For the price and reviews, I expected a better experience. The food was decent, but nothing that was particularly stand-out compared to much of what Vancouver has to offer. Receiving a hidden lemon seed in my meal, which I discovered when I bit down on it, doesn’t help my feelings here. Service was cold and unenthusiastic, and honestly missing most of the time. I can’t imagine we would return any time soon.

I’d like to preface this 2 star review with this disclaimer: I took my gf(now wife) here for her bday 3 – 4 years ago. And since then, KDK had held the title of the most memorable and delicious MEAL we have ever had. For $ 65 we had the 6 course tasting menu that left both my gf and I not only full, but also with a benchmark for what a 5 star( Unilocal or not) meal should be(I even wrote an email to the chef/owner to express my impression). While KDK still holds the title for one of the best meals we have ever had, its position as one of the best restaurants in our mind was tarnished a few months ago when we went back there for our one-year wedding anniversary. For our one year wedding anniversary, it was only fitting that we make resos for KDK. Sadly, we left feeling the worst feeling that any restaurant patron can have when leaving an establishment like this: «We did not get our money’s worth». We were surprised to see that the same 6 course tasting we had ordered a few years back had increased in price by a whopping $ 20 to $ 85 per person. So hesitantly, my wife and I(basing our decision on the immaculate meal we had years before) decided to splurge on the tasting menu. I would like to first say that the service was personable and friendly(as it was our anniversary, they brought us a comp champagne to begin the night… a thoughtful gesture that started us off right). It took too long for our first course, but we figured perfection takes time. The reason for the 2 stars: While each of our dishes were«good», we were very dismayed with the portion sizes. TASTING menu or not, I do not think it is acceptable to leave hungry after paying $ 85 per person. Most dishes lacked that extra component to make it complete. Maybe we just got lucky the first time and the stars aligned with the chef being generous with the portion sizes and on-point with the flavours, all I know is that the meal we had paled in comparison to the value we received on our first visit. I wish KDK the best.

Bland… My boyfriend and I ordered the chef’s menu on a Sunday night. We both have been wanting to eat here for the last 2 years and finally made it here. We ordered the chefs special which came with 6 coarses. We tried ordering sparkling water as well but they were out(what kind of fine dining restaurant does not have sparkling water?), so we just had regular water with lemons instead. We had two servers. One was incredibly awesome and the other had a sour aura about her. This waiter did not make us feel happy to be where we were. Additionally, my boyfriend had to ask for more water two times. Other fine dining restaurants we have been to, our glasses never emptied! I had to ask for more lemon as well, and felt like I was being bothersome to the waiter(what?)? The whole dinner took a little over 2 hours long. We waited 15 – 20 minutes between entrees which I felt was ridiculous. The first course was two slices of tuna sashimi on top of a slice of a green tomato. It was really tasteless. The second dish consisted of a buttery corn saucs with two slices of sausage and two prawns on top. This dish was one of the better ones. The prawns by themselves didn’t have much flavour, but tasted good when mixed with the butter corn. The corn tasted nice just because of the butter; however, I would have much preferred any other type of vegetable purée over corn. The third course was 3 slices of seared salmon sashimi on top of «pickled lentils.» Again, tasteless. I could not taste the pickle flavour or even any flavour in the lentils. The salmon was warm. I wasn’t a fan of the warm raw salmon flavour. The forth dish was my favourite. It was a sliced cow bone with 1 quail egg and a side of white beans. They served the the dish with a tiny spoon we could dig the marrow out. The marrow was phenomenal, so rich in flavour. The beans were nothing special. The fifth dish was the most disappointing. It was consisted of veal cheek served with chanterelle mushrooms, and cranberry sauce on top. The veal cheek looked so amazing; however, when I took my first bite from it, I wanted to cry(where did all the flavour go?). It was tender and juicy, but had all its flavour missing. The cranberry sauce I thought was too sweet and overpowering. We were supposed to be enjoying the meat, not the sweet cranberry sauce. The 2 cheterelle mushrooms were the best part of the dish. The sixth dish was a desert. It was simply a custard with fruit. The custard was fluffy and not too sweet. I enjoyed the grapes. They were so sweet ^-^! Overall, I would not eat here again. The concept of a daily kitchen is breathtaking. The ingredients are fresh and delicious; however, they needed a little pow pow to make them phenomenal and worth their price. No love was put into any of the dishes, except maybe the bone marrrow. Service: 2⁄5(given no attention, waited too long between meals, and ½ servers were friendly) Food: 2⁄5 fresh ingredients but little flavour Ambiance: 2⁄5(it was nice until they closed the front, and then we were sitting next to a garage door. Additionally, fruit flies were flying in our waters. I heard another table ask for a new entrée for the same reason) Value: 2⁄5(This is no fine dining restaurant why are they charging these prices?)

