A+ service but D– food… This place is just OK if you’re looking for a convenient, cheap place to drink. I don’t recommend getting anything to eat from here. 98% positive it’s all microwaved frozen foods.

Old time service… no talk of the weather, no dithering… excellent decent food and the place is as old as Jesus with a ton of history attached to it. May it live on forever and not be replaced with a condo.

Getting my Canada on here. My co-worker(a local) suggested this place a a staple in the community. Mostly because she live across the street for a number of years. We went for half price wing night. The wings were solid. They let me pick the beer pitchers. I ordered all the Canadian stuff and a new one every time. It was a good night getting to know some new friends.

food was fine. they had a game on and we had to leave earlier than had intended because it was too loud to talk. if there had been 100 people in the bar then it might have needed to have the extreme volume but since it was dead, there was no need. probably will be back, because its right next door but not if it was a ten minute walk away.

Been coming here for years and its always the same great service we receive. They have wings night from sunday — tuesday after 5 with a purchase of a drink. We got spicy, bbq and honey garlic wings and they are always as good as the last time i remember. The server we had was hilarious and made the night even better and the blue jays won! Will definitely be back here again.

I’ve had the wings here before and they are very good. I take them cooked«well done» and have always been happy. It’s got a fun laid back vibe, they have been able to avoid the local hipsters pretty well. I took my daughter for the«Buffalo fingers» on a Sunday as the wind deals don’t start I’ll 5:00. We watched some tennis on the tvs and the air show from the patio. Great way to spend a easy Sunday afternoon.

Before we went to the Toronto Argos football game, we met at the Wheat Sheaf(King Street W/Bathurst), which is one of Toronto’s oldest pubs(it opened around 1850), for supper. I ordered what I always get there … wings with medium sauce. They were good. It was fun to hang there before the game.

GREAT wings, meh service. But worth the historical visit! «Wing night» is 3 days per week, I think, so you can’t go wrong with ½ price excellent wings on any given day. We sat on the patio and it was very late at night, so I can’t speak to the indoor service(although, more patrons were sitting on the patio, perhaps because of the nice weather). Not much else to say… we did not order alcohol, so no tips from me this time on libation selection, price, temperature(all the important ingredients!) I do wish Wheat Sheaf would restore its historical glory. It seems to have fallen into a dry spell… Do check it out and keep the historical gem afloat!

The Worst Dining Experience I just returned from a night at the Wheat Sheaf with my friend. I am a server myself and find that I generally am very empathetic towards restaurant staff as I know how busy things can get late at night. To begin with, the service was HORRIBLE, even for a bar setting. The man took a very long time to come greet us and throughout the whole dining experience had a horrible attitude as if we were making his life difficult by our simple presence, not once looking us in the eye or making it obvious that he actually heard what we were saying. This however, does not begin to cover what I just experienced. Being a server and originally coming from British Columbia, I will admit that some of the liquor laws are a bit different out here in Ontario. My friend and I ordered a bottle of wine, and had about two glasses worth left. As the bar was closing, we decided to take the bottle with us home, as we have always been able to do at restaurants before, and as servers in British Columbia and Ontario we have allowed our tables to do. They had started to put the chairs away and asked us to settle up, so we assumed we had to leave and thought it was normal to take the wine home with us. The server had originally brought us the bottle already opened and without a lid on it, which I personally chalked up to him just being an uncaring server and expecting us to finish the bottle which in the end we did not. As we were walking home(we live next door) the server chased us down at the entrance to our condo, yelled«HEYYOU!» in a menacing voice, snatched the bottle of wine out of my hand, and started marching back towards the bar. I followed him inquiring what was the matter and as he began yelling/speaking sternly and rudely to me. Obviously this made me quite upset as in my mind I was doing nothing wrong, and the man refused to even have a conversation with me. Once we were back at the bar he disappeared and I ended up talking to another server and the owner. I learned that at the bar they have a different liquor license than the restaurants I have worked at, which I was not aware of. I explained the situation to the server and owner, who were attacking me and telling me that I was risking their liquor license by leaving with a bottle of wine. Which as I have stated I was not aware of nor was I intending to do. However, the owner out of spite had dumped my bottle of wine. I asked if we could have the rest there at the bar then, but they refused to pour the last two glasses to my friend and I, and rudely told me they did not care that we had paid for the wine. That it was our fault as we had walked out with it. JUSTTOCLARIFY I had no idea that this was against their liquor license, nor was I trying to be sneaky and possibly get the bar in trouble. As a young woman I have never felt so disrespected and undermined by male servers/restaurant staff, and unappreciated as a customer. I have never received such horrible service or encountered such unfriendly people at a restaurant setting before. There is a certain way to deal with misunderstandings such as this and the way I was treated was not one of them. Reading the previous reviews I can see that some have had enjoyable experiences at this bar, and I am upset that I did not encounter this version of the wheat sheaf. I will never be returning, and am posting this review as there are many bars on this intersection and I recommend avoiding this one after the experience I have just had dealing with the owner and serving staff.

