I used to come here for lunch because they’re close to work and they’re relatively well-run operation. It’s a Korean owned place, so you’ll see stuff like Jap Chae and Bulgogi on the menu too. The food is nothing special. Relatively decent sushi for relatively«cheap» in this part of downtown, but it’s unpleasantly packed at lunchtime. Tables and chairs are cramped and because it’s self-serve, the whole experience of getting a table, getting into the lineup, getting yourself tea/water and bussing your own tray turns the whole place into a clusterfust. I’ve stopped going since they recently raised their prices. I’d rather walk a few blocks further to get the same quality/if not better sushi at cheaper prices and in a less chaotic environment.

1 star for atmosphere 4 stars for quality Two thingsI want to suggest it to lower the volume of the music & the lighting. It was way too loud and bright. It actually hurt my eyes. But the food was good :)

Korean owned restaurant so it’s a bit of a Japanese Korean fusion. Everything is self service too! The menu is a bit excessive so I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. Everything looked good!!! I opted for the sashimi bento(comes with dumplings, fried goods and miso soup; make sure you ask for ginger though) and the bulgogi and kimchee udon… Yum!!! Food comes out quick too!

I ordered combo D and miso soup. I tipped, then I realized this place is self serve. The tuna roll wraps opened up. The hokkigai was very dried up. The raw squid was very fishy. The fish were ok. The egg nigiri was quite oily. If you are a nigiri lover, you will regret coming here.

Tuna tataki without it’s trademarked sauce? Not cool. Everything else was great. Great fresh, perfectly cut nigiris. Great boxes too. Little too crowded and unconfortable for lunch.

Super worth it for a quick lunch. Sometimes the line is long to order but the food IS as express as they say it is. We arrived with a group of 6 and were fed within a half hour! Best part is you don’t wait for the bill to leave. My meal was 13 $(there’s a picture) and so good. Everyone else said theirs was great too!

I stopped in and the place was packed(good sign). The rolls were quite good. The dynamite roll was very tasty but still had a portion of the shell in the tempura when it looked to be de-tailed(which I surprisingly found in my mouth). However, the sushi is Oceanwise which was the main reason I went in and they also support Vicinity points, which is nice. The service was also astonishingly fast. After ordering, I had six rolls served in about 2 minutes. All in all, I would highly recommend and would definitely eat there again.

This place is fast and fresh. Great for lunch or any quick meal. It gets pretty busy during work days, but the line moves quick. Also you can order online.

3.5+ stars for this Korean sushi fast casual restaurant that delivers great value. Was looking for a sushi spot that delivered some solid cooled entrees for the kids and Bay does the job. I’ve definitely had better sushi but I would come here often if I worked or lived nearby. In our case, we were visiting on vacation.

After frequenting Bay Sushi for the past 6 years on a regular basis, I can only recommend it. If it was perfect I would give 5 stars and it is not that good. But for lunches it mostly delivers and is better then most eateries. Service is even on very crowded days fast, the food is tasty and of good quality and the prices are average. Favourite dishes have to be the Sushi Sashimi Bento and Spicy Chirashi Don.

This place is always packed being a central location. Most of the items are expensive, however, stuck with the avocado and cucumber roll which both combined was under $ 10. Lots of room, fast customer service. I like sitting at the bar near the kitchen. I get a kick out of watching sushi chefs put rolls together. It’s like watching the Food Network… but live. Great for casual get togethers with friends and in the evening it’s a great spot for a date. Best to go during off peak times like 11 am(before lunch) and 4 pm(before dinner).

In summary Price Up and Quality+Quantity Down. Like any other downtown sushi eateries, this place also gotten expensive and sushi rolls gotten smaller. It is bit sad to see one of my favourite downtown Sushi places are on wrong path. California and Dynamite rolls are quite small compared to couple of years go. Anyway, they are still providing all you can drink green tea. Great selection various type of Japanese food offerings. Location can be busy at times.

Busy restaurant during lunch. It’s better to go early to find seats for dining in or else get a takeout instead. Pretty good Sushi for the value.

The sushi sashimi combo was a good serving and tasted great. They had no problem substituting the shrimp for another fish(shellfish allergy). The tables were kind of dirty. Napkins are only available from the cashiers. The cups for water were really small so I had to make frequent trips to refill. I would go again for quick sushi by myself. I wouldn’t take someone here for dinner. Felt like a cafeteria.

Best quality for excellent price! Service here is quick and it gets super busy for weekday lunch so be sure to get in early. They will swap out regular salmon for sockeye if you ask no charge! Help yourself to the complimentary green tea at the serve yourself station. Try the lunch combos as they will be accommodating if you would like substitution. Closed on Sunday’s! They will deliver if you live close by. Best downtown sushi!

I come here everyday for lunch. That says quite a bit for me. The kitchen gives generous GENEROUS portions and it’s great value for a lunch. This place is how I manage to keep my lunches always under 10 dollars, yet still manage to get amazing food. I liked this place so much I called over my fiancé all the way from Surrey to try it. He’s someone who only is satisfied with Keg like portions, but he absolutely loved this place.

wanted something healthier for lunch so opted for Japanese. Pricey but above average in terms of taste and quality. They were busy when I went for lunch but a quick turnaround time considering the traffic. They assign you a number so they can easily call it out to you when your food is ready. They have the option to do brown rice that’s always a win for me. I’m looking forward to trying out more things here in the future

Located on Seymour across from The Bay, it is a pretty popular place among people who work in the area. The food is okay here. Nothing stood out as exceptional but we did only try few items. The prices are decent compared to some of the other places in the vicinity. We got assorted sashimi, salmon sashimi and couple salmon maki rolls. The salmon in the sashimi is not wild; all the sashimi is sliced very thin. The place isn’t very big so if you come during the lunch hour, expect to wait or go somewhere else. You go up to the counter to order and get a number. When your order is up, they will call out your number and then you go up to the counter to pick up. Water is self service as well. I wish they had a proper menu to look at; their menu is spread out over couple walls and it can get little confusing especially is you don’t know what you want.

This place does well. It’s always busy and lunches are ridic in wait time. I won’t go for weekday lunches anymore because by the time I get through the lineup to get my food, I have to rush back to the office and eat before my racist workmates say something nasty about my beloved bulgogi and kimchi. Leave my shit alone office bitches!!! Ok back to this place. I love it. The menu is big, literally cuz it’s on the walls. Plenty of choices between Japanese and Korean dishes. Food is flavourful. Service is order at the counter and pick it up yourself when your number is called out. Which brings me to the staff… Very friendly. Cute too. But. Always a but. The women speak softly so when they call out the number, more than ½ of the time no one picks up because they can’t be heard. I want them to YELLOUT«I tell you 6 or 5 times, all you are belong to us. 15!!! GETURFOODS!!!» I have no complaints about this place except one. They need a sturdier takeout box. The cheap, brown recycled shit doesn’t work. When I opened my leftovers for dinner, the juices had soaked up into the container and almost took a shit in the plastic bag like it was a broken paper diaper. If they’re reading this: love you guys. Please don’t hate me. Too much.

Great place to grab lunch from. I don’t live in Vancouver but if I’m visiting I try to stop in here. My tip is that they have their own App, great for skipping the line at lunchtimes or ordering for home delivery. I have added the link to the iPhone App below for anyone wanting try it out.:
