Angus One Professional Recruitment and Templine

I’m writing a review on this agency based on an experience I had with them a few years ago, but it left a really sour taste in my mouth, the kind that made me instantly cringe when a «recruiter» from this agency contacted me on a popular business social media site.
On my way up in the elevator of this downtown agency, I was shocked and disgusted to hear the way the recruiters, who didnt know i was a candidate, spoke about the interviews and meetings they had had that day with candidates. The male of the group laughed and said «some of them are just so pathetic». I won’t even repeat the other statements he made.
When we got out of the elevator it was clear that they were aware of the rudness they had displayed to me, a candidate, walking into their office. I don’t even know why I stayed, I felt so gross being in there. I wish I had said something about what I had overhead in the elevator and then left, but I was young, looking for a job, and vulnerable, which is pobably why this company is still in business, there will always be people in the situation I was in back then.
The person I met with barely spent 5 minutes with me, which is totally indicative of the careless way in which all their employees seem to behave. I totally wasted my time, and I didn’t heard from them again until someone reached out to me about how they could help me in my «carreer». As if they were actually in this to help ME!
There are better agencies. Adecco comes to mind. Don’t waste your time, don’t give these people your attention, your information, or your dignity. There are too many other places to choose from that will treat you with respect.

Do not make the mistake of going to this agency!
They had me sign a contract with them even before I had my interview with my recruiter agent. During my interview the recruiter didn’t even know what company it was that he wanted me to work for, so he had to call me later with the name of the organization. I ended up working at the company but for the first 60 days your on probation with Angus one, who pays you. My company asked me to sign a contract with them directly rather then go through Angus one, so the company could just pay Angus ones charge of $ 5,200. Angus one then informed my employer that it would cost $ 8,200 to sign me directly. I don’t understand why it would cost more for doing less work? The recruiter ‘Roland’ was impossible to get ahold of, even when I walked into Angus one to speak with him he wouldn’t see me. Angus one had me fill out time sheets for them online, where they under paid me. I was disgusted by this company. I know of a friend who works at another recruiting agency, and unfortunately he says Angus One gives recruiting agencies in B. C a bad reputation.

I have only been with them a month and have already received several assignments. Interview and qualifying tests went smoothly, all conducted by friendly faces. My impression was very positive and I felt I would be taken care of.
The only thing is you have to be on alert when they call. Sometimes a job can be snatched up between the time they leave a message and by the time you phone them back.
I have not experienced any of the negative situations in some other reviews. I find it hard to believe Angus deliberately lies or «tricks» people regarding job postings; I think if you treat them with respect they will do the same to you.
*UPDATE: There was a mix-​up and a posting I thought I had was given away to someone else. This is the only negative experience.

Angus one seems very polite and friendly, but they will lie to your face about getting you a job and then cancel it — I’m guessing that they’ve picked someone else for it already and I was the backup.
Another time, they asked me to come in for an interview for a clerical job. The recruitment agent then proceeded to pretend that job did not exist and tried to talk me into a sales job.

My experience with Angus One is very positive. I walked in and was cordially greeted by the receptionist and the process flowed. I was already full time employed looking for better options. Karen (permanent division) understood immediately. The interview went well and I was placed very soon after with a great vibrant and expanding firm.
I would rate Angus One’s professionalism highly. The recruiter whom I worked with (Karen) was always prompt, efficient, experienced and knowledgeable. I never felt left out in the dark or worried about my status in the whole process.
I think if anyone is wanting to find a career or a job, you’ll have to be quite specific in what you expect and what you want, and be able to reflect the appropriate skills (or even higher skills and education), personality and of course, dress and conduct yourself professionally. It’s competitive out there. Don’t be discouraged. Keep applying and keep your spirits up.

They’ve been around a long time, and they offer both permanent and temporary jobs.
A good overall firm with no real specialty, compared to others which I won’t reveal ;)

Back in the day I had a horrible experience, actually a few with recruitment agencies but this one takes the cake. I always see their ads on craiglist with the heading, «our client.» Please… who are you fooling. The advertise for jobs on behalf of their clients, however, the jobs do not exist or you go in and it is for a totally different position than what is advertised for. They use your resume to keep on file and «bank.» This has happened on a few occasions when I’ve been job hunting before really establishing my career ground. I had to do a very time consuming test.

I have a business based in the United States and was looking for help in hiring personnel in both Calgary and Vancouver. I met with Angus One to interview the firm before I engaged their services. They were very professional and engaging, and once they received the assignment they went BEYOND the call of duty to help us fill our positions.
They are an exceptional organization, going way beyond what was required of them. They turned their offices into home away from home for our organization, doing everything possible to make things turn out perfectly.
They are not a branch of a national organization, which to me is a huge plus. They know what it takes to get it done, and they do it ON TIME, and right the very first time.

Without the kind and helpful people at Angus One I would never have gotten the position I have now. Janice met with me and brainstormed what positions my resume might help me get. The free tutorials were invaluable to me. My very first office admin assignment turned into a very long-​term one, then the client company offered me a full-​time, salaried position! Angus One has great leads and is very supportive of their employees. If you’re new in town or needing to break into the field, Angus One will help.