This used to be a decent place to have wings… not anymore. The past few times we’ve gone the wings were overcooked and extremely dry. The nachos are also overcooked. The server had a very nasty attitude when told that the nachos were horrible. Didn’t ask us if we wanted something else or a replacement… simply walked off with the tray of nachos. One person ordered the fish and chips and at least they tasted good… the issue came when leaving… she started to feel really sick and spent the following hour plus in the washroom. It’s sad that a place that we used to enjoy(especially during the summer months) is so horrible now.

Went here just recently after moving into the area. Was pleasantly surprised by their weekend brunch menu which was all priced below $ 10. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was great and my partner who is a vegetarian was able to switch out the ham for Sautéed mushrooms. Overall the meal was great and the service was decent. The restaurant also has a great patio. See pictures.

I’ve been working nearby for close to a year now and I have lunch their almost every day. The staff have become my friends. I cannot offer higher praise. Their specials are fantastic. Solid burgers, world-class stew and other offering that I crave day after day. I bring anyone I can there if we’re on King west.

Been coming here for 10+ years now — gotta love the half priced wings 3 days a week. Good local bar with several tvs to enjoy the sports games. Don’t expect the best or quickest service… but then again whats the rush…

Dear Wheat Sheaf, First — it’s 2015. Have the ability to take debit. Second — Get rid of the mouldy sewage stench that permeates the entire building. Third — Get rid of the tuxedo wearing frat boys that date rape you with their eyes. Fourth — If you are a «great» «toronto» «tradition» put some more cheese on them there nachos. Adiós!

First of all, let me tell you that I like the restaurant. It’s close to my place. It was my date spot with my husband(before getting married). I come here sometime but the service was ok till tonight. The server upset me! My friend and I mentioned in the beginning we wanted to order take-out, when we were ordering food for dine-in. He said if we ordered it at that time the kitchen would make it right away so we wanted to wait. 1.31 we called him and expected to order for take-out. He said the kitchen was closed at 1.20am! Hello! But he didn’t tell us or do the last call at all!!! He said he came to ask if everything was ok and we didn’t say anything. Com’on «Is-everything-ok?» Does it mean the kitchen is closing or it’s the last call?! You shouldn’t have made an excuse if you forgot to ask us and you know what. You came to ask us after ordering the food at 1.25am Man! We saw the time! You didn’t show up after taking the order from 12.20 am(around that) till 1.25 am(I’m sure about the time bcoz I was checking the time when you came). If you don’t believe in service, you shouldn’t have worked in service job.

Just returned from a thoroughly mediocre brunch here. Ordered cranberry juice that was odd/definitely one of those«fruit cocktails» that have absolutely no real fruit in them, mozzarella sticks that were pretty good, a «spinach twister»(spanakopitaesque) that came to our table ice cold and was almost burnt when we asked for it to be warmed up, and pancakes and sausage. Everything other than the mozzarella sticks tasted… Cheap and meh. I’m pretty sure the spinach twister and sausages were just defrosted and brought to our table, so I wasn’t too impressed. Service was painfully awkward. Like, literally my cousin and I had to cringe every time our server walked away after speaking with us. He was just so… inept in dealing with people. Harsh, but true.

The bar is pretty basic and no frills and isn’t heavy on atmosphere, but they have lots of TV’s and plenty of seating, indoors and out. Service is friendly and prices are good. They also have great wings, and wing night is three nights(Sun, Mon, Tues). The fries are the best in the city. Worth the trip

Short version : Mediocre wings Terrible service. Long version: … Got seated in the patio area, which was great. After waiting over 15 minutes to get a menu(was not busy) Ordered a pitcher only to realize after pouring, and after my bf had taken a sip out of the glass there was a lipstick stain on the outside of the glass clearly not from me… And which had been not washed properly. Gross. Waitress came back and scoffed about the fact this could be true. Reluctantly gave us a new drink. Wings were okay. The lipstick stain definitely have us a negative experience overall.

Cold beers! Get your cold beers here! This place serves some of the coldest beers when I came here. We usually ordered the beer along with chicken wings, which were pretty good. It’s your typical sports bar with tons of TVs, noise, and booze. It’s located on King Street and Bathurst, but it’s literally 2 steps from a bus or streetcar stop. Great for hanging out with a friend or for large groups.

Given the history of this place and the fact that I was here many years ago for the Sunday evening wings special, I thought it would be a great place to head to after finishing my Toronto Goodlife Sunday morning run. Our group of 4 and half found a little secluded spot towards the back and we were reminded of the impending mob of people to come and watch game 7 of the Raptors game. I really don’t know why we stayed in our spot as it must be located above the washrooms and the odor was present. Most of us had brunch and it was kind of the waiter to let us know of items that were not on the brunch menu that were of greater value. In our case, ordering a regular breakfast with an extra side would run you $ 12 but ordering the Bonanza with pancakes, eggs, homefries, bacon, sausage and toast is only $ 10. The food came and it was nothing spectacular. The pancakes had a hard rim on the outside and the homefries didn’t have the illusion that they actually came out of someone’s home. They should be called factory fries. The waiter did check on us later to make sure the food was okay but when he’s not at your table, you don’t get any service from him. He doesn’t really make room for you to pass him when you go to bathroom. He’s more keen on putting reservation signs on tables instead of seeing if any of his patrons need anything or are trying to walk by him. All in all, I’m not likely to come back or suggest it as a meeting place. I think there’s much better options nearby… Wvrst anyone?
