Cocoa Tanning Studio – Yaletown

First time for a spray tan, was quite nervous about results but staff were amazing and talked me through every step! Thanks Nicola, will be back!

Cocoa Tanning’s customer service is outstanding. I feel welcome every time AND the staff remember who I am even though I only come a few times a month at most. I am a fair-​skinned red-​head and for the first time in my life I have learned how to tan because the staff actually took the time to walk me through the best steps to tanning for my type of skin. I’ve tried the all the tanning beds and the Versa Spa spray tan — both great! I am so comfortable with Cocoa that I think I’ll try out other services I’ve never considered before, like lash extensions. I trust the staff completely. They know what they are talking about.

Facility is bright and clean, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
I bought a Groupon for the teeth whitening ($ 70 for 60 mins) and I don’t really notice any difference. Honestly, save your money on this option.

Why would you hire such snotty people in your store? Being made to wait while your staff argues on the phone and chews her disgusting fake nails. This is new staff and she calls herself a manager. Get this Snooki lookalike outta there and hire better management.

Cocoa Tanning is a beautiful facility with clean, contemporary décor and feels very bright and spacious. The rooms are finished well and I am a huge fan of their platinum stand-​up! I think that’s the one in Room #2. I’ve only used it once, though, as it broke down at some point inbetween my visits during the week. I hope it’s up and running for my 3^rd session!
I would love to return to Cocoa but I only plan to tan 1x per week so a monthly membership does not work for me. I am not a fan of $ –to– point system –to– minutes. My drop-​in using points would work out to be quite expensive, roughly $ 15 per tan.
Hours of operation are tricky for me. I typically tan on Sundays but they do not open until 12pm. Weekday evenings are tough unless I finish work early. There are no early AM openings.
No reservations here either.

I used specifially their infrared sauna for a long time. I can’t tell you anything about their tanning beds. Never used them. Nice clean facilities. The supplies are plentiful, the sauna is good. Prices are fine compared to other places. I had a minor complaint due to some poor service over the phone once, but that was only once, and the manager followed up with me to apologize and give me a credit.
Here’s the major issue I had that made me stop going. After going several times, I finally decided to purchase a package to get a good deal. In the end, I felt pretty ripped off. I had several sessions thru the package at first. Then did not go for a while. The last time I went in for a session, I expected to not have to pay seeing as I did not use up all the sessions in my package yet. Then I was told my package expired. So basically I paid over a hundred bucks for just a few sessions. I was only away for a few months, so I don’t know why they have to have a stupid expiration date, seeing that I prepaid a big amount for what I expect to be at least 10 sessions total. I feel pretty ripped off by that, so although the place is excellent other than that, they unfortunately are going to lose my business.

After doing some research about tanning salons in Vancouver, I came across Cocoa tanning and ended up getting the Spray tan. I was always skeptical about spray tans because I was scared it wouldn’t be even or that I would be orange, but I could not have been more pleased with my experience. Kerri did an amazing job explaining the tanning machine process and after care And she made me feel totally comfortable. My spray tan is so even and very natural looking. I have received many compliments and it is now 4 full days later and I still have a glowing golden tan. Will definately be a repeat customer!

I used the spray tan booth and was really impressed with the colour it left as well as the time the spray tan lasted (just as promised).
The staff were very friendly and the instructions given were very clear (this was my first time). My initial concerns about the product being sticky were inaccurate, it goes on smooth and dries before leaving the booth. The booth was also VERY clean and hygienic.

I just use the infared sauna here, but I love the salon in general. It’s very bright, clean and spacious and the staff are all very friendly.
The sauna itself is quite small, what I would imagine a personal sauna for home would be like. However, despite its size, it works very well. It even has lights installed for «colour therapy». Not sure how effective this is, but it’s nice to have when I’m reading a book or magazine.
I was fortunate enough to get a Groupon for the sauna, so I can’t really comment on their prices, but the service and quality of the salon are definitely worth going back for.
