Small sushi restaurant, amazing and original sushi rolls, the quality is on par with some of the higher end sushi restaurants like Miku.

Based on what I’ve had here so far, I would give this spot a 3.5. They have some interesting rolls in that they have unique ingredients combined that you don’t necessarily find in all sushi shops. I’ve had their tempura yam roll, which is just middle of the road compared others places I’ve had the same roll at. I also tried the dream roll. This tasted good — spicy salmon with sockeye salmon and fish roe. However, I found it a bit pricey. For both rolls, it was over $ 14. Regarding taste and quality, there are other shops with similar offerings but at lower costs. Perhaps I need to try some of their other items. It seems like people like the tuna tataki, and the lunch specials are good deals. It could improve my rating of this spot. In the meantime I’ll try out some other local sushi spots.

My favourite neighbourhood sushi spot. Efficient service, good prices(though, they have increased slightly – blame that on Main Street rent!) and food that is consistently fresh and delicious. It’s nothing special, but for dependable and good quality take-out, this is my go-to!

This place has an amazing selection of speciality rolls! As an example we ordered a peking duk roll which is not offered at many other places. The Toro nigiri was pretty good as well.

Vancouver has tons of sushi restaurants but not all of them have the specialty rolls that Dream offers. I had a couple friends who had gone to Dream in the past and I drooled over their photos. In particular, I wanted to try their Peking duck specialty roll. Yes, it lived up to the hype. Crispy skin, nice chunks of duck in the middle, and finished with duck sauce. What’s not to love? We also tried a couple other of their specialty rolls: Volcano roll(negitoro, scallop & black sesame) and Dream roll(spicy salmon, topped with salmon, fish roe). The Peking duck was the best, followed by the Dream roll. The Volcano roll’s black sesame was just so-so. We also had an order of gomae which was pretty standard & and agedashi tofu with batter that was a little thick. All in all, a good meal. I didn’t notice any problems with service as mentioned by fellow Unilocalers but maybe that’s because it was a quiet weekday evening. Definitely going back and having more Peking duck!

I have eaten a lot of sushi and dream sushi is awesome. Good prices and their specialty rolls are amazing and creative. The staff is always very friendly, I go here or order often.

The quality and value of sushi are ok. The downfall with this place is the staff… they are not friendly and not attentive. Will not be returning as so many better sushi places in the ‘hood.

A little bit of a hole in the wall, service can be slow and a little rude at times, however, I come here as it is one of the places that serves cheap basic sushi for avocado and cucumber rolls. I normally take it to go to eat in the park.

Not authentic. Food and price are ok, but they overload on rice with the sushi. Service is terrible, not friendly, and not attentive. Place seems rundown and unclean. There are so many other better places to have sushi in the city. Won’t go back.

Great location on Main with lots of free parking around the area. As for food I can only comment on their Lunch special where you choose 2 items from a list and it comes to $ 6.50. For the choices they give you it’s a pretty good deal. My gf had their small tofu teriyaki and avocado roll and I had their small chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna roll, we both opted to pay .50 cents extra for brown rice on each of the 4 and added a chicken karaage as well. The sushi was delicious and fresh and our small teriyaki meals were a decent size and because of the brown rice substitutions they were also filling. The karaage wasn’t very good mainly because it came across as more of a Vietnamese style dish with the vinegar style sauce that was served with it(If it was a Phở restaurant i’d probably enjoy it more) In the end the lunch deal is something I’d go back for and since it’s located in such a great area on Main street, the appeal would be there after a little walk around town.

This is our go-to spot for sushi in the area. Probably the best in the neighbourhood! The sushi is high quality and the service, although not overly friendly, is very prompt. The reason I would really take away one star is that the restaurants lacks ambience. But it’s a great place to eat if you’re craving sushi!

First time there a few weeks ago. Very good suhi, great service, clean place. I loved their own house rolls. Def going back!

