Stepped inside for a quick hot chocolate and cheddar bacon scone while practising our city pastime — waiting out a TTC problem. Ah well, things could be much worse and this Second Cup isn’t a bad spot to wait. It’s small but cozy, with 7 tables for two available plus a couple of small café tables outside on the sidewalk. The pastries, cakes and beverages are standard Second Cup fare. Unmemorable, but passable. I’m scarfing down a bacon cheddar scone sprinkled with black pepper as I write this now; washing it all down with a Classic Hot Chocolate with whipped cream. It’s fun to use the different powders and toppings freely available in silver shake canisters by the espresso machine. Cocoa powder, cinnamon, graham cracker topping… whee! Baristas are smiling, friendly and soft-spoken. All in all, a lovely way to start a morning.

I come here all the time, coffee is great, staff is friendly and there is a nice sense of community. You’d think pouring hot coffee without attitude wouldn’t be rocket science, but alas judging by many other coffee joints that seems to be the case. I come here all the time to do homework, to relax, to meet friends, even came on my birthday with some besties and pigged out on the desserts haha.

We came here for a snack before my haircut because I was so hungry. This Second Cup location is really small. But it has a few tables inside & a small patio outside. While we were having a snack it started raining & we hadn’t brought an umbrella. Luckily hubby thought to ask if there was an umbrella we could borrow from the lost & found. The lady there was really nice & gave us one she said we could keep. But when we got outside the rain had mostly stopped. So after my haircut we returned it to the coffee shop.
