I have been going to Beauty Worx for a few years now for waxing services. I transferred over to stay with Nina. The space is not amazing looking but Nina is so friendly and makes the experience enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Nina and their Tuesday specials for waxing!

So, the only word that can best describe my experience is: terrible! I was in urgent need of a haircut so decided to go to Beauty Worx because it is conveniently close to my workplace. They did take me in without an appointment but I had a very bad feeling since the beginning. I showed several pictures(from front, back and sides) of what I wanted and I immediately got attitude and pushback from the stylist«Frank». He then proceeded to wash my hair and he didn’t even gave me something like a robe to protect my clothes so of course I got wet from the splashing water, but the absolute worst was having his arm hair all over my face as he roughly washed my hair. The haircut ended up a disaster, I asked for a modern haircut that would keep my length: he cut way too much and I ended up looking like a 90’s Rachel Green! To add insult to injury the total for this horrible experience was 55+tax!!! I almost fell to my knees as I know that this is what I would have paid at a high end salon! Ok, so lesson learned, now I’ll just have to wait for my hair to grow back and trust me I will never step foot at this place ever again! Hopefully I can save someone else from having a horrible experience too.

I had a good experience with my mani pedi. The technician was really friendly and professional. The place was clean. My nails look great! The location is quite accessible and comparable to other salons in the area

I bought two Social Shopper coupons for this place because of its convenient location to my office. I walked up there one day to book an appointment for early December. They told me that they don’t have their December bookings yet. So I told them, if I’m the first to book an appointment in December than my appointment should be confirmed. They said, «well we’ll see. We can’t guarantee you anything.» How can you not guarantee me a booking in December if no one else is booked?!? If this is what the booking process is like, I’m a little scared to even book an appointment.

This place is new. I bought a Social Shopper coupon for $ 25 for both manicure and pedicure. As I walked into the salon, I saw someone handing out flyers for other services, so you might get some deals. I walked in on time for my appointment, & was led to my station right away. The salon felt really cramped. The working area was maybe 600 – 700 sq ft, but it had the reception area, hair cutting, a private waxing/facial/massage room, and then in the very back were hair washing and nails area. My esthetician, Naomi, asked me to choose some colour while she warmed up the foot soak. Their colour selection was so limited. There were about 30 different colours, but a lot of them were blue, green, and quite a few different shades of purple. I wanted a soft nude, or pale pink for my hands, or just something professional looking. There really wasn’t a bottle available fitting my needs. Naomi tried to persuade me to use this clear shade, but it has all these iridescent reflective hues and shimmers. No, thank you. I chose a reddish purple for the toes, and a muted purple for the hands. It was the most natural looking nude shade I could find for my hands. I tried it on, & it was ok. Naomi didn’t like the colour, told me she had used the colour on some other clients & they didn’t turn out nice. Well… I had no choice. I stuck to my guns. Everything was all well, until the owner paid an impromptu visit & brought two former employees of his. I think the owner used to own a salon somewhere else, and he promoted these two ladies as his best employees from once upon a time. The ladies chatted with Naomi while she was doing my feet. They asked her how many hours Naomi got while working at Beauty Worx. Naomi also told them that starting from October, she will be doing waxing only, as that was what she wanted to do and what she was hired to do. The other ladies told her that they did everything, from haircuts to nails and everything else. Naomi in turn made a point of saying that she didn’t want to do nails, or in another sense, didn’t like doing nails, & couldn’t wait til she’s doing waxing. This conversation was all happening in the cramped little area in the back area of the salon, while she was doing my nails. Very unprofessional. Then the receptionist came to check with Naomi on whether she could do a walk-in. A lady who wanted a manicure with no polish. This was 2:10pm. Naomi had barely started on my hands after finishing my feet. Naomi looked at her watch & said she can, but it would be at least another 10 – 15 mins until she was done with me. The receptionist said the walk-in had an appointment at 2:30 around the corner. So if you do the math, there would be no time for the walk-in. Instead, Naomi reluctantly agreed, & the receptionist went out and announced to the walk-in, that Naomi would be with her in 10mins! What happened to the 15mins? 5 mins later, the receptionist came in again & asked if Naomi could do another appointment at 3:30pm. Naomi told her not a problem. The receptionist’s job is to book appointments, independently? No? Now, it was my nail colour time, and Naomi suggested I just do base coat and top coat, and ditch that nude purple thing I chose. I knew she was working the angles, as it will save her time to squeeze in the next appointment, and also if she was true to her words, the colour might not turn out nice. I agreed to her suggestion, and she said, «I just don’t think you will like that colour. And with just the top coat and base coat, they will last you a lot longer. If you do the colour, it will start to come off in a day or two.» WHAT? I’m not a manicure maniac, but I’ve been to places that the colour lasted well into the 5th or 6th day on my hands. After my hands were done, I looked at my new shiny clear nails & noticed a short thread embedded in the varnish of one of my finger nails. I brought it to Naomi’s attention, & she told me that was a stain in my nail. WHAT? I don’t have a stain like that before I walked into the door. It was smack in the middle of my finger nail, any owner of that finger would have noticed. She said that it was there before, & she tried to get it off but couldn’t. Again, WHAT? I held the finger close to my eye, & I could see tiny little blue threads branching out of the main thread. She used a cuticle stick & gave it an attempt to removed it, & of course the thread came out. She fixed it, as the walk-in came in right away & thanked Naomi for squeezing her in. I wasn’t given any fans to dry off my finger nails nor did I see any, so I just sat on the edge of my chair, fanned my nails to myself. I liked Naomi overall, except for the points I mentioned. I did feel she was rushed, because she & the receptionist wanted to squeeze another client in. I didn’t feel like it was a professional establishment, including the owner. No tip and will not return, ever. PS. A nice little chunk of the polish came off from the middle of my thumb on the first night.
