With the combination of different kinds of pickled ingredients and flavorful sauces, this is an popular lunch spot. I like the spicy chicken or pork bowl with brown rice, with extra spicy sauce. At noon to 12:30 it can be very busy, but they seem to keep people moving really well. If you can make it in a bit eariler than noon your wait would no time.

I love this place. The people who run it are great. You cannot find a better value and better food almost anywhere in vancouver. I love the spicy chicken kobob burger and the bibimbap. The homemade kim chi is the bomb.

Pork Bulgogi Burger is my usual order at Kobob. Although their rice burger looks like a burger, it doesn’t really hold up together well enough for me to eat it like a regular burger. I normally get it to go and eat with a fork. I haven’t actually tried much of their other items, because I can’t seem to get away from ordering anything but the Pork Bulgogi! Plus, it’s great to get some variety for lunch options aside from the usual burgers and sandwiches in Olympic village and Chinese food or ramen in Chinatown.

This place is so, so, SO close to being a home run but unfortunately there are just a few things that prevent it from perfection. First, the interior. While there is a rather cute and quirky wall on one side, the rest of the store is fairly nondescript. With poor lighting and a clunky seating arrangement you’re going to be tempted to get your food to-go. I arrived at Kobob around 3PM and it was completely empty(even of employees). I actually had to double check the hours to see if it was open before hesitantly stepping inside. An employee eventually emerged from the kitchen but it made my entrance a bit unpleasant. I knew before I came what I’d be getting so I didn’t stress much, but for someone with no clue I suspect Kobob could be a bit confusing. Their menu is written a bit haphazardly but it’s actually quite simple. They only have four items: bibimbob, rice burgers, korean pancakes, and ramyeon. I wound up getting the bulgogi rice burger with cheese and egg as well as an avocado bibimbob. For $ 14 these two items wound up being my lunch AND dinner. The food came out in a very short amount of time which was expected considering the lack of clientele. I decided to eat the burger first and save the bibimbob for later. I can easily see how for a clumsy person this burger could wind up falling apart, but I managed to keep mine together the entire time. The key is taking your time and making sure that the burger stays contained in its wrapper. That marinated meat still makes it pretty messy though, and I wound up getting sauce all over my mouth and nose. Not that I cared, it was so damn good. The meat was packed full of flavor. The rice was perfectly cooked. The pickled radish was a pleasant surprise. I’m not sure if I’d add egg and cheese again though. The two items got lost in the meat and didn’t wind up adding anything to the dish. About five hours later I dug into the brown rice bibimbob. Considering how tasty this thing was cold I’m positive it would’ve been utterly fantastic fresh. I think my only critique would be that the ratio was all over the place. The veggies far outweighed the rice and of those vegetables it was mostly just bean sprouts, spinach, and carrots. I was definitely missing the zucchini and the mushrooms. It felt very healthy and would make for a good light lunch, add more toppings if need be. Of the two dishes I definitely preferred the rice burger, it was incredibly filling and extremely satisfying. I highly recommend it, BUT only if you aren’t planning on looking pretty.

This place is so cute! There’s Polaroids on the wall and the owners are super nice. we ordered the rice burger and kimchi pancake. Disappointingly the pancake wasn’t crispy, which is what I usually look for. The burger was really good albeit difficult to eat and even more difficult to share, ended up mostly being a Bulgogi rice bowl which I’m totally ok with too. Overall not that special but it’s definitely worth trying and it’s a close walk from main st skytrain

Love this place and love that it’s run by a dedicated couple. I’ve been coming here for almost a year and think it’s amazing food for a phenomenal price. Just go!

Kobob Burger is standard to which all Vancouver lunch spots should be held. I have probably ordered the Bibimbop over 50 times and I’m always impressed. Fresh ingredients, excellent value and friendly owners combine for a winning combination.

I had the spicy chicken burger with egg and beef burger, both are great. !!! actually i was told by my vegiterian friend that tuna kimchi burger is also good too. I think it could be good to take it out and go for a picnic at Science world park. so close. :D

Interesting food concept. Rice burger with bulgogi meat. The place is small and more suited as a takeout place. I’m not convinced if the rice should be the«bun» since it’s quite messy. The food is good but the rice does fall apart easily even though I asked if there’s a way to enjoy the burger. Luckily I ordered takeout and got a fork to salvage my rice burger. It’s a good Korean place if you want to try something different.

Very small place with clean interior. Take away only no public washrooms. I love the concept cause it’s healthy. You can either have it in a bowl or burger. Mostly vegetarian. Here is where this fails me is at the price point. A bowl is mostly rice some veggies and a single egg for $ 8! Basically you’re paying $ 8 for a single egg and everything is cheap filler and not enough of. Sauce brings it together but not enough for a repeat visit. Even with the real estate the price mark is way off. Customer service when I went in was very cold.

