I came to Disney on ice for a few kids that I nannied for. I am not ashamed to admit that I actually had a decent time. The inner Disney kid in me came out. It was cute seeing how the parents dressed their kids in costume and how enchanted they were with the characters on stage. Myself I had a tough time getting one of the twins in their Peter Pan outfit. It’s not an adult show but I can see why some adults kinda got into it. Souvenirs were a rip off and it didn’t help to have a kid who cried ’cause they didn’t get a magical wand. Prices were surprisingly decent, there were multiple shows such as the day time show which made it easier for both parties involved.

I will admit, it was entertaining. Never seen this show before, and as an adult watching this, it was OK. Lots of colourful costumes by the performers and lots of themes. Halloween, Christmas, as well as some of the Disney themed animations, such as Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Pinocchio, etc. Towards the end they did the Princess looking for and finding her Handsome Prince theme, a cringe worthy feminist nightmare, but I digress. A good portion of the girls attending were all dressed up in princess costumes. One thing I didn’t like: patrons are totally at the mercy of the Disney marketing(money making) machine. The various toys and gizmos are astronomically expensive, $ 25. A simple bag of popcorn or cotton candy, $ 15. Why $ 15? Because they purposely attach Disney mouse ears to it and that spikes the price exponentially. Outch! Aside from that, the kids enjoyed it. It was quite the show to see, and pyrotechnics involved too!

This was my first time attending the Disney on Ice show and of course, I was super duper excited! I’ve been hearing about this show coming to Vancouver, I believe, 3 or 4 months ago, but thought nah, it’s just a show since I’ll be going to Disneyland this Christmas… I’ll might as well save my hype when I go to Disneyland. SONOT true! I did end up going to this show and let me tell you, it hyped me up even more about going to Disneyland! Seeing the kids dressed in their princess costumes and running towards the coliseum, I scurried with the BF as if I were a part of them. The first thing that caught my eye was the Mickey Mouse ears(but I told myself I’ll get my very first pair of ears at Disneyland). Everything was so colorful and as kids even for adults, it was just so distracting. So many things to see but wanted to make sure that I stop by the washroom and head to our seats before our show started in 15 minutes. I headed to the women’s washroom and found urinals in them which was odd! I thought I went into the wrong washroom but nope, it happened to have urinals. Probably the washrooms used to be for men. I came out of the washroom and saw my BF eyeing on popcorn like kids eyeing on candy. A small rectangular box of popcorn was for $ 8 while a bucket of popcorn was for $ 12 but you could refill(we only found that out after midway through the show so we bought it then). He was so much more excited about popcorn than he was about the show. Hehe. The show was spectacular! The princesses and princes did their gig while there were things(i.e. brooms, webs, chinese fans with lights) that came down from the ceiling as props were added to their performance. I knew all the Disney characters and their songs… OH and even that song from the Enchanted movie«That’s How You Know?» When the music in the background started playing the bongo drums, I wanted to get up and start dancing. I was just THAT excited! At one point, the BF asked, «How do you know all the songs?» Well, if you’ve always been wanting to go to Disneyland as a kid but have never gone, you’ll probably have the closest thing you’ll get is to know the lyrics to their songs or visit the store each time you see the store(i.e. at Metrotown in Burnaby, in New York, Rome). The show had different holidays to celebrate; however, they didn’t do ALL the holidays as I was expecting. They only did Hallowe’en, Valentine’s Day, Birthday, Christmas, Summer Vacation on the beach, in China and in Japan(I don’t think I missed out on anything). I’m so glad I ended up getting tickets to go see this show! Now, I’m really hyped for Disneyland. Yipeeee!
