Al Halal Meat & Seafood

Probably the only Halal deli in east van.
Anyways, poked my head in to see they’ve got quite the selection from all over: Abbotsford, even Montréal.
And goat if you are daring.
Just if you are curious, Ali is nice to let you try if you ask nicely.

Meat shops always freak me out a little bit. Especially when you walk in and all the cool fridges where meats are usually packaged and displayed are empty.
Shelves are stocked with lots of sauces, random packages of stuff for cooking with meat, some candy, signs with prices but no products… what do they REALLY sell here?
Benefit of the doubt, I ask if they have lean ground beef. She says yes and gets up to the back, I hear some machines going and a couple minutes later she’s back out with a package of lean ground beef. She says because sometimes its so slow, they cant prepare everything cause it would just be a waste if noone buys it. Makes sense right?
The ground beef was great, probably a lot cheaper then going to Safeway and probably a lot fresher. It also supports the local shops maybe if I continue going the fear of butcher shops will decrease…
