Beef noodle is great, tender beef chewy noodles. The fried tofu and fried chicken were very good, but the xiao long bao are spectacularly good! The jiang dry noodles kinda reminded me of cat food but that’s how it’s supposed to be so no points off there. It can be quite busy being tiny but the turn over time is quick! I will try the popcorn chicken next time! Cash and debit

Good noodle soup here. The spicy beef noodle soup is way too spicy for me, I’m choking just breathing it in! But two others in my party can handle that kind of heat and they really enjoy it. I order the regular beef noodle soup which is just perfect for me. Green onion pancake and dumplings are good side dishes. Lack of veggies on the menu. Hole in the wall place with no attention to décor. You don’t get service with a smile here. Very small place so don’t come here with a large group. Come here for a quick, simple noodle soup and support a small mom and pop business.

The beef noodle soup was okay, but I’ve had better. The beef was briny and rubbery, which is unusual for this Unilocaler. It was okay, but not my preferred method of preparation. Vegetables in soup were very fresh and crisp, even though it is winter. Soup was flavorful but not as spicy as the menu implied. The chicken on rice featured very crisp and spicy chicken chunks. Ironically, the veggies were of the frozen peas, corn and carrot variety from the grocery store.

I used to live in Vancouver and I have fond memories of being brought here more than 15 years ago. Since then, I’ve moved to Ontario and have sampled a lot of different types of beef noodle soup. Still, I’ve always had the suspicion that Huang’s was better but I wasn’t sure if there was an element of nostalgic bias. I recently had an opportunity to visit Vancouver again and to my pleasant surprise, this place was still open. After 15 years, things haven’t changed much. The décor and signage are still the same and the owner still buzzed back and fourth between the kitchen and front. The menu looks the same too. I hyped the place up to my partner so expectations were high. We ordered two bowls of spicy beef noodle soup, pig ears, spicy pickled cucumbers, spicy wontons, and deep fried spicy tofu. The pig ears were excellent, thinly sliced and well spiced. The pickled cucumbers were pretty decent but standard. The spicy wontons I would probably skip the next time. The deep fried tofu was excellent and well spiced, salty garlic goodness. Now on to the beef noodle soup — it was exactly how I remembered it to be. I realize this may sound like hyperbole but it’s still better than any beef noodle soup I’ve had in Toronto. Usually at beef noodle soup houses, there’s always something off, whether it’s the broth, the noodles, or the quality of meat. Huang’s manages to get all the elements right. Let’s start with the broth. Compared with other beef noodle soup houses, Huang’s hits it out of the park. It really has a lot of depth to it; it’s a bit spicy(but not overbearingly so) and a little salty, but there’s a very mild tartness to it that I’ve never had in any other beef noodle soups. The pickled vegetables on top are a nice addition that provides extra character to the dish. The noodles are slightly thick and al dente and plentiful. No complaints here. Finally, the beef is really tender and not overly fatty. The tendons are pretty good too. You won’t go to Huang’s for the ambiance but the beef noodle soup is something else. I actually ended up coming here twice on my most recent visit. Hopefully when I visit Vancouver again, Huang’s will still be there!

Small family run place. Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant. Very small interior. Tried quite a few items on the menu. Mostly pretty average tasting. Nothing really stands out. Pan fried dumplings were alright, much better than the steamed ones. Good enough to get you’re Taiwanese beef noodle fix. Cash only!

Oh my gosh. I had such high hopes. Their claim to fame is terrible. The soup didn’t even taste like beef broth. My Dad, Sis, and I came from California with high hopes that this beef noodle soup will live up to the same standard as it is served in Taiwan, but it is soooo far from it. We all ordered the spicy tendon and beef noodle soup. The broth should be a deep dark broth with red chili oil grazing over the top. The soup we got was brown and slightly orange/tomato color… so not it. The taste was even worse. I didn’t even taste the beef? Where is the deep beef flavor? This is no where close to authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup. It’s terrible.

Went in for lunch today and i have to say that i was impressed! This place is a total hole in the wall. Seriously, this place deserves more credit ! I live near by and didn’t even noticed that it was a restaurant! This restaurant makes me feel like i am sitting in someone’s home or sitting at an authentic beef noodle restaurant in taiwan. The place is a little small, only about 5 tables. The menu is very straight forward nothing complicated. I ordered spicy beef noodle which is their specialization and a deep fried tofu. All of that went to$ 11.20 which wasn’t that bad at all!(The beef noodle was about $ 7 and yhe tofu was about $ 3). If you are looking for some quick and chrap meal i recommend to try this place out!

Pretty good beef noodles is what this place has going for it. Definitely come here for some of the menu items other Unilocalers talk about. However, I would not come here looking for a nice atmosphere as it’s definitely a small dive feeling. I was the only person in the tiny restaurant the entire time I was there which didn’t feel good especially when the lone waitress didn’t really come out and there was no music playing in the background. It made for a pretty lonely experience. Decent food but«meh» overall experience and that, in my books, is just as important as the food.

We walked in and the place is empty and stays that way the whole time we’re there. The menu offers the classic Taiwanese dishes. I opted for the regular beef noodle(#2) while my dining companion got the half tendon, half meat option with a spicy broth(#1). My broth was devoid of any sort of flavour which was a disappointment. The spicy one was rather tasty though(but too spicy for me). The beef was pretty good as were the noodles. An upgrade to the broth and I’ll be happy. We also got a side dish of fried chicken which was pretty tasty, but not the best I’ve had. Otherwise service was typical of this type of place — brisk and not exactly friendly which is fine. We were there close to closing and surprisingly they didn’t rush us out the door which was nice.

