I want to like this toy store, I really do. I mean, who wouldn’t want to 5-star a small, independent toy store in one’s own neighbourhood? But I just can’t. Main reasons? 1) Lack of service. Every we come in to browse, I sense an attitude from behind the counter. No smiles, no «Can I help you with anything?». They just. .. don’t really seem to care. Even when it’s not busy. Is it just us? Not sure. In any case, it’s off-putting. 2) The prices. I’ve seen things here that are as much as 20% more than at Mastermind’s regular prices. 3) Mediocre/small selection. Any item or series we want to look for, we can find in greater variety at Mastermind. In short, if you’re looking for a good Canadian(i.e. not the Toys ‘R Us chains) toy store, this ain’t it.

I love this store. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and I trust their recommendations. Prices are about the same to big retailers, sometimes it’s a bit more, sometimes it’s a bit less but I enjoy shopping there for the service and the atmosphere.

A pleasant store with lots of toys, a good mix between natural toys, educational toys, art supplies and just«fun things». Their prices are usually decent, not the cheapest price in town, but usually not so far off that they’re objectionable. Their staff is typically knowledgeable and willing to try and help. They have a loyalty program if you buy a lot of toys there. We’ve bought a fair number of toys here for my son, ordered a few things that we couldn’t get in store, and we’ve generally been happy with the service and pricing. It’s nice to have a store like this in the neighbourhood. The changed hands recently, I believe, but the overall feel of the place doesn’t seem to be changing.

I’m not from TO but was trying to find a gift for a friend that lives there. They helped me over the phone, special ordered what I wanted and helped me ship it to my friend. There was a little mixup but all in all great service and I would recommend them. Considering I was telephone customer and they treated me well, I can only assume in store service would be better. Thanks again

I am a proud Auntie to lovely nieces & nephews, and whenever birthdays & Xmas roll around or I just plain feel like spoiling them, I come to Treasure Island. It’s chockful of unique and educational toys, no Transformers or harlot-like Bratz Dolls here(seriously they look so slutty…) and no wandering the aisles in some mammoth & impersonal emporium… sorry Toys R Us but you make toy shopping feel like grocery shopping and that’s not fun. The staff are always terrific, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about helping you navigate the store to find the right toy for that special little someone. Truthfully every toy I’ve gotten for my niece/nephews here has been a long-lasting hit. There is also a great selection of books in the back area with wee tables and chairs for kids to hang out and read. Okay, I admit I also come here to nurture my Sylvanian Families fetish, they’re cute miniature critters flocked in velvet with beady eyes and decked out like characters from Little House on the Prairie… I can’t explain… I’m just enthralled by their adorability. To make things that much simpler the folks here will wrap up your gifts for free and will also put you on their mailing list for their newsletter which keeps you in the loop for sales promos and new merchandise. If you hate shopping for toys in department stores, or(shudder) at Costco and you really are limited for time, make easy work(and play) of it and get to Treasure Island toys… that little someone will be so happy you did!

I popped into Treasure Toys yesterday for the first time to buy my son some ridiculous baby sunglasses that wrap around the back of his head. Have you ever seen a baby with sunglasses on?! They’re ridiculous!!! I thought this place was just another small toy store, but when you walk in its like the closet to Narnia: IT’S HUGE and it seems like they have everything! Seriously, I ended up looking for several different items: whoozits, sleep sheep, baby banz, squishy ball rattle(that’s not the name but who cares), and other retarded baby named toys and they had them all and directed me to them without hesitation. Even when I found the baby sunglasses in this checkered baby blue colour that the hubby was giving me cut eye for wanting to buy, they seemed to read his signals nicely and promptly hopped in the back to find my kid more«masculine» looking ones. I’ll definitely be hitting this place up again for my kids growing needs — and maybe my own, have you SEEN Ninjago?! SHITISCOOL!!!
