Recently stopped here for drinks one evening while in town on business and was quite impressed. Fun and open concept, with nothing but a short step to separate the sidewalk from the interior. We got a table right by the sidewalk, and got to enjoy the people watching while we chatted and tried beers from their extensive selection. Great service, checking on us regularly and keeping us topped up with water and drinks. The beer list is a thick book, providing countless options for pretty much any desires. Highly recommended! Can’t speak to the food as we ate elsewhere before coming here.

Went on a whim while in Toronto with a friend from out of town. We got the Belgium Poutine(and never having poutine before) to start and I was blown away. fries were still crisp even though they were slathered in gravy and the cheese melted right away. Very yummy. The grilled calamari however was very chewy almost rubbery. The flavor was there but the texture was not. Between the two of us we spilt a burger and that was delicious and it tasted great with my Cider. Speaking of Cider, they have an extensive beer list, minimal cider list(with really great options) and okay wine list.

Great decore; it has a laid back and relaxing atmosphere with a nice view outside. There is always great service. I enjoy all the different beers on tap, and their variety of poutine options.

Dim lit but we’ll maintained pub. The beer selection is mostly European(Germany, Holland, Austria). A few very string beers on tap(10%). Unfortunately they cramped too many tables and seats making our evening a bit uncomfortable. The person sitting in the isle seat kept getting bumped by waiters and passing patrons. Once even elbowed in the head. We came for drinks and as a result cannot comment on the food. Service was alright but not overly attentive despite not being all that busy.

Don’t be fooled by the nice décor, this place is just like any other pub(with slightly worse food). Came here with friends for drinks and dinner and although I was impressed by their extensive beer selection, the food left a lot to be desired; granted, a pub is first and foremost about the drinks, but I can’t help feeling that if you’re going to serve food you might as well do it right. I ordered the holy smoked salmon wrap and my friends got the pasta special. I am recalling how the salmon wrap tasted as I write this, and honestly I feel a little nauseous. The flavours of the wrap were fine but the salmon tasted… off. First, I was surprised that the fish came in cubes rather than in slices(as smoked salmon usually does), and as I continued eating I couldn’t shake the feeling that the fish tasted like it had gone bad or at the very least wasn’t fresh at all. Anyone who’s ever eaten really bad, old sushi will know what I’m talking about. I ended up only being able to eat half the wrap before I had to call it quits — I absolutely hate wasting food but I am also extremely wary of bad fish. Quite tempted to give this place 2 stars because this particular bad experience has really stuck with me, but both my friends enjoyed their pasta so I’m chalking it up to a poor ordering decision on my part. Great place to grab drinks and chat with friends. However, if you’re going to order food, stay away from the smoked salmon wrap if you want to avoid phantom nausea at the thought of cubed fish for the next few weeks.

I love this place. There is something about it that makes you feel like you are in Belgium. Maybe its the old european looking décor, church across the street, and the huge selection of european beers. They have one of the best selection of good beers in Toronto and their food is actually quite good for a pub. I’ve had their poutine, fresh mussels, and both were quite good. The service is great with all servers having an amazing knowledge of beer and always willing to make some good suggestions based on your preference. My favourite to date is the Tripel Karmeliet which is always my first drink at every visit.

Good selection but not an excellent recommendation if your comparison is rickards and I’m saying that’s not quite right try an alternative. Food was tasty and well presented. Service is friendly but a bit slow. Slightly close together seating makes it a bit more than cozy. Overall definitely a spot I’d go to for another pint.

I came here with a few friends after doing an event at another place. The server we had was very friendly though I found the host to be semi-rude. He wasn’t really rude, but it just seemed like he had a long day. I got the sense he was giving some attitude off. This bar is much better spaced out than the Village Idiot next door(which was insanely loud — and I can tolerate loud noise) and cramped. What I liked about this bar was that they had plenty of vegetarian options and even a really good dish that had couscous, lentils and mixed veggies which was very good. Some cons — no nachos. :-( Verdict — not bad.

My husband and I stopped here for a lunch break while visiting the art gallery of Ontario and were pleasantly surprised by the great tap list! We were happy to find one of our favorites — Hofbrau — on tap. The tables are pretty close together so a guy at the neighboring table complimented us on our beer choice(as he held up a large HB mug). The Belgian Poutine with delirium tremens gravy and cheese curds was fantastic!

Sin & Redemption has a great selection of(mainly) Europe beers. These beers come cold and there’s a lot of them to choose from. Unfortunately that may be one of the few redeeming qualities about the place. Beer aside, the food and the service were more of a sin then a redemption. I had the burger, it was dry and the bun was stale. The service was also lackluster, perhaps our server was new but there were some pretty basic serving roles that were not executed. One meal was forgotten entirely, our plates were left on the table for way too long after we finished eating, and many our glasses were left empty with no one asking if we would like a refill(until we had to flag someone down ourselves). If you’e looking for somewhere to go for a pint after work or school, this place isn’t a bad option but stick to the beer and maybe some fries.

