I reserved a table for two on for the dine out Vancouver at Dockside restaurant. When my friend and I arrived at the front desk of the restaurant, we reported to the server and thought that we would get a table right away. However we had to wait for a while before seated. The server finally gave a table right beside the windows and we could see a night view right beside us. It was too dark that we couldn’t see too much and it was raining but the view must be very nice during day time or in summer. The server gave us the dine out Vancouver menu right away. We chose what we would like to eat and ordered right away. The food arrived quickly. Once we had finished one dish, another dish arrived right away. The server checked with us and made sure if we enjoyed the food or we required anything. He did not really bug us a lot. The appetizer legendary chili squid was okay. It was like the Chinese style of crispy, hot and spicy squid. The other appetizer roasted pear and arugula salad was better than the squid. We both ordered the same main course, grilled flat iron beef. It was alright. Nothing really surprised us. We both liked the desserts, apple tarte tartin(puff pastry, roasted apples and cinnamon gelato) and Crème caramel(French vanilla custard, strawberries and vanilla crisp). The atmosphere or interior was quite nice but the restaurant was full of people, so it was quite noisy. My friend and I had to speak louder at our table. The price was set at $ 30 per person as per the dine out Vancouver menu. The price was reasonable for a three course meal. I came here for lunch before. The food was great. I would actually like to come back and try their brunch menu.

I expected the food to be a lot better than it was. We ordered the squid, crab cakes and a Ceaser salad for our appys. The crab cakes were average, the squid wasn’t that great however the Ceaser salad was delicious. My girlfriend had a large Ceaser salad with prawns and she was missing a prawn, I had the mussels which I also was not that thrilled about. The service was good I would not go back the food just wasn’t up to par with the prices. My girlfriend is also upset with me for giving them 3 stars she thinks they deserved 2.

Dockside Seafood Restauraunt located in Granville Island, Vancouver. It was a sunny day despite the sub-zero frosty temperature. We wanted to stroll along Granville Island for a date day. We love to check out the shops, drink coffee and have brunch. The view at Dockside was beautiful and service was prompt. Dockside Butter Lettuce Cobb $ 17: grilled chicken breast, crisp bacon, born 3 egg, baby heirloom tomato, fresh avocado, blue cheese. The Dockside Burger $ 17: hand formed certified angus chuck, onion herb kaiser, smoked bacon, aged white cheddar, house cut fries. This was a bit of a let down. The bun was bone chilling cold. The second attempt at fixing this also failed. They simply slapped the burger and the fried egg together in the oven. The result: over-cooked egg and beef patty. I must say I was quite disappointing. Our server was helpful. She took care of the burger from our bill. Thank goodness. I would have been quite furious otherwise.

The view was pretty and the waiter was both kind and amicable. The atmosphere: freezing but it warmed up by the end of the night literally but not figuratively, sadly. We ordered the squid(typical) crab cakes(average) and prime rib roast to share. The meat was fatty, the Yorkshire pudding flat and the veggies were plenty. It was all just… fine. I suppose if I was looking for a buffet type of prime rib with a taste of «home» then this might be the place to be. The wine(red in this weather) was fine too. At the end of the day, it was disappointing hotel food with expensive prices for location and view and, as bad as I had remembered. Maybe it’s only because my mom makes a killer Yorkshire pudding, or maybe I have had the exact same average squid dish at too many other places(Sodexo, anyone?) but it just wasn’t that great and I probably won’t return. But I am giving it a three, because when visiting Van and when looking for a pretty view without the trek dt, it still is a great place to take guests, even official ones. Interestingly enough, it is still mostly a locals’ place in my books. Upon writing this review, I could not find a single out of town op! GI is lit up for the season now(hardly in comparison to a US port, which is sorta sad but I digress) and parking was easy on a weeknight. The fact that it was free without a ticket in this town was a definite bonus. Just a note– Do be careful that you don’t park in the 24 hour reserved parking(for students, come on, there aren’t that many there on a weeknight, and at the hotel no less).