Better than average spicy beef noodle soup. Noodle al dante, bite size beef pieces chewy and bak choi veggies too so it’s a balanced meal. The broth is good with lots of sesame oil though the spicy peppers makes me cough. Note not much MSG that I can taste. Anyways don’t expect attentive service, it’s a eat and go establishment.

My husband has been going to this restaurant for 16 years now. I was introduced to it when we started dating 9 years ago. We absolutely love coming here and would come more often if it wasn’t so far from where we currently live. This place is definitely a hole-in-the-wall. It’s very small and simple. I generally order the Deep Fried Pork Chop Rice while my husband orders to Spicy Beef Noodle. We never leave disappointed. Everything is homemade and the restaurant is run by a nice family. We have also previously ordered the Pigs Ear, Deep Fried Tofu, Shanghai Dumplings, Gyoza and Chinese Pancake. Everything always tastes fresh and perfectly flavoured with no complaints and we are very picky eaters! The only slightly negative comment I could give is they have increased their prices 2 – 3 times over the last few years which is a bit much. However, the prices are still average compared to other Taiwanese restaurants. Highly recommended!

Too bad I didn’t find out about this place till recently, it’s really what I’ve been looking for since the one near Main and 38th closed long ago when the owner expanded and quality plumeted. Anyway this small shop reminds me of those high quality soup and noodle complimented by reasonable pricing in a no frills venue. Spicey Beef/Tendon noodle soup was very well done, rich in flavor without the addition of MSG. The missing one star is for a slightly less than expected beef/tendon in the soup but will definitely be back to try other dishes. Ps CASH only.

I still think back to my first bowl of noodles, every time I drive by this place. It’s sort of awkwardly situated on Victoria, so parking is never easy enough for me to justify a stop for a meal. But if you do get a chance, you’re supporting another mom-n-pop shop that serves up great Taiwanese beef noodles. The broth is definitely reminiscent of the broth you get on a busy street in Taipei.

I walked into this place with my sister for the first time and the server didn’t greet but kept staring at us and gave us a menu. We’ve red menu that was listed and ordered beef noodle which was mediocre taste. Noodle soup was bland, noodle wasn’t soft enough and meat was salty and not tender enough. I prefer Beefy Beef over Huang’s Beef Noodles, will not return.

The last time I ate at Huang’s was probably about 5 – 10 years ago. It was good back then and it’s still just as good today. I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and it was a solid choice. Tender pieces of BITESIZE beef with perfectly cooked noodles. I emphasized the bite size because I can’t stand other Taiwanese Beef Noodle places with their GIANT pieces of beef. I find those annoying to eat. Anyway. The décor hasn’t really changed and I wasn’t really expecting it to suddenly be glamorous looking. It’s a hole-in-the-wall. There are only a handful of tables. Their washroom was also their storage/closet space. But who cares! They serve good food and that’s all that matters. I hope they stick around for at least another 5 – 10 years!

Hidden gem hole on the wall. Solid Taiwanese beef noodle. Thin slices of beefy, chewy noodles, and flavorful broth. Friendly owners. Happy to have this restaurant in the neighborhood!

Always a great place for a nice piping hot bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodles. I can’t recall exactly how much a bowl was, but I think it was somewhere around $ 6.95. Very reasonable prices and hits the spot on a nice rainy day in Vancouver. Given that the summer has finally ended as of mid October this year, I’m sure that I’ll be going here more often. I love supporting small family-run restaurants, and this is where Unilocal comes in to help build the awareness of fine hole-in-the-wall places like Huang’s. If you want to go somewhere off the beaten path, somewhere less commercialized, this is definitely a good place to check out.

This place has pretty good tawianese beef noodles. I always order the spicy one. It’s a pretty small hole in the wall place, there is probably like 5 or 6 tables and the lady/server(owner?) is pretty nice. The broth is very tasty and the noodles are cooked just right, not too soft and the beef is always tender. It’s also pretty cheap compared to some places, I think it’s like 7 bucks a bowl… not too shabby!

My partner and I were driving up and down Victoria Dr. looking for an udon joint but we ended up at this hole in the wall. We were hesitant to go in even though we saw a couple of occupied tables. After doing a quick Unilocal search on our reliable gadgets, we went in. Based on the previous reviews swritten, this place looks promising. The eatery seats only 22. The co-owner, a Taiwanese woman in her late 30’s, was not all that polite. My partner and I took a peek at the menu and decided to «give this place a try» so we ordered a spicy beef and noodle soup. We didn’t wait too long for our order to arrive. The beef broth was good. I find it a tad too salty but the chili oil definitely gave it a kick. The noodles were cooked al dente which in Taiwan this rarely happens. But I must say the noodles were fresh, and none of that dry pre-packaged noodles. The type of beef was used correctly BUT, the meats should have been cut in chunks and not in slices of 0.3 to 0.4mm. Again, I think the noodle soup isn’t bad(I’d give 3.75 out of 5) but I don’t think I’ll order the same thing when I return. My love for beef noodle soup still belongs to Flavor Eats in Crystal Mall(food court). I’d come back to this joint and try their deep fried tofu and amongst other things.

This is a great little noodle house. Limited menu, but what they do, they do well. Cheap, cheap, cheap!!! Generous portions. Spicy wontons to start. The lady warned us they were spicy and THEYWERESPICY. I got hiccups and flames started shooting out of my mouth. Honey had the beef noodle soup. He couldn’t resist seeing as we were at «Huang’s Beef Noodle». As expected, they make an amazing beef noodle soup I got the Deep Fried Pork Chop Rice. Deep fried pork cutlet on the side, with a generous bowl of rice with veggies. Very Satisfying!
