee next door!

With their poor service Mix the bakery really doesn’t deserve a 3+ star rating. What’s wrong with you Unilocal? You have filtered all the poor reviews(including mine) for this place. The food is not bad but like some other places in Point Grey village the people here are highly incompetent and not super friendly.

Bumped into their table at the Croatian Culture Center Holiday Market and loved their Jams. Their apple jam is like apple pie. Think of a PB apple Pie sandwhich = awesomeness. The lady at the booth was really nice and had a nice interesting way of attracting people to her booth.

Their breads, sandwiches and soups are great. I personally love the Spanish bocadillo(a form of omelet with paprika, potatoes and other goodness) as well as their butternut squash soup when it’s made — the combination of the two make for a great fall lunch. Their savory galette(made with mushrooms, a few greens, cheese and ham) is also a lovely dish with flaky pastry and is, in my opinion, a good deal better than their tourtière or strata. Dessert-wise, their ambrosia cookies(made with white chocolate, nuts and dried fruit) are to die for and I quite like their fruit tarts and chocolate oblivion cake. I am torn on what to give this restaurant because their food products are all good but the service can be downright terrible. I’ve had two servers who somehow screwed up my order in more than one way. First, they took forever to get me a bowl of soup and to heat up my tourtière. Second, the soup they served me was the wrong type and I made that known, which the person made a sour face and took it back for. And then the dishes were served and the server’s cohort tried to make amends by giving me some cookies which was a nice gesture. I’m still amazed though because the bakery wasn’t even packed and they had nothing to do! It wasn’t as if I had somehow asked them to make gluten-free sandwiches or some kind of iron-chef worthy innovation involving spam musubi, coconut milk and cheerios! … Oh well. Three stars — if you take out food you will have a ball, but if you eat in you can be in for a headache.

Can’t say too much about their baked goods. I did order their sandwich of the day — ham, lettuce, tomatos and some swiss cheese — pretty standard if not boring. No condiments and the bread was hard as a rock even though it was grilled. For $ 8 I feel like there’s gotta be better options. Oh wait, it IS Point Grey… I guess not a whole lot of choice there!

Very tasty crème brûlée, that’s my weakness. Nice n eggy smooth, and can’t beat the sugary crunchy top. Probably not Joe Fortes quality, but for a café, it hits the sweet spot. Well, more of a bakery than café. Client had some leftover white chocolate hazelnut crème cake, also delicious. One great thing about this place is you know to come here on a cold day like today – it’s boiling hot in here, either they’re still baking at this odd hour 3:45pm or they’re crank up the heat, Sucks they don’t have wifi.

This place is great for lunch! It’s perfect for a quick off-campus lunch(if you’re from UBC). Such tasty innovative sandwiches. We had the chimayo chicken sandwich grilled to perfection(not to hard, not to soft) and it was delicious! I don’t remember what all was in it but it was very flavourful and tasty. I remember it had, chicken, avocado, cilantro mayo, and it was spicy too… We also had a herb chicken salad as well. That was okay. The dressing was really delicious, but the greens were just green leaf or iceberg lettuces. I expected some mesclun baby greens thrown in there too. But over all it was delicious. They have a variety of bread loaves that I am inclined to purchase one of these days. As well as some delicious looking desserts(A SUNFLOWERCUPCAKE!!!). They sell jams and preserves and give samples of them. Very yummy. They also sell dog treats! I picked some up for the boss’s dog to get on her good side(the dog’s not the boss :-P). Totally recommend a visit here, esp. if you’re in the neighbourhood for a good lunch! My only frown for them is that they don’t have wifi. :(

My good friends mum introduced me to this place years ago and I have been a fan ever since. Their hip, urban, approach to artisan bread and goodies is why I am a fan. These guys also cater to a ton of local shops and grocers like IGA, so don’t fear if you cant make it up to Point Grey then you may be able to find them in your neighbourhood. 5 stars — the artisan bread crisps. These little morsels of heaven blow Raincoast crisps out of the water. grab yourself a bag. or two b/c they go fast and head over to the cheese shop and pick yourself up some Boursin and your off to the races. Zoey’s super grain I swear has every possible grain in there, and is jam packed full of grainy goodness. *+*+*thanx Rhoda!!!
