I stayed at Templar Hotel for a bachelorette party and after the weekend, this is the letter we wrote to management. «Hi I understand that one of the girls from our group has already spoken to the hotel about our stay this weekend but I wanted to also share my thoughts and feedback as well. I am writing this email to express my sincere dissatisfaction with my stay at the hotel. I stayed at the templar hotel on Adelaide on Saturday night(July 11) with my friends for a bachelorette party and this was my first experience at the hotel. We reserved the entire 2nd floor for our group for privacy and the service was not only horrible, but all the rooms we reserved had no air conditioning amid 30+ degree weather outside. The rooms were constantly over heated and barely tolerable because of the heat. We complained to the staff about the heat multiple times, and the staff did not do anything to fix the problem, other than to tell us that the air conditioning system was not working and blamed the heat from the sun coming in from the large windows. If the design of the rooms were to have large windows, then the hotel should ensure the air conditioning system was strong enough to cool the rooms down. The staff did not offer to bring fans into the room until the guests asked for ice and fans. Because the rooms were so hot, some guests at the party had to leave because they would rather go back home to sleep, when they originally were planning to stay at the hotel for the night. Also, one of the rooms that we reserved reeked of very strong paint varnish which gave the guests staying at that room headaches all night. The hotel really should not be offering rooms to guests if the air conditioning system is not working or is still under renovation — these are horrible business decisions and guests will definitely not return. I was really looking forward to my stay at this boutique hotel but I will not recommend this hotel to any of my friends or colleagues in the future.» And this is what we got back. «Hi I would love to call you to personally apologize, please give me your number so I can put a voice to how terrible I feel for the experience of your group during your stay. We did not choose to rent out rooms knowing this would happen. Please don¹t take it as a malicious and negligent attempt on our part to sell rooms despite the lack of AC. The whole system went down over night for the first time since I have been involved with the hotel. I called our service team immediately when I found out(I was at a wedding and believe me when I tell you that this ruined my night). It was fixed then went down again overnight. At 3am after our concierges told me again of the situation after I thought it was fixed. The service team came back again at 4am and worked to about 10am to fix the problem. Our concierges were not aware of the problem since they are not mechanically trained for these types of issues — hence why I was dealing with it from a hotel room at a wedding. Unfortunately things like this do happen on rare occasion to all types of buildings. It is just unfortunate that it happened on a very hot night on a night when you should really be celebrating. I am speaking with the owner this afternoon and we will be come up with a solution that is amicable for all those affected by that unfortunate issue. Please please feel free to call to vent. I understand your frustration. Regards,» They proceeded to offer us a $ 50 off per room and a complimentary stay of 1 night in the future. Needless to say, we will never return nor will we recommend this boutique hotel to anyone we know.

Comfortable rooms at a great price. Really swanky bathrooms and modern feeling décor.

There were great things, and not so great things. The great things: — The minimalist design — The cool elevator — Price(only paid about $ 100 for a night) — The front desk — Lana, the lady at the front desk, was very kind and accommodating. She was not only very helpful for the things we needed in the hotel, she helped us plan our two days out in Toronto. I would say that this place was bumped up a star just because of her. Not so great things: — Tried too hard for the design(check out the basement; it’s totally empty and weird) — Lack of lights and lack of good lighting(designers forgot how important lighting is) — A bit cramped — Elevator buzzes for every first choice you make
