Highly recommended, this feels like a Yaletown resto considering its area, esp. the dishware, you’ll be impressed. Food is def not your typical phở places; its menu has the best of north, central and southern vietnam as stated… Was recommended the vermicelli in a soup broth, w/some nice tangy dill, celery, and nicely done steamed tofu and fish paste – quite fresh, moist and chewy. Even the salad roll had a unique taste but good to it; just really fresh shrimp and nicely wrapped. Could tell it wasn’t pre-made… the iced viet coffee, as you know, it’s my measuring stick; consider it right up there esp. w/the cute little clear scooper, to put your ice in. One slight peeve was it dripped a heckuva lot slower than other, ie. thuan an… so order this as you sit down. Also ordered their shredded chicken sandwich sub, very tasty w/its house sauce. almost tasted like a pulled pork! But the best dessert, crème brûlée-like, was its Flan Caramel: super soft as the fork just glides into it, really taste the egg, and its homemade caramel sauce – out of this world. I will order 5 of these next time!!!

* Slightly upscale Vietnamese hole in the wall * In the surrounding 2 or 3 km there must be the highest concentration of Vietnamese businesses in the entire Vancouver area, so competition is tough in the area. This little spot slightly scales up the typical Vietnamese hole in the wall offerings, and does so with friendly service. — The restaurant felt a bit cleaner than the typical neighbourhood competition. — The menu was more focused with a more limited selection(a good thing in my mind) — The food came presented with a bit more care than at the typical neighbourhood competition. — Oh, and the washroom was clean! I started off with the cha gio(imperial roll), which came nicely plated with the middle two slices positioned vertically — a nice touch. They were fried perfectly without being greasy at all. The filling was more substantial and a bit softer than at many other places. The flavouring was good, and the dipping sauce had a bit more spice kick than at some other competitors. A nice rendition. Photo: My main was the com ga(lemongrass chicken with rice). This came plated with the rice having a nice inverted bowl shape, and 3 pieces of chicken placed in a flower design with green onion garnishing the centre. The rice was well prepared. The chicken was very tender, almost a stewed consistency while retaining its structural integrity. The sauce had strong fresh lemongrass flavours. My only«complaint» is that the sauce was just a tad too heavy on the salt — but not to the point of making things unpleasant. Photo: Service was very friendly, and very concerned about customer satisfaction. Overall a nice little spot that is a cut above many of the others in the area.
