This place is known for their crispy chicken dishes as well as a large menu if you are looking for variety. I have to say that over the couple of years visiting this place I think they must have changed chefs as the food quality has slipped. I used to think they were one of the better Taiwanese noodle joints but no more. Their sister restaurant in Burnaby, No. 1 Beef Noodle House, is much better and is still one of my favourites. Overall, you can’t go wrong coming here. Decent service, food and drinks. It’s just too bad it’s slipped down my rankings of similar places.

Needed to find a place close by that served intestines where we wouldn’t have to try the same restaurant again. So here we are. I enjoyed the beef noodle soup here(and their appetizer pork intestines & tofu) more than Wang’s cuz it didn’t seem nearly as oily. Food came fast, service was great and there was parking!

Beefy Beef is located in a tiny plaza on the corner of King Ed and Main, serving Taiwanese noodle soups, bubble tea, and delicious appetizers. Most of the reviews talk about late night, so here’s a review about a late-lunch meal we had there. We ordered three appetizers, and everyone(group of four plus a baby) also had a noodle soup. The appetizers were very good. The chicken nuggets were crispy, the squid tentacles could have perhaps been chopped smaller but were still tasty, and the beef stomach was well-seasoned. On the contrary, my noodle soup was solid, but not fantastic. The noodles were too chewy, the meat nothing to write home about, and the broth was salty but not something you’d crave. The«spicy» soup is misnomer if you actually like spicy food(i.e., it’s not spicy at all). The service was also noticeably poor. We went in the late afternoon, during that killing-time portion of a wedding day between the ceremony and the banquet, and were one of the few tables there. And yet, we waited a long time to flag down the server for the bill, even though we could clearly see her standing there. Her back was turned, facing away from us, doing the obviously very important task of making sure all of their chopsticks in a bucket were turned the right way. I’m not a big stickler for good service at Chinese places, but this was pretty funny. Eventually had to go up and pay ourselves. This place is a classic ‘tweener. Not quite good enough for a 4-star rev