Has it been over 2 years ago since I have been here? Well my last review obviously says so… oh how times have changed! When I am wanting good value Japanese food, I usually go down to Sushi Mania… but unfortunately I was around the area on Monday and they are closed… and my family member wanted this type of food, since I had an alright experience before might as well revisit this to see if they are able to keep up from the last time I was here. Coming in around 1230PM the restaurant had 3 tables… so it was easy seating. While we sat in the corner, our menus came quite quickly. I noticed right on the menu they have brown rice and flax seed options for their rolls, of course with an added fee… seems like this is the new trend! I ordered one of their lunch specials, 2 choices amongst the 15 or so that they let you choose from, my choices were a spicy salmon maki type roll, and 3 pieces of gyoza. I also ordered one of their set sushi combos, which included stuff like California roll, mixed nigiri, and 3 salmon and tuna maki’s. Our orders both included miso soup… so that is what came first, it was your standard fare… nothing to really say about this. The waitress brought over a small dish with wasabi and yellow ginger, and first up was the 3 piece gyoza. Thin skinned, just a little crispy on one of the sides, something you can prepare at home on your on non-stick pan… nothing special, just filler in my opinion. The spicy salmon rolls came next, nicely presented in a zig-zag placement, lightly topped off with the orange spicy sauce to give the rolls some kick, the only problem was the rice, it was dry and a little too hard. Eventually the other combo sushi dish came, and clearly we did not have enough wasabi, and had to ask for more, which took some time. Your average placement of 6 small maki’s in one corner, 4 California rolls on the other side, one piece of salmon, tuna, ebi, and a loaded imitation crab roll on the bottom, this tray of food looked like something you would pick up at your local grocery store, something like at T&T, and the bad part was. it actually tasted like it too. We didn’t even finish the food on the table, it was that bad… some prepared takeout at supermarkets was better than this, over-riced… hard… the fish didn’t taste fresh, and to think my last time here was actually ok. I really cannot recommend this place if the food is going to come out like this, hopefully it was just a ‘trick or treat’ week… and obviously I got tricked!

What’s the hype about dream sushi? It was just ok. Came here for dinner, but didn’t find it spectacular or anything. We ordered the basic rolls like California and dynamite. Some sashimi. Perhaps we didn’t order the items they are known for. Also found it kind of expensive in the end. No plans to come back here.

Went there for dinner. Ordered Califorina sushi roll, chicken karrage and chicken noodle. The sushi was good, and the noodle was a bit oily, but ok. Now, here is the problem… the chicken karrage came, and I was shocked. They came in a bowl of small pieces of chicken«balls» ! Instead of getting the Japanese fried chicken«pieces», I got tiny little fried chicken«crumbs»! Disappointed. Practically speaking, they were snack, not considered as a dish. I ended up eating something else instead.

My husband and I came here because Chai was over an hour wait. The sushi was decent. It was about average for a local sushi restaurant. They so have a small patio if you want to sit outside so that was nice.

When you find yourself asking the question: how the hell do I feed 50 people for under $ 100? This. This is how. Enter event day, with mere hours before kick off, I, in an act of misguided multitasking and lunacy, decide to try and balance a food tray and a folding table, while opening my car door with my foot. Needless to say, I quickly and unceremoniously dumped my entire feed for 50 on the ground of my back alley. Neighbourhood crows: you are welcome. *Enter panic mode here* It’s Monday. Both my go-to sushi joints are closed and i’ve got t-minus 2 hours before the event. After a few quick stomps around my yard, I chug a coffee, grab my iPhone and hope to hell Unilocal can save the day. 15 minutes later i’m walking into Dream Sushi with a wing and a prayer: «Do you do party platters?» They do. Thank lordy, they do. They actually have an entire page dedicated to party platters… which I suppose isn’t out of the norm for most sushi joints. What IS out of the norm? The platters run in the $ 25 – 40 range a piece and each have 40 – 50 pieces a pop. I gather you can do the math but whoa — cheap! Plus, unlike some places that require a ton of lead time, Dream needed 20 minutes max to whip up this party saving platterfest. 150 pieces of sushi ran me just under $ 90. Not bad, not bad at all. What’s more — the sushi was a hit(or at least, i’m assuming it was, it was gone within minutes). So all in all, though I haven’t been here for dinner or eaten more then one piece of this sushi — this place both gets a solid four stars and a firm spot on my go-to list for future events. TIp of the event hat to you Dream!

Alert: Something is rotten on Main St and its the fish from Dream Sushi. This was one of my two go-to sushi places in Vancouver. I don’t know what’s happened in the last year but every time I come here now its worst than the last time. I kept thinking it was a blip that all businesses can have but after my last meal there it will truely be my last. Had the deluxe sashimi platter, go mae and ass. temp.(thats how they labeled my container). The tempura was actually really good, the salad passable but the sashimi was horrible. I should have stopped eating it right away but I was starving. I couldn’t come close to finishing it and gave some to the dog but even he turned his nose up at most of it. Fast forward to this morning and we’ve both been sick, as well dogs. I should have taken the ass temp label as a sign of things to come. Bleh to Dream Sushi.

Very reliable and reasonably priced for the area. The lunch specials are a great deal. The rice is always the proper texture, and the sashimi is fresh tasting. Service in house is very good, but we usually get take out. Tempura is crispy and non-greasy, but the other hot dishes aren’t my favourite. The teriyakis tend towards over sweet and over oily for my taste. There is better sushi in the city, but this is a solid choice for a neighbourhood place.

I just found this restaurant was highly rated on Unilocal! However, I didn’t think it meet my standard. I agreed the food was cheap but poor quality! Toro sashimi was a bit fishy = not fresh! Sockeye salmon sushi was tiny and dry! Chopped scallop cone was soaky! Amaebi sushi was awful and fishy! Tai was tasteless! The volcano roll was ok.