Dear Chef Brian Fowke, your snarky and defensive response to my review two years ago successfully discouraged me to return to your restaurant for quite a long time. However, after some persuasion from a few curious friends, I was peer-pressured into visiting KDK again. They had to physically drag me into your restaurant when we arrived, literally. Dishes we had: Appy — Steamed Salt Spring Island Mussels(with chirizo) Appy — Local Albacore Tuna Poke Entrée — Wild West Coast Seafood Risotto Entrée — Rear Seared Yarrow Meadows Duckling Breast Entrée — Broiled Hall’s Harbour Lobster Spaghetti with double smoked bacon Dessert — Crêpe and something else Let me tip my hat off to you for the amazing mussel appetizer. My party and I had never seen mussels that fresh, flavorful and plump before. It was definitely the highlight. Tuna Poke unfortunately paled in comparison — we may have been biased because we really loved the mussels. The risotto was filled to the brim with fresh seafood. My friends who had that dish liked it. The duck dish was brilliant. I had a bite of it and it was cooked to perfection. Perfectly seared, tender, melt in your mouth duck breast. Amazing. But my dish, the lobster spaghetti, exceeded my expectations and was my fave entrée. I believe I may have a full lobster in the dish — I saw a lobster tail, claws and some other pieces. Spaghetti was al dente. Tomato sauce was very complimentary. I wish I could have eaten that dish forever. This dish was on par if not better than the mussel appy. I would pay the full $ 36 for the dish if I see it on the menu again. Desserts were nothing to write home about so minus one star. We didn’t want to finish the desserts. The service was attentive, fun, and light-hearted — great service. Very nice! It was a bit concerning though that there were only 3 occupied tables in the span of 2.5 hours when I visited KDK. I hope things improve soon. Quality and taste has definitely improved.

I wanted to like this restaurant — the gushing Unilocal reviews and also the concept of a restaurant that is a «daily kitchen» serving only the freshest local ingredients clearly engendered(perhaps impossibly) high hopes. Which is probably why I was so disappointed. After the first few bites, the four of us in my party had very little to say about the food. There was a fish, some other seafood, maybe some bok choy? Overall, it was unexceptional and unmemorable. In fact, we agreed that the food was pretty bland. Not bad, but… were we missing something? Have we been eating«pretentious» food so long that we no longer appreciate the simple, natural deliciousness that so many others are rhapsodising about? Perhaps we(all four of us?) ordered the wrong dishes. Anyway there was a consensus among our group that all our food was underwhelming. Also of note is the Unilocal offer for a free flute of champagne, which, as our server informed us, had expired… :-/(no stars off for this, but mentionable nonetheless since it compounded the disappointment of the entire dining experience). Although we left feeling unsatisfied, the experience wasn’t all bad: the ambiance is casual and comfy and the service was pretty good. I can’t say our server was super friendly or welcoming, but after our meal, he was nice enough to call us a cab, which delivered us back to Kerrisdale where I ate a second dinner of real unpretentious food at my favourite neighbourhood haunt: Bean Brothers Café! Would try again, with subdued expectations, perhaps with someone who knows better what to order.