I sent my resume to Angus One in the hopes that they might find me a few days of work over the summer. Within three days, I had begun a contract at a fantastic company that lasted for over 8 weeks. During the time I was temping, Angus One continued to send me permanent job opportunities and they even spoke with my supervisors to arrange interview times for me. If you’re looking for a job and finding it difficult, Angus One can definitely make your life easier — and it definitely doesn’t hurt to earn some money while you search!

Very bad experience with this agency

It’s been two years and I have already gotten a job on my own. These people never bothered to call or mail me back.
Don’t go there. If I had waited for them, I would have never found anything at all.

I saw an amazing posting online and applied for it through Angus One (permanent division). Karen was friendly, bubbly, and a joy to work with from day one. She met with me very soon after I applied and we had a great meeting; she made me feel very comfortable, relaxed, and completely at home. She was amazingly helpful, and supportive, and with me every step of the way as I interviewed for the job. I have never had such amazing support from a recruitment agent, and I really can’t recommend her enough! After a total of three interviews, I was cautiously excited, and Karen called me immediately as soon as she had any information after each interview — making me feel at ease, and giving me tips and recommendations for the next interview round. I just found out I got the job, and I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t have done it without Karen, she was a complete star! And what’s more, she said she’ll call to see how I’m doing every so often, even now I have the job. Seriously, I had the best experience :)

When I first signed up with Angus and met with one of their staff, it seemed promising. I was given a contact info for a perm. recruiter whom I sent my resume to and set up a time to meet with them — never heard from them or got any response from them!
Second time I went in for an interview and both were good but after when they said they’ll call me for other positions they never did, even though I followed up with them and told them I’m available for work. I had to send a complaint email to see some changes made as they have poor customer service. Even after that, nothing positive came out of that.
For a Vancouver agency, I would say stay away and don’t waste your time signing up with them. There are a lot of better agencies out there! If you want more info regarding my experience, don’t hesitate to contact me on here — thanks! :)

Best words to describe this place? Useless liars. After applying to various jobs and being told «we’ve just filled it today», it became clear that they don’t actually have many (if any) positions for clients. I’ve taken their stupid «tests» 3 times now and have had all of my calls and emails ignored. Don’t waste your time with this place.

One of my friends got a decent 6-​month temp admin assignment thru Angus One and suggested I apply for work with them after I was laid off. I attended an open house, met a pleasant recruiter, and she told be that because of my past experience she would definitely have me working in reception and admin assistant jobs soon. I have a BSc and college diplomas in office administration and desktop publishing.
For about three months I was somewhat busy, mainly in 1 or 2-​day assignments. As a temp I found I wasn’t treated that nicely by the offices I was in, maybe because most figured that since I was there for such a short time they didn’t have to smile or chat with me. It was also stressful to get thrown into so many temp jobs where the training is nil or where you’re doing mindnumbing things like removing staples. The pay isn’t great either. I got a month long exec assistant job similar to one I had held almost 5 years ago and as a temp got paid about $ 10/​hour, much less than my «real» job. After that exec asst. job ended, Angus One stopped calling me and the recruiter always told me she’d keep me in mind if future temp jobs opened up, when I called to check in, and nothing did. But then I’d see all these ads for positions I knew I was qualified for on the Angus One website and that Employment Paper.

That last review was obviously written by someone who works for the company. I went for one interview at angus one and was told that when I went for interviews that I would have to «wear my best heels, my best makeup, and my best hair. This was after I was looked up and down. I felt that I was being sent to beauty contest auditions and not professional job interviews. Just give this place a pass.

I write this review from my experiences with this agency about a year and a half ago. I was very displeased with the service I received from Angus one because they were very slow to respond to my inquiries and really didn’t have any jobs to offer. I have heard from friends and co-​workers that they are notorious for being slow and unprofessional as well.

After going through the process with a few agencies, Angus One was a ray of hope in a cruddy job market.
When I spoke to my recruiter instead of asking the prescribed questions, before even checking over my resume, she talked to me. Yes, like a human being. After a pleasant chat about my work history and goals she had a temp job for me the very next day. 9am. Wham, bam, this chick is getting paid again!
I had one dedicated agent who was always pleasant and available. She read me and the kind of environment I enjoy and can work in perfectly. She always returned my calls and e-​mails. When I had to leave only a few days into an assignment to pursue another job (a great one that I found on my own) our farewell was short, sweet, and guilt free. If I am ever in need of temp gigs again, I would go back for sure.

I went through Angus One/​Templine for a few assignments when I was temping, and they were a good agency to work with. They’re a locally owned agency, and not an outpost of a big conglomerate, so that was a plus right there.
When signing up with them, I appreciated that they let me bring in my test results from the typing and software tests I had done at another agency, rather than forcing me to take the tests all over again. That certainly saved some time; as anyone who has signed on for temping can tell you, that s%$# is time-​consuming and tedious!
The assignments they got me were good, but not great paying. However, when I did need to get out an assignment to take a higher-​paying one with another agency, they were good enough not to guilt me about it.
However, I did not have a dedicated contact at the firm, so it always felt as though I was talking to a different person, and sometimes multiple people, with each assignment. When you’re out there floating in tempworld, you appreciate having some constancy with your agency.