Fantastic bulgogi burgers! Think of them more like bibimbaps shaped into burger formation, so that with each bite, you have just the right proportion of saucy meat, vegetables and rice! For $ 6 – 8 for quite a filling portion, with a selection of meat options to choose from(beef, pork, spicy pork/chicken, soy sauce chicken, etc), I highly recommend this joint if you’re looking for a quick, flavourful and balanced meal. The only catch is that there’s barely any space for dining in(it doesn’t get too busy here, however), and they close quite early, so come here for lunch.

Food was bland, spicy sauce was gross. Got the veggie rice bowl, veggies are cold and egg is a little runny. Not as much food as i expected for the price. Doesn’t come with any sauce, you have to add yourself. Friendly staff, decent spot to sit but only seats 6 and would not feel comfortable with more than 4, very small place. Was happy to find vegetarian gluten free food and was close to hostel we were staying in.

This place is awesome. What can go wrong when you have some deliciously marinaded pork, some fresh chunks of avocado and sunny side up egg on a king size bed of rice with sprinkles of nori? Even judging as a Korean guy who cooks Korean food on daily basis, these guys are doing plenty justice to our cherished dish, Bi-bim-bop, with super fresh ingredients and minimal presentation. No harsh flavors are found here. Fantastic value for good amount of food as well.

Mmmm I love rice and I love korean food. This is a very simple joint that serves a rice bowl or a rice … burger. Okay okay maybe calling it a burger isn’t really correct since there’s no bread. Instead of the bread you have rice that sandwiches the meat. I’ve tried the spicy pork and the tuna kimchi burgers here and enjoyed both, although the tuna one isn’t what I thought it would be. I was expecting like a tuna steak but it was more like flakes of tuna, canned? The restaurant itself is very small and cute, but very very warm in there. Only 1 table for 2 and some bar stool seating so clearly a restaurant with takeout in mind. This location is also great for those wanting a quick bite before boarding at Central Station

I still eat here regularly and their food is still top notch. It’s so tasty and filling and well made. I don’t know what the relationship is between the people who run it, they might be siblings, they might be married or boyfriend and girlfriend, but at some point the dude started to run the till and the gal started to do all the cooking which is the opposite of what it was when I started going there, and the food comes out super quick now. It’s shocking how quickly they can make your lunch and it’s still cheap and filling and really, really delicious. Kobob is one of my favourite places for a good, affordable, quick lunch. Do yourself a favour…

This place is so cute, and the food is pretty yummy, but is that rice«bun» really necessary? It falls apart really easily, and I know they were probably just looking for something to set them apart, but I feel like it would be easier to eat if it were just in a bowl and you had a spoon. Still, the food is pretty good and I’ve come to this area just to come back to Kobob. The spicy chicken and bulgogi are great, and the rameun is pretty solid!

Simple, well executed, and fairly priced. I’m a fan. If you had to describe Kobob Burger, I’d say it’s like a Korean subway. See current menu pic for why. The Kobob Burger menu has few items on it and so there’s focus on getting a few things very right. Of all the burger bases, my favourite is the spicy pork for the great complement to go with the rice. Of the pancakes, I like the kimchi pancake. For a simple and filling meal(albeit not super healthy), one can do takeout for the kimchi pancake and pair with some rice at home. Word of caution: hold that rice burger tight or it might fall apart on you: P

I had to change the oil in my car yesterday and I usually go to the Midas on Main and E 1st Ave. I hate going there cuz they are obligated to up sell you constantly! Its irritating dealing with people who’s job it is to rip you off! I guess the only reason I go back is I’m too lazy to change my own car oil! Anyways since I’m in the area I decided to grab a quick bite at Kobob Burger. Conveniently located off the Georgia Viaduct Kobob Burger is a tiny Korean fast food restaurant. The first thing I liked about this place is there is ample free street parking. In big city Vancouver that’s a rarity. I got there about 1 pm and they place was empty. I told the Korean fella this is my first time here. I asked him what he recommends. He said the spicy pork burger is their most popular dish. Instead of using the standard North American hamburger bun Kobob uses sesame seed rice to wrap around the spicy pork filling. It’s a great idea, and pretty unique. Service was quick. I got my burger freshly made in front of me in 1 minute! Hmmm… My only complaint is that the ‘burger’ has a bit too much rice and a touch too light on the meat. The cost of the meal was a bit over $ 7(burger and canned drink). Pretty reasonable. I would rather they charge more and provide more meat. Overall the burger was pretty good. Not too spicy but a bit messy to eat. The woman working there said I should eat it like a burrito. I was pretty full of carbs when I finished. I would come back. They have tons of other dishes I would love to try! One day soon I’ll be back!

This place offers great food at a great price. Their rice burgers are fantastic — $ 6.50 for a delicious and very filling portion. The spicy chicken is great — not too spicy and with a nice mix of veggies and pineapple. My coworkers are obsessed with the shrimp pancake. This place closed briefly to consider moving location, but decided to stay in the area and slightly raise the prices — the food is still way better value than most take out options in Vancouver. Staff are also friendly and efficient. I hope they stick around and maybe even expand.