Based on the stellar reviews I saw before I had dinner at Kitsilano Daily Kitchen I expected a lot more from my experience. Before I begin, let me just say that my 3 star review says nothing about the service at this establishment. Our server was awesome. He made great suggestions, inserted himself into our conversations(not in an annoying way), brought out a surprise treat for my friend’s birthday when he overheard it was her birthday dinner, and found another server to assist us in finding an after dinner drink spot. So, that was not the issue. The issue was the food itself and the overall ambiance. None of the food was awful in any way, just not as great as expected: I split the salmon poke which was alright, but seemed a bit on the salty side. I probably wouldn’t order it again. I also had the poached salmon which came with squash and potatoes. The squash ratatouille was actually quite good. But, the salmon was only cooked to a level of so-so and the potatoes weren’t very flavorful. I stole a bite of my friend’s red pepper and crayfish soup which was actually quite good, but a bit on the rich side. I think a huge bowl like that would need to be shared. For something so rich I might have served it in a smaller portion. I was told the duck dish was quite good, but that the bison was a workout for the jaw. It was quite rare and incredibly chewy. In terms of décor, I like a place with a bit more cozy feel. Kitsilano Daily Kitchen is definitely very elegant if that’s what you’re looking for. The booths were very comfortable. But, white tablecloths(or any tablecloths), already set out cutlery and wine glasses, and dim lighting just aren’t my cup of tea.

Nice place and helpful in accommodating our large group. We had a party of about 20 people and had to split up into two groups but that was totally fine. I liked how one of the big tables was done into a large square so it’s easy for people to still talk across the table(that table seated about 12?). The menu sounded great and like others have mentioned, some items stay the same but a large portion are changed daily. The restaurant was pretty busy with every table taken so I was a bit surprised they only had 2 people working the front of house, seating people, taking orders, serving and bartending, we felt bad for them! Service did take slightly longer, but it was still really good, he explained the menu well and had good wine suggestions. They provided fresh baked bread and it was really good! Food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals. I won’t describe them too much as the menu changes often so you probably wouldn’t be ordering from the same selection anyway. Dessert for me at least(I am a huge dessert person!) was just okay. I can’t remember what exactly I ordered but it sounded better than it was. It kinda seemed like stewed fruits? Oh, I think it was called Sauvignon like the wine? My husband liked it though but he doesn’t have a big sweet tooth. One weird thing is we found when we got up to leave at the end of the night the napkins shed a lot of white fluff all over our pants! haha, kinda weird and not a big deal but maybe they should get some new napkins! I would definitely be back to see what else they offer in terms of food!

Came here for mother s day brunch yesterday — excellent service! It made up for their apparently out of date online menu Complimentary sourdough bread came with olive oil balsamic vinegar staple, sea salt, and strawberry jam which was a good start We ordered: Duck butter on croustini(this wasn’t on their menu since I had looked up the dish from their website) but they made an exception. note: it did cost slightly more than what the online menu listed but I can understand that I thought it was pretty good — the duck butter didnt have as much duck flavor as I’d have expected but definitely a decent appy and not something too common bacon and poached eggs with avocado and salsa — eggs were well poached not rubbery at all; my mom thought they were a bit sour but I didn’t taste too much of that. Pretty simple dish but well made and looked nice! Lamb dish(can’t remember the name of it) — lamb was cooked very well and was yummy. Sides were good too Duck and shrimp risotto with Parmigiano reggiano and herbs(I think that’s the cheese) — we all loved the duck on this but thought the risotto was a bit too herby for our asian palate All in all it was a nice meal with great service and décor/atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed(as you can probably tell by now) abt the online menu being either outdated or whatever the case was since there were quite a few things I wanted to try(eg. oxtail gravy poutine); maybe I read the word daily menu wrong and shouldn’t have taken it literally since it s also part of their name so could be my bad too. Tip: book ahead for better seating since its fairly small and when we went in it would’ve been full had we not made reservations; could’ve been mothers day brunch crowd but would play it safe if possible