This is a pretty decent place to hangout with your friends. Remember if you are planning to meet in a big group then this is not your place. It is little congested and jam packed. Food is okay but the service is just great. Prices are reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. We were meant to meet up with a larger group, which totaled of about 9 of us. The place was already pretty busy so I honestly did not expect that they would be able to seat us together. I was wrong, we did not wait longer than ten minutes. The host sat the majority of our party and kept an eye on the neighboring table. The remaining members went next door to the village idiot for a quick beer, by the time we came back we were all able to sit together. I wish I remembered the servers name, she was so pleasant and efficient, especially dealing with a noisey crowd. Kudos to her. Here is why I am not giving 5 stars: the server warned us if we paid via credit or debit there was the potential to be charged twice, the atm did not work, not all of the beers listed were available, and the women’s washroom needed a tidy. Otherwise, we all really enjoyed the atmosphere, the variety, and the quality of the food. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back if I was in the area

SPICY Seafood Rigatono w/calamari, shrimp and mussels. We got caught in a thunderstorm, it immediately warmed me up. Above my spice tolerance by a tad but so worth it. Partner got New England clam chowder, a spoonful with amazing flavours and conforting. Sat by the window, sun came out 20 minutes later.

The beauty of this place is that you can drink & have fun while redeeming yourself by silently praying to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church right beside it. I guess this is how the restaurant has its name in the first place. Brilliant. I brought my date here for our dinner; I’d say the experience was pleasant in general. Although the food was spectacular(the French fries was impressive though), the great atmosphere did make up for it. We were sitting right beside the«window» that is not covered by glass, so it felt like we were actually dining at a patio. Guess what? I love patios and summer in Toronto — they are just so perfect, and Sin & Redemption will bring them together.

We had supper this evening at Sin & Redemption. It was nice to sit by the window When we got there, my friend, Monica, was drinking a Liefmans Fruitesse that looked like fun so I had one too! Yum! I ordered Indian Style Chicken Curry. It was okay. Gord ordered a Judas’ Kiss Chicken Breast Sandwich with a salad. They put fries on it by mistake but Matthew, our server, was quick to bring him the side salad. He liked the pesto sauce but thought the bun was too big for the chicken. He said he’d get it again, though. Sin & Redemption has a great beer selection and Mark and Gord had fun trying different ones. Matthew took good care of us.

Food was ok but the service was TERRIBLE!!! The waitress was the rudest I’ve ever met! When we asked for more water at the end, she literally smirked, rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath. We were stunned, looked at each other and was like«is she mad at us or something?». I guess she heard, came back and said«no I’m not mad, it’s just that everyone asks for water at the end… you know it’s a waiter thing.» WTF?!? What’s a waiter thing… filling your customers’ waters? And with that kind of attitude? Never going back to this place! I’m still shocked at what happened! Never encountered this type of service(or disservice) anywhere.

They have a good selection of food but that’s not the main attraction here. Their main appeal is more known for their big book of different beers/drinks. Price is reasonable with drinks as with the food. Great place to come here with friends, but might be a bit of a wait for large groups. Upon first visit, you may be a bit shocked of the amount of arm chairs and how crowded it can get. It can get very loud but that’s how it should be if the place has good drinks! The staff here can be varied, with quirky personalities(I got called ‘Sparkles’ here once). All in all, good place for after dinner drinks and hang out spot.(Y)

Came here a week later for some late night food and drinks; I had the belgian poutine and a couple of Frulis. The belgian poutine didn’t taste any different from a regular poutine to me; the menu said it was a «miso gravy» but honestly, it just tasted like regular gravy. However, the fries were crisp and the cheese curds were nicely melted so I was still satisfied. I’ve never had Fruli before, so I was pretty pleased with my selection(I love me some sweet draaaanks). Service was great, as seems to be the norm here! I chose to bump up my original rating of 3 stars for the continued great service, and the discovery of a new favourite beverage.

Comfy place by the AGO with surprisingly good food and an extensive beer selection. I ordered the smoked salmon wrap and it was massive ! Came with boiled eggs inside and a nice sized salad to top it off. We also ordered the flatbread braised beef and it was pretty good too although a bit bland in flavour. Try sitting at their couples tables. There are a couple isolated booths around the floor. One had its own faux fireplace . Overall a good place to bring a date for a bite and drink

Granted, I have never tried the food here, so I am strictly reviewing the drinks, service, and atmosphere… Which are all fantastic! My only complaint is that it is often very crowded and hard to get a table. But I’m not surprised, considering their impressive selection of European beers on tap. It is so much fun to bring a date here and try some beers you’ve never tried before. And the prices are pretty reasonable, around $ 6 – 8 a pint. I discovered my new favourite wheat beer thanks to this spot — Weihenstephaner! Also, it comes from the world’s oldest brewery, almost 1000 years old. Like drinking history!
