Coffee is good. Which to me isn’t the biggest accomplishment. The impression I got is that they don’t want anyone to stay. The seating is incredibly awkward and there is no wifi. I’m not looking to post up and work on my epic novella, but a little wifi in a city with the worst data plans in the world in a neighbourhood full of tech companies and start ups where people might want to have a quick coffee meeting isn’t unreasonable. Not sitting on a wooden block at a kids table would also be nice. Why have a café when you’re clearly running a coffee stand?

Ever since they got rid of the clover brew system this place lost its unique edge and the main reason I sought them out. It’s still a decent coffee shop but no longer stands out as a destination spot for me. Sad to see the change.

I think the last time I came here, they still had the clover machines. Cappucino was pretty mediocre, a bit burnt and had grinds at the bottom??? And the coffee itself wasn’t anything to write home about.

I used to like Elysian MUCH more but after today I do not think I’ll be back. One person working(cash and making the drinks) meant a long wait, the«large» size is a large price but small size… They used to have water available freely on taps(including sparkling), sadly it is no longer here. A couple stars for smooth coffee, but otherwise not worth it in my opinion. Oh well!

I tried this café upon recommendation from a fellow Unilocaler. I must say this coffeshop is not bad at all. I mentioned to the barrista that this is my first time in the café and she was willing to make suggestions based on how I take my coffee. I like my coffee with milk no sugar so we went for a latte. The latte is foamy just as it should be. It’s not as strong as I’m used to. Since it was almost noontime I decided to order Turkey Croissant. The croissant is buttery and comes with a 2-yr old cheddar cheese. I must say I would come back just for the Turkey Croissant. The people who work here seems to enjoy what they’re doing. The barristas are first name basis with the regulars. I think that’s cool.

You gotta go here! Great little spot for coffee on Broadway. Their café mocha is a must have.

Wow for a café that lives near one of the major hospitals in the lower mainland, you would think that it is a nice relaxing place to enjoy some caffeine. This past visit was maybe my 7th visit but this time around(on a Friday midday visit) it was super noisy! I don’t know if it is just because of the concrete redesign, but the ambient noise made it really hard to catch up with the person sitting right beside me! On a better note though, coffee is solid and staff are great. The interior looks good. They also sell baked goods if you’re into eats instead of sips.

I came here during my lunch break as a working lunch break as I had a few things that I wanted to send out before the weekend. I was informed after I had placed an order that they don’t turn on the wifi until after 4 pm. First time I have heard a coffee shop in the city do this and I have been to a lot of coffee shops this year(see my 100 coffee shops in 52 weeks challenge list). There was no exception, this was a working lunch, therefore, if they weren’t going to turn on the wifi so that I could send out important correspondence before the weekend than they didn’t need my $ 13 lunch and coffee order that I cancelled before she started.

One of the best coffee roasters in town. Their bean selection changes regularly. The baristas are all competent and trained well but be taciturn/snooty. But they pull one of the best shots around; thy their macchiato if you like a small amt of milk folded in. Is like a cortadito. Cashiers are generally friendly. There is a new location on Ontario and 5th-ish.

My friend and I visited this coffee shop for the first time as it was ranked as one of the top 10 independent coffee shops in Vancouver in 2013. The coffee was very acidic which I didn’t like. The customer service was pleasant, except the strange guy who made the coffee. After the coffee was made, he just held my coffee and stared at me but wouldn’t give me my coffee. I smiled at him, but he still stared at me expressionless and motionless. It was creepy or maybe snobbish. I had to hold my hand out to gesture to him to give me my coffee. The sitting area was organized with little space between tables. While having a conversation with my friend, I felt like the customers on both of our sides were listening — In fact, they were, as they both turned around to look at us when my friend got to the climax of her story. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Perhaps it was one of the top 10 independent coffee shops in Vancouver two years ago, but not anymore.

Just bought a take out coffee. 3 $ for prepared medium size, they kept the coffee warm in a vacuum bottle. This is not a make after order kind of coffee that you would expect for what they are charging .Bad value if you put money into the equation. The coffee itself is mild, acidic and watery. There is no body. It has some buttery favor. The experience is very lacking. It is like when i made my own cup of coffee but using too much water. It just makes you angry when sucking it down you throat. I hope my angry cells will recover. Won’t be future customer.

I am trying what some say is the best coffee in Vancouver. I find the aroma enticing, with expected notes coupled with crispy hot dog roasted over a fire. The taste I find lacks somewhat in fullness, but is overall nice. Note that this is the decaf…

For a place to be seen, or want to see other people, this is a happening place. But not a place to work or read surf in private, it’s awfully loud. Busy area anyways. Short coffee meetings are fine here, and reasonable pastries, nothing over $ 3. Like their Columbian espressos, a bit of a medium roast. No amex. WIFI only available after 4pm, somewhat clever. Great seating in the back corner, with a ledge behind you. Lots of window action seating.

After dinner at Shizen Ya on my final evening in Vancouver, I came here for one last coffee. I love that the storefront features a long counter facing out towards the street so you can people-watch. Anyhow, I liked my CAPPUCCINO. Good service too even though it was nearing closing time.

Probably my favourite latte in Vancouver. I only have about one a month now, so if I’m going to drink one, I want it to be delicious. This is where I prefer to go. It’s crazy busy during peak times, and even off peak(say, 4pm on a weekday) it’s hard to get a seat. The staff knows their coffee, but they’re probably the least friendly coffee shop workers in town.

I have been meaning to try this place for a long time and have bookmarked it over a year. Finally, I got a chance to go there on my day off. I went there on Friday morning and found it’s so busy! Long line up at the cashier, no seat available and even no space to stand! I didn’t understand why the people rated them so high and I really disappointed with the coffee that I got. My hubby’s latte wasn’t impressive and my mocha wasn’t great. The baristas was not friendly at all either. Between Main and Cambie Street, there are a lot of coffee shops a way better than Elysian. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all to anyone

It took us a while to find this coffee shop compared to the other ones, but once we did, we loved it! The coffee selection is good, and the espresso is nicely pulled. The drip coffee is served in a mini-french press, which is adorable. The baked goods always look super tasty, but have yet to indulge in them. The vibe is also nice at this place — folks behind the counter are friendly and aren’t in a rush to get you out, and don’t make you feel silly if you aren’t sure which single origin fair trade bean you want in your coffee. Def. worth a visit!