Love the spacious area. Great service — server was very attentive and friendly. Wonderful food. Nice wine list per glass. I like how the menu changes daily. You can find out their menu each day at 4pm on their website. Crab cake salad was delicious, full flavor, good portion. I ordered the trout as main which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. However it is on the smaller side($ 28). I should of ordered the lobster! For $ 8 u get a full lobster with pasta! Doh!!! Dessert was only a so so. Still delicious but not a wow. They were serving a chocolate cake and apple pie today. If the apple pie was warm and came with ice cream would of made it better!

This is our first time back in 2 years… and it was too long. This may have been the perfect meal. We went with the Chef’s choice and would recommend it without hesitation. First the waiter was very nice and started us with a glass of champagne(complimentary). If you want to impress my wife offer champagne, if you want to impress me, make it free. Win/Win! Started with moonfish(awesome), then onto cauliflower soup with prawns and truffles(awesome). The waiter recommends some wine. Mine’s an easy choice, my wife, not so much. He brings samples of 3 and she chooses. She’s picky… well except when she gets married. Then onto lobster scampi(my favourite), deep fried catfish with green beans(awesome), a duck and mushroom risotto main(awesome) and then a rich chocolate cake(awesome). The waiter and chef were so good(and in sync), I had mentioned how great the truffle in the soup was(and it was frickin’ awesome), the chef included it in the risotto. I noticed at tables nearby, they didn’t get the same truffle treat. That my friends, is the definition of awesome. I feel so pretty. I’ve got zero complaints at all. Great service, fantastic food, good crowd, reasonable(somewhat) cost for food. It may have been the perfect meal. If I HAVE to complain about something(and really what’s the point of Unilocal if not to complain about something), it would be the chocolate cake wasn’t as inspired as the rest of the meal. It was still very good and very filling, but it was just your standard awesome chocolate cake. Everything else was thinking outside of the box, and the chocolate cake could’ve come from one(a very very good one).

Awesome spot. Love, love the idea of the culinary adventure — 6 courses of whatever the chef feels like serving you. It takes all the hardship out of going to a restaurant — you don’t have to make any decisions, and you know what you’re going to get is good if the chef is good. That’s how our experience with the culinary adventure worked out last night at Kitsilano Daily Kitchen. Our server, Christian, was fantastic, and did a great job selling us on some fantastic red wine. Loved the vibe of the place, and all of the courses were fun, good concepts with nice flavors. My one nit with the meal was that the sauces/broths on the dishes seemed lukewarm or even cool. I don’t know if it’s because they sat while the rest of the dish was being constructed or they were just on the cooler side. I would have preferred them hotter, but not a major thing. Would come back any time to go through another adventure with them!

