I have wanted to wear a saree for a long time and since this weekend we were having a «curry» dinner party… finally decided to do something about it. I looked online and it looked so complicated… I decided to just get an Indian style top(Kurti) and wear leggings. I went in and out of stores on Gerrard St and I was amazed at the selection and pricing. Then I found Sonu Saree Palace. I was greeted so warmly. I told the lady I was just looking for a Kurti because a Saree seemed out of my price range and my skill set. She was very sweet and asked what my price range was. I repeated… I know they are expensive AND I don’t know how to wear it. She showed me the Kurti’s but Then without any pressure… she showed me some Sarees which were priced WELL below what I had thought they cost. I found one that was gorgeous. BUT I knew from my earlier research I would need a small top and an underskirt to go with the Saree. Again with MY budget in mind… she picked out both for me. Another lady helped me put the whole outfit on. They both took their time with me and were very patient. I felt like a princess the outfit was do gorgeous. Then she helped me pick out bangles, earring and a bindi to match my outfit. A truly stunning outfit from top to bottom for less than $ 100. If you are on a budget… forget the accessories and you can still look like a Princess. When I was checking out I found out that the lady who had made me feel so comfortable and who had helped with my budgetary concerns was actually the owner. She said they had been there 36 years. I can see why. Definitely will be back… even if you don’t want a Saree… the accessories in this store are beautiful! Highly recommend!