A buddy of mine was staying in the hotel while visiting on a work trip, so I met him here as I had never tried any of the beers they brew. We went for the lounge as the dining room would have been a bit much for bumpkins like us. As it was, this was the nicest place I had been in for some time. Dockside gets full marks for atmosphere/décor and above average marks for service. Additionally, the food was very good(again, being rubes we had the Dockside burgers with yam fries). We were offered the dining room menu in the lounge which might have been nice if I didn’t have to bug out for hockey later. Where does the place get let down? The reason why I wanted to try it — the beer. First the good about the beer: I like the idea that the flight here was 6x6oz — that’s a proper flight — and they gave us the 7th for free(they were out of the 8th). The bad, however, was that all the beers sort of tasted the same. All had low IBUs and low(er) alcohol levels and all tasted sort of flat. My buddy does home brew and with a couple exceptions(one that tasted like I imagine nail polish would) his beers blew the Dockside Brewery out of the water. I don’t know if it is just no imagination(or lack of ability) on the part of the brewmaster or a directive to take zero chances, but if you are looking for beer — nothing on Granville Island will impress you. Ya. That other place is a bust too. Thumbs up on the food though.

Average food and beer. The food was not served at the right temperature — not warm enough. Our server had a bit of a snobbish attitude. The location and views are wonderful.

What an Amazing Brunch! Amazing service. Was top notch. I had the eggs Benny with spinach and local mushroom, with crispy real potatoes. y husband had the burger was nice size and packed full of flavor lots of fresh toppings and a generous amount of fries. Will defiantly come back. My eggs had shells in them if was fixed promptly, with a lot of apologies and new order was brought ASAP. My husband barely took two bites of his meal. Amazing scenery and service. Outstanding service

Wish I could give it a 3.5, doesn’t deserve 3. Ate here after 2 hours of SUP in false creek. We were slightly underdressed so points to the staff for treating us like we were as well dressed as the rest. Fish and chips was great, portions were HUGE. Amazing cocktails, sangria good(I recommend the white). What was slightly lacking was the service. Too long between seeing our waiter, we would ask for something and it would take twice as long as it should. They were busy and we weren’t in a hurry but for the prices you pay it should have been better. That cocktail though.

Nice place to have breakfast/brunch. Salmon Benedict is my favorite. Nice dockside view and always enjoy the walk in Granville island after the meal.

It was a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. That morning, we had disembarked from our cruise ship from our Alaskan cruise. After some sightseeing, we ended up at Granville Island looking for a bite to eat. We got seated on the patio at our request. The brunch service was over, so we ordered small plates. This included a pizza, sweet potato fries, crab cakes, and spring rolls. All were very good. We also enjoyed their beers which were good. The view was spectacular(as was the weather which I won’t credit the restaurant with, but it helped). Pricy, but I’m a fan.

Best patio in Vancouver! If you want a killer view, this is where you go. Service was a little slow but the food and view made up for it.

Went for Mothers Day brunch and they had a great selection of food, seated us quickly(and they were packed) and great service(Jonathan!) plus the Mimosa’s for $ 4.95 was excellent deal. The live music was a bit of an odd selection(steel guitar Cajun music) but OK. A bit pricey buffet($ 69.95++) for a us because we are vegetarian so always feel I’m paying for meat and oyster eaters so not really fair. Otherwise great time with the mums and the weather was perfect for on the patio dining!

I came here with a big group mostly family for an occasion and have to say was a bit disappointed. The location is great with floor to ceiling windows giving you one of the best views of False Creek and the surrounding neighbourhood. The décor is very ordinary so nothing to drag about. It looks like the place has been recently renovated. The service was great, our server was very polite yet friendly and funny. Upon arrival we were seated in a large round table in the middle of the restaurant with the best view. We started off with a bottle of their featured winery Crush Pad from Okanagan which was tangy and sweet and a great complement to my main dish. I shared the mussels and chicken satay for an appetizer and was a bit let down by the mussels sauce as it was just flavourless. The chicken satay was better but nothing to write home to mom about! For my main I ordered the duck, which again was just ordinary and when the plated were served most of our meals were lukewarm. For desserts we shared tiramisu and crème brûlée, both yummy but then again just ordinary. Overall, this place has one of the best service and views in the city but the food needs a bit of an overhaul!