First I’ll start by saying DOTHECULINARYADVENTURE!!! So my wife and I went into the this restaurant to enjoy a nice little night out with dinner. And oh my gosh it was so good. I can say that this was one of the best meals I’ve had in a very very long time. Dinner started out with a potato focaccia bread which was warm and soft. By itself the bread would have been delicious. But it also came with butter, a blue cheese spread, and olives. The blue cheese was some of the best I’ve ever had. Delicious. The tasting started with a piece of seared tuna. The tuna was perfected seared with a little bit of salt on the top. On the side came a charcoal aioli, which was so tasty. We used some of the bread to soak up the remainder of the aioli that we didn’t eat with the tuna. There as a bit of fruit and fennel that was placed on the side of the dish. Next up was the scallop. Again perfectly cooked. The scallop was tender and had a slight sweetness that comes when it is well cooked. The scallop was sitting on top of another aioli sauce. And there was a dash of balsamic reduction on top. Again it was delicious. On the side of this plate was beet. After the scallop came the crab claw. This dish was a simple cooked crab claw, still in the shell. The claw was sitting in another aioli(apparently it was aioli night, but we weren’t complaining). There was a small wedge of lemon and a sprig of parsley on the side. So the chef gave us a little bonus of cauliflower soup that night, since we had to move tables. Not a big deal, since we were enjoying the food. I’ve never had califlower soup before, but I gotta say I’m now a fan. The soup had a bit of lobster mixed in with it. It also had a touch of white truffle oil drizzled on top. The soup was very smooth. The truffle oil added ust a little earthiness to the soup which I really enjoyed. Next up were the frog legs. I preface this by saying this was my least favorite dish of the night, but it was still so yummy. The frog legs came with a basque pepper based sauce. The sauce was a little spicy and very very delicious. The only problem I had with the dish were the frog legs themselves. They were a little chewy and didn’t really absorb any flavor from the sauce. I’m not sure this is normal for frog legs or not. Anyways we actually asked for another basket of bread just to soak up the sauce(yes it was that good). The last entrée to come out was the venison. The venison was perfectly cooked, meaning it was still tender, moist, and tasty. The venison was placed on a bed of local mushrooms and fingerling potatos. There was also a layer of the most delicious melt cheese in the middle. The dish was delightful. For dessert my wife and I were served a chocolate pie with fruit on the side. All I can say was that it was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Now the service we received at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Corbon our server was very attentive. He was also very very knowledgable about the dishes he was serving. For instance he was able to tell us about the cheeses that were served and that they were locally produced at the north end of Vancouver Island. And he was also able to tell us where to purchase the cheese in town. He told us the venison was locally sourced. He was even able to tell us what was in the aioli sauces. He was that knowledgable. Corbon was a great server and it made our meal that much better having him there. With everything I’ve written here, you really need to go to this restaurant to have a meal. The chef here is amazing. When we head back to Vancouver we are so hitting this place again. I can’t say enough about how good our meal was at KItsilano Daily.

We went on the snow day so instead of being a packed house, there were only a few of us there. Made our girls’ christmas dinner that much better. The hostess and waitress were amazing. They explained the entrees and appetizers in a lot of detail and they were very helpful when we couldn’t decide what to get. She even gave us 3 baskets of bread and some to take home since they had extras due to cancellations. The bread was delicious and made from corn/potato. The lightly sweet and fluffy slices were accompanied by olives, blue cheese, oil/vinegar, sea salt side dishes. Great combinations! The«sample appetizer» was the best as you got 6 portions of any of the 8 appetizers or entrees. only $ 15!!! We got 2 to share in our table of 4. Both had the: Cream of roasted winter cauliflower soup– amazing taste –winter citrus cured sockeye salmon– lightly dressed with the key lime –Steamed salt spring island mussels and clams –Brown butter broiled Chinook Salmon– perfectly cooked! This chef knows what not to do(unlike most restaurants who like to over cook the fish) –Grilled veal After the appetizers, we ordered another sampler, the Brown butter broiled chinook(Salmon with picked puy lentils, wilted tatsoi, fermented garlic) and the Mixed Grill of Local Artisanal Meats(with melted leek polenta, walla walla onion jam, chanterelles) entrees. Great food, great service, great experience. We will definitely be back to try the 6 course meal one of these day. The price is a little higher but given the quality and passion put into the meal, I think it is totally worth it. Check out pictures !

