This place is terrible. Their sushi is sloppy, their miso is bad, and their sashimi comes in small pieces. The reason I’m writing this however, is because I’d ordered 6 pieces of Sashimi(3xtuna, 3xsalmon) and when I recieved it, it was Nigiris. The person who it was ordered for doesn’t even like rice, so basically he’s sacrificing 80% of the fish and throwing the rice out. I obviously called back a woman answered and she was really frustrated, angry and yelling at me for calling back. «WELLWHATDOYOUWANTUSTODO?» She were screaming at me. I’m not so angry. I’m reasonable. I asked if they’d just bring me the Sashimi. She was really mad, hung up on me. I called back, no answer. After ten more minutes, I called back and she agreed to send it over. When I received the order, the guy at the door politely asked for the old food out, but I’d already thrown it in the garbage and taken the garbage out back. He was understanding, but said he had to put me on the phone with the restaurant. I talked to the woman who continued to yell at me. Finally she gave it to me and then hung up without saying good bye. DISCLAIMER: The delivery dude was really good though, polite and nice.

I ordered shrimp tempura, wild salmon, toro and hamachi sashimi, the white dragon roll and a combo of tai sashimi, dynamite roll, avocado and kappa roll and miso soup. The delivery time was 15 minutes beyond their estimated time, I was not upset about it as the food temperature was adequate when it arrived. The tempura was oil saturated, the sashimi pieces were on the smaller side and the hamachi was a bit frozen. The special roll was very loose and fell apart immediately, the shrimp inside had pieces of shell on. The dynamite roll had a rancid taste and I had to throw it. The only OK item was the avocado and kappa roll. Deeply disappointed, won’t order again.

I only gave this place another chance because tatsu was super busy… Save yourself the money and stomach ache and go somewhere else! The rolls are loose and fall apart and the tempura was dripping with oil… I felt pretty horrible about a half an hour later. The restaurant wasn’t very tidy either, especially the bathroom of doom! The waitress is friendly but she’s always wearing big sweat pants and uggs… Doesn’t bother me but it looks unprofessional but I guess it just goes with their overall untidy theme.

This was the WORST sushi place in the town! In the quiet atternoon we dined in, the rude waitress gave BAD service for us and she just talked with the chef constantly. The food was bad too. Both my friend and I felt sick after this meal. Evil chef and waitress!!! bad food! Don’t waste your money on this restaurant, friends!

Possibly not the best sushi I’ve had in my life but this place is pretty awesome for some late night grubs! They have a $ 6.99 special where you get 3 rolls AND delicious miso soup. For that great of a deal, I am definitely not complaining if the yams happen to be overcooked once in a while! I am very happy with this place — they have awesome deals, warm customer service and a great deal of convenience.

The rolls were tasty, service was friendly, and the food came quickly. It’s small inside but clean and nicely decorated. Very reasonably priced.

Food poisoning warning!!! Why can I not give 0 stars?!! This place is THEWORST Drive arrived 80 min after I ordered. Demanded a tip which I had already given him online. Totally rude. Food was off(tuna sashimi) wish I had thrown it out(or better yet not ordered at all). What part of it I did eat gave me severe food poisoning and I was up all night running between toilet and sink. Avoid at all costs. Unless you like barfing all night.

Undoubtedly, lots of stiff competition here along the Drive, and while it’s your typical hole in the wall but clean joint, these guys are known for their good value and customer service. A place to fix the craving and their mix and match combos are pretty good. Small location with bench wall seating, about 6 tables or so. And you can order bubble tea under one roof. Extra star is they even deliver all the way to Lonsdale in North Van, that’s impressive. In general, they’ve got a pretty far delivery area.

My husband was starving. We ordered chicken Yaki udon and bento box A2. They brought it my bento box quickly but forgot my husband’s chicken yaki udon. As a result of this error, they brought us a free seaweed salad on the house. The seaweed salad was good. Later they brought my husband a beef yaki udon(another error), but my husband was so hungry that he ate it. He said they were too heavy handed on the sauce. The California rolls and tempura in my bento box were good. The beef teriyaki was too mushy. It’s very hot in the restaurant in the summer.

Wow, only two reviews for this restaurant and they’re both bad? I have not been in the establishment but I can tell you about the food since I have ordered from there a couple times now and am doing so again! The sashimi is fresh(I have had toro and salmon sashimi) and their rolls are tasty. I tried the green leaf roll because it had an interesting variety including beet, in it, and I would order it again, but I am going to try something different each time if I can. I had their spicy salmon roll which I enjoyed as well, I like that the spicy sauce is not as sweet as it is spicy. I have not had any problems with the tempura which is delivered and crispy! It doesn’t get soggy during the delivery which I am very happy about. I really am surprised at the criticism this place has taken but it is only two reviews, folks, so don’t give this place a miss just because the only two people who bothered to review gave two stars. As for the other reviews and others similar to them sprinkled all over Unilocal,I feel this needs to be said: Anybody who says that if the restaurant they are criticizing was only place open AND offering free food that they would rather starve, and that the food went in the garbage comes off as a bit of a snot with money to burn. I can be a food snob too, but you won’t see me throwing out an entire meal unless it is obvious I will get sick from it. Perhaps Michaela went in on an off day. All our favourite places have their moments. Maybe it was a new cook, and if the restaurant is newish, it can take a few months to get themselves sorted out anyway. Try again later. As for bubble tea taking too long, it could be that the tapioca balls for the bubble tea needed to cook or finish cooking first before they could make the bubble tea, since it takes about half an hour for pearls to cook and then they have to cool down in some water for about 20 minutes before you can put them in the tea. Perhaps if people learned how things work in a restaurant, they would be able to practice patience and understanding.

I was brought up being told that you always finish the food on your plate, and it’s a way of life that I adhere to still. Why wouldn’t I want to finish my food? Food is awesome! Well, unless it comes from Hirado Sushi. My take out from here was so bad that most of it, unfortunately, ended up in the garbage. Without a doubt, it was the worst I’ve had in Vancouver. The rice was so dry that it fell apart when I looked at it the wrong way, except on my salmon tempura roll where it was so mushy I couldn’t distinguish between grains. On top of that, it was absurdly bland and very poorly rolled. The only reason I’m giving Hirado 2 stars is that the service was friendly and fast. With all the amazing sushi joints on the Drive, there is no reason I would ever return here. Even if everything else was closed and they were offering free food. I’d rather go hungry.

on a particularly hot day I noticed their signs for bubble tea while walking down the drive, so i decided to grab one. the restaurant is absolutely tiny. there is barely room to stand and pay. Then to my absolute shock I asked how long it would be, assuming a few minutes seeing as its powder and liquid in a cup and was told at least 10 minutes. Ridiculous. In the end it was closer to 15. Lesson learnt. I won’t be making that mistake again
