I bought some pre-marinated cuts which saved the day, actually it saved the party and my lunch since I am on a GF cleanse at the moment hard core, no carbs. $$$, however, decent quality. Customer service was awesome.

We’ve shopped at Franklin’s butcher shop on 4th and although the quality and service are generally good, the quality and service of Jackson’s poultry at Granville Island is EXCEPTIONAL and we now pop in every weekend. In fact we refuse to purchase chicken, turkey, or duck anywhere else and rave about Franklin’s to our friends. Considering the poultry is always fresh never frozen, non-medicated, local and free-range, the prices are really competitive. The icing on the cake is that the service is OUTSTANDING — especially Martin, the English guy, who is both knowledgeable and gracious. We usually shop for chicken, turkey, duck breasts(Martin put us on to Magret duck which is the type that foie gras comes from and is very flavourful), and some of their prepared/ready-to-cook items, which are homemade/restaurant quality, but we also pickup chicken necks and backs for our 2 Great Danes who we have switched to a raw diet. At the beginning we would sometimes call ahead to place an order, and one especially busy week out of the blue we received a call from Martin asking if we would be stopping by that weekend so he could prepare our raw food order for us, as he noticed that we hadn’t called. Turns out he had looked us up on their call display and proactively called to ensure that we would have our weekly order for our Danes, and since then he has taken special care for their diet. Who does that? We were sold. Bottom line is that the quality and service are excellent, the prices very competitive, and your individual needs are looked after just as you would expect from a small town ‘artisanal’ butcher shop that’s been in the family for generations. I wish more places were like this! Please reward great quality and service by shopping at Franklin’s!

We visit Jackson’s Poultry to get all of our chicken meals. We’re big into fresh quality ingredients for all our meals. We shop daily on Granville Island. We like getting the great eggs for breakfast, chicken wings for lunch and dinners. Our family especially loves the savoury chicken halves. They are delicious baked and really easy to make. You will appreciate the freshness of the chicken. I know our family does at the dinner table. We’ve brought whole chickens for BBQs at friends houses and they can’t beleive the difference good quality fresh chicken makes in taste. Our friends rave about our awesome«beercan» chicken. Those other chickens from those«big stores» don’t compare.

Once upon a time, I was a frequent visitor and avid shopper at the Public Market, but sadly my wallet didn’t appreciate it, and I had to scale back to ‘once in a blue moon’. Unfortunately, the less you frequent, the less you know about the vendors, so on a beautiful sunny Monday, I tagged along with my sister, who may as well be the Princess of the Island. She shops for groceries every week, rubbing elbows with the vendors, and scoring the best products. It’s not hard to see why after so long away from the Market, I chose to follow her lead. After a friendly chat with the gentlemen working at Jackson’s Poultry, sister and I both waddled away with a breaded chicken shnitzel packaged and bagged for our dining pleasure. The shnitzel itself cost me just a little over 3 dollars, which is fine by me. Mmmm. All I can say is, «mmmm!» Chicken shnitzel fried in butter, heaven on a plate. It was incredibly delicious and fresh! Next time I will(again) follow my dear sisters lead and have them give the shnitzel a good whack, getting the meat nice and thin, to cook instantly as it hits the pan. Even in the old days, I was never one to buy raw meats at the Market, but I’m a changed woman!