This is a 10 star review. Without question, the best meal I have had at a restaurant in 2012. And just to let you know, I fine dine a lot globally on other people’s dime. Just saying… It is a MUST to do the«Six Course Culinary Adventure.» Others who have written reviews here will do a better job than me in describing. But its kinda cool — they don’t tell you what is on this special menu — some hints are provided. It was so mesmerizing, after the meal I had them write out what all the courses were. You know, just like when you go to a killer metal concert and beg somebody to give you the set list. Unfortunately I misplaced the list! EDIT: Found it, link to image of below. Oh yeah, forgot about the pork belly… Before the 6 courses came out, this incredible warm table bread was presented with a succulent blue cheese spread, stuffed olives, local olive oil and sea salt. The meal started with a buttery rich, roasted cauliflower soup with wild trout roe. .. and yeah it was wild! OK, now I’m forgetting a couple courses so I’ll jump to the climax — white tail deer chops. I’v had a lot of venison and reindeer in my day, but this was out of sight. By the time desert came, which was a perfectly balanced sweet & tangy tarte, I needed a cigarette(I don’t smoke). All I can say is I have not been fed a meal where so much love and detail was given to every aspect of the meal. Service was spectacular. Unscripted. Not pretentious. And fun. Wine list — at fist I was a little disappointed due to the all Western BC choices, and the starting price being CAD50. But was pleasantly surprised by the two Pinot Noirs brought to sample(nice touch) and bottle selected(from the Kelowna area). A major plus is they have a great corkage policy — pretty much anything you bring in thats not on their menu by style/region, there is no fee. Well I wish I could do Kitsilano more justice by providing a review that matched the quality of the experience. But hey, I think you get the picture. The menu for the evening’s 6 course culinary adventure is here:

2.5 stars, rounding up for decent cuisine. Terribly understaffed, unsuitable for larger parties. Was there on a Sat. evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday with a party of 14, and the kitchen(one chef) literally could not accommodate. Entire ordeal lasted a painful 3+ hrs, entrees took maybe an hour to arrive, bill took 30 min.+ to request.

I had previously read every single review on Unilocal and had heard countless stories about the best Unilocal Elite event ever being held here… so I have been dying to come here for some time. When my good friend was moving away, we decided to have our goodbye dinner here, and it just so happened to be the same night I celebrated my first year in Vancouver. We made reservations in advance but it turned out we wouldn’t have needed them. The entire time we were there, there were only 6 other tables and none of them more than two people. Despite being a Sunday evening, I was a little surprised by this given its reputation as one of the top restaurants in Vancouver. Our server was great — friendly, personable, and attentive. He described every dish to us and made meaningful small talk that wasn’t intrusive or overbearing. He also treated us to some lovely iced wine at the end of our meal to complement our desserts. I’m not sure if this was just because or a reward for checking in on Unilocal from my phone, but it was super appreciated! We went with the culinary adventure which is 6 courses for $ 65. This is one of the best values you’ll find in the city, in my opinion. Six courses for $ 65?! I’m surprised they stay are able to stay in business with such a great deal considering the careful consideration that goes into selecting the locally sourced daily ingredients and preparing them in such an artful manner. Really — $ 65 is very easy to spend in most Vancouver fine dining restaurants without even getting past 3 courses. Perhaps to compensate — wine prices slanted a bit high. There were some $ 12 – 14 options, but the $ 17 – 20 options seemed a bit too out of reach for me. It’s not that I can’t afford it – I just can’t justify it, that’s all. Our six courses were as follows: — grilled scallops with corn and pea shoots — sockeye salmon with black beans — king crab leg with couscous — veal tongue with greens — lamb with spatzle and eggplant — papaya peach cheesecake My list above doesn’t do the dishes justice, but I wasn’t taking notes as he described them and there is no menu for me to pull from! How about pictures? I’ve posted those. My favorites were the crab, the scallops, and especially the lamb. The dessert was a definite frontrunner also. I am not a huge fan of fresh papaya typically but it was an understated flavor. The cheesecake tasted freshly homemade and the fruit was not overpowering. It was the right amount of sweetness. There was one course we felt wasn’t well executed and sadly the one we were most excited about. The veal tongue was really tough — hard to cut through with a knife even. The flavors were good but I’m used to tender beef tongue, and I had imagined the veal tongue would be the same if not even more tender. It was a little bit of a bummer that it wasn’t quite as good as we’d imagined it would be, but didn’t detract from the overall experience. All the rest of the dishes were great. I will certainly come here again. I’ll probably pick a night other than Sunday. After the weekend’s rush, I can understand things are just a little subdued in the kitchen as everyone’s still recovering from the mad rush of the Friday and Saturday night service. I have no doubt that repeat visits will bring my rating up to 5 stars. I love the concept of daily cooking based on the freshest available ingredients. The mere fact that Chef Fowke is spending his mornings sourcing a unique menu and crafting special dishes on the fly each night — that warrants the title of one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. Add to that good service and the fact that a six course meal is affordable — wow, amazing.

