Shalu Pal

I found this place on Unilocal.Because of the 5 star rating, I decided to give it a shot.
First of all, Dr. Shalu Pal, by herself, I would give a 5 star rating. She’s very knowledgeable, and though the price is quite high, I would probably go back. She really did take her time and explain the importance of different lenses to me and answered all my questions.
Staff? Me thinks not. Firstly, they were VERY rude and condescending to me, in fact, when one of them was taking a look at my eye and could not get the accurate scan she said and I quote «She (as in me) is being so difficult, her eye is impossible to scan». First strike.
Second strike. I picked out a very nice pair of Tom Ford glasses, and they charged me over 700 dollars for the glasses including one unspecified «overcharge» fee of 128. I asked the receptionist to explain what it was to me, and she said «that is just standard». What does that even mean? Then, when I went to pick up the glasses again a few days later, I found a pair of glasses that were VERY VERY thick. In fact, I would be embarassed to wear them outside in public. I asked the receptionist and she said that it was not the labs fault, because my eyesight was so bad. Strike Two and Three
Then I asked Dr. Shalu Pal about it, and she was like, oh they seemed to have done a pretty bad job, I will ask them to try a bit harder. The next time the glasses came back pretty good.
Overall, I’ve debated going back just because Dr. Shalu Pal is so kind and helpful, however, after spending over 1000 dollars on glasses, contacts, checkups and that «overhead», I don’t think I deserved the treatment I did by the staff, and I will frankly find a different optometrist which at least has a more professional team working for them.

I just visited Dr. Pal today and it was the most pleasant experience for me.
Friendly staffs, great location and the doctor herself is really nice. She’s very thorough and explained everything for me in plain English. A lot of Optometrist refused to see me unless I took the expensive eye exam from them but this is not the case. She also has great selection of sunglasses and contact lenses.
If you live or work in downtown, look no further. Dr. Pal is the best!

Wearing glasses all my life I’ve seen a lot of optometrists, but I have to say … My visit to Dr. Pal was the best experience I’ve ever had at the optometrist.
Dr. Pal was very knowledgeable about all kinds of contact lenses, and took the time to explain the different types of lenses that would be best for me. She was extremely professional and patient with me as I tried contacts for the first time – which was important since I was nervous about putting the contacts in my eyes.
Two other things really impressed me about Dr. Pal’s office: she used a lot of technology that I hadn’t seen before to assess my eyes, and all of the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.
I’m absolutely going to keep going back!!!