Great Christmas brunch. A nice substitute for my traditional Sutton Place Christmas brunch. A lot of yummy seafood, salads, assorted cheese, egg bennys, omelette and waffle station and turkey, chicken and prime rib carvings. Food =4.5 star Service= 3 star at best. The staff seem to be trying hard to please but need to know there duty and responsibility as a server. I should not have to ask for my empty plate to be cleared. A good attentive server should recognize that my beverage is near empty and offer me another drink. Especially when they are charging for drinks(at a buffet brunch … Odd). And one tip; when one asks for coffee with cream and sugar, ensure u being a spoon. I’m not going to stir my coffee with my finger. Also the bill … A party of 3 was $ 270. The gratuity is automatically add at 18%. Not cool since the service was mediocre. Overall a decent visit.

Went down to Granville Island to let my son play on the bouncey castles at False Creek Community Centre, and when he was all played out we decided we should grab a brunch right there on the island. Right nextdoor is the Dockside restaurant, and thank goodness it was. When we went in, they were hosting a beautiful wedding reception(congrats Fayaz and Nabil) across the hall from the main restaurant, but it didn’t affect service or noise level at all. Once seated near the bar, there was a piano player playing nice brunch music for us, which was awesome. everyone at the table except my 3 year old ordered the classic eggs benedict. It was served with house made hollandaise sauce, which was absolutely to die for, the best hollandaise I have ever had, hands down. I think butter really does make it better. The side was potatoes with this amazing chilli sauce, that had so much flavour, I couldn’t believe it wasn’t spicy. I stole French fries off of my son’s grilled cheese when I was done to mop up my plate to make sure to not leave any sauce behind. The prices are a little higher than we pay in Edmonton, but for the heart of Granville Island for a high class brunch with live music, you get what you pay for; that is 5 stars. I would love to go back next time I am in Vancouver, and suggest you try it out yourself.

Came here for brunch with a few friends. We sat out on the patio which was good as it was a hot sunny day. The hostess was friendly and quick. The server was also quick to get our order and drinks. The coffee was a little bland and watered down. We had ordered a squid appetizer which was really good. Had a little spice to it to give it a kick, but not so much to ruin your palette. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict which was ok. The salmon was flavorful and I really like it, the only reason it was OK was because the egg was overcooked and the sauce was extremely creamy. The yolk was not runny at all, it was a orange ball. My friend’s egg Benedict was better as the egg was done perfectly. My other friend had to get a new fork twice as the first two had old crusty food particles. IMO, the servers should look at the utensils first to make sure they are clean, before bringing them to the customers. This place is a little higher end so one would expect it. My seat was missing utensils so I asked for some when the server took my order. I had to ask for utensils again, even after the food came. The view was great as you can see all the boats, false creek, etc. Even on a cloudy day, the view would still be good. I would have given it 4 stars but because of the utensil issue, it dropped to three stars.

Dockside is launching new à la carte and group dining menus just in time for spring and sunny weather. Executive Chef Simon James McNeil has developed a series of new, locally sourced dishes and entrées in house. Immediately appealing, the watermelon cream soda float(with a macaron on top) was delicious, fruity, smooth, and full of flavour. Bringing summer flavours, the albacore tuna poke(with sesame, soy, ginger, and avocado on chilli lime taro chips) was a delightfully simple starter. I really enjoyed their take on the shaved prime rib beef dip(balsamic onions, arugula, and blue cheese aioli on a garlic toasted baguette) full of filling goodness with jalapeño peppers for good measure. A mixture of tastes, the seared scallop with quinoa and mango was intriguing in its composition of flavours. A definite standout was the grilled beef tenderloin served on some rich and creamy macaroni and cheese with its well-cooked, comforting nature. The albacore tuna togarashi was a straightforwardly satisfying enough canapé with a light touch. Their lemon meringue tart with raspberry was a definite highlight with a delectably sweet taste. Dockside’s upcoming new spring menu hopes to fit nicely in any setting in the sun.
