$ 225 dollars for some scrap materials stitched together for what looks like a grade 8 Home Economics project run a muck. is not what I would call cutting edge fashion…
I do like the minimalist appeal of the store. the like 4 products displayed are very cool. like an art installation.ok.I can dig it. but then you want me to pay over $ 100 for a scarf that looks like something my cat coughed up… umm. you lost me…

On the corner of an already picturesque street is this all-​windows, heritage looking store with large windows and black wood frame. When you look inside the store, it’s a few racks with intricate, distinguished looking pieces that you can tell are not in a big box store. Most of the women’s wear is produced in their studio and on-​site and it’s very unique. The focus of the designer is hand-​made design and natural fabrics. Über-​cool, the store has been written up in NYTimes, Travel and Leisure and such.

Hunt & Gather makes a good stop as you work your way through Gastown’s hipster clothing shops. The clothes here are well made and make use of lots of nice, sturdy fabrics, but I will say that not everything here is that practical to wear and neither is it artistic enough to be called wearable art. Hunt and Gather clothes tend to be oversized, and even bulky, which is handy if you want to sink into your clothes like you sink into a knitted blanket, but I’m not sure if they’re that flattering. Still, this is a nice shop with an original aesthetic, and though I don’t love the clothes, I’d give it a once over to see if you find something that appeals.

This is a cool store full of designs inspired by what else? Hunt & Gather era living.
With large swathes of fabric that drape your body being a commonality amongst the clothing and edgy yet basic looks, this is one place I would definitely encourage any female in your life to take a look see at.
Not to mention this store has a very cool down to earth look to it. If you’re into retail design/​merchandising this is one to check out.