I just love a restaurant that understands the need to create a menu around what is GOOD that day! Kitsilano Daily Kitchen has taken that concept and created an entire restaurant around it. From the start I knew it was going to be a great dining experience. Our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable and genuinely nice. If you are a little adventurous I would suggest enjoying the«Daily Tasting» for a low price of $ 15! The sampling on the tasting is chosen by the chef but each item is thoughtfully chosen and put together in an artful way. There was a bit of duck, scallop, pork belly, shrimp, heirloom tomatoes with local goat cheese, a lovely spicy sauce and some other sauce to accompany the seafood. I could have easily just sat at the bar and enjoyed the Daily Tasting with a glass of wine. However, I ordered a main course. My main course was based around shrimp but in a way it reminded me of a Cioppino. There were oysters and shrimp in the most amazing spicy tomato«sauce». You just wanted a loaf of bread to be sure you soaked up all that sauce and left your plate clean. This is certainly a spot to go an enjoy a wonderful meal. I know I will be back in the very near future.

I loved this restaurant after last first visit, so I returned to Kits for dinner w/my hubby and parents this time. Friendly staffs and great foods, I will return more often. August 17, 2012 menu: Sea of Cortez Rock Shrimp Salad — Extremely fresh little gem romaine and perfect dressing with salad. Pan-roasted Salt Spring Island Lamb Sausage — Just a bit gamey but taste good. ‘Little Hanger’ Beef — the beef a bit chewy. White Spring Salmon in sweet pea & mint risotto, watermelon radish slaw — the white salmon tasted a bit lighter than pink salmon. Bluefoot Chicken with bacon fried rice, arugula, braised endive, white balsamic — Just perfectly cooked and chicked so tender and smooth. Seafood Cioppino Stew in fingerling potatoes, scallop, sockeye, shrimps, Ahi tuna, tomato broth — Allo the seafoods are so fresh and yummy Porterhouse of Peace Country Lamb — Huge portio of porterhouse but the lambs were quite fatty.

Chef Fowke is a true chef. Rarely will you meet a chef who does what Brian does on a daily basis. Where most places have a fixed menu year round with maybe a couple daily specials, Brian shops local farmers markets in the AM daily, heck even drives to Pemberton to pick up veggies, then creates a new menu every day. Now that’s a chef. Super passionate and always a pleasure to learn about the story behind the ingredients. Local, sustainable and organic ingredients are prepared simply yet magically to create dishes that you will write home about. My 1st experience here was the Unilocal Elite Secret Midnight Dinner party. I won’t go into detail, but it created new taste buds for me among others. Shortly after, I returned and had a sloping hills pork belly that would make koshers jealous. My last visit was for the $ 38 Dine Out Vancouver menu, which is one heck of a deal to enjoy such caliber of cuisine. I usually don’t copy and paste menu info, but trust me, these words speak a story, read what I ate below and you’ll salivate. Appetizers: Roasted Cream of Winter Cauliflower Soup — butter poached belly of king crab, Fraser river sturgeon caviar, distilled AOC Italian white truffle oil ’jump-fried’ Alaskan Weathervane Scallops — maple — yam, sprouted bok choy, bacon fried rice Entrees: West Coast Seafood Cioppino — chorizo, heirloom tomato broth, Vancouver Island nugget potato — Day Boat fresh seafood(MASSIVE portion. Barely finished) 48 Hour Braised Canadian Heritage Angus Short Rib — spiny Pacific lobster & truffle mash, rutabaga butter, onion jam Desserts: Lemon cheescake and chocolate torte. Delicious happy ending. Good food costs money. But it’s worth every penny.
