A very hipster coffee shop that offers a friendly ambiance and a great assortment of coffees, teas, and baked treats. This is a great neighborhood shop where the staff are fun and quirky, but know their coffee. The aesthetic inside is cozy. Whether you’re sitting in or getting a drink to go, the shop offers a great café experience. I particularly love their line of tea lattes — a personal favorite is their Toasty Tea Almond Latte.

Great place to grab a coffee with friends or catchup with family. The folks who run this are friendly and are rooted in the community. Come here during winter, grab a coffee, watch the street cars passing by, kids Tobaggoning and catch a gorgeous view of the Toronto skyline in the background & the riverdale park in the foreground. Favorite indie coffeehouse in TO to date.

Good coffee and one super friendly barista make this a place I’d go to anytime I’m in the area. Often lots of street parking too!

This is a very popular place. There are seats, but most are already taken. People are having a cup of coffee and talking about many things like businesses, relationships, and etc. Some people are reading news papers and other people are bringing their laptops. Their croissants are so good and coffee is excellent. There are varieties of drinks. I am going to take Honey Ginger Latte the next time!

Love love love. Biked from the west end to check this place out on a recommendation from a friend, and it was well worth the ride! Walked in at about 9:30 on a Sunday and the place was buzzing with such fun, positive, sunny energy. Great coffee, cozy décor, friendly service, awesome view, cute patio… perfect.

Fantastic coffee. They make what is quite possibly the best almond milk latte in Toronto. The milk is steamed to the perfect consistency and the ratio of espresso to milk to micro foam is always perfect. The end result is rich, balanced, and smooth. Yum. Fantastic location. You’ll find this place nestled in a more residential section of Broadview overlooking Riverdale Park. Take your coffee and baked good outside where you’ll be treated to a fantastic view of the Toronto skyline. Fantastic ambiance. The baristas are super friendly and not at all coffee snobs that you sometimes find at third wave coffee shops. The décor is all exposed brick, antique wood, and vintage knick knacks that will make you feel right at home. There’s a fair amount of seating and whether you’re there to do some work, catch up with friends, or just spend a relaxing morning with a coffee and a book, you’ll find your place. Need I say more?

What a great little coffee shop. I work in the area and frequent this place on friday afternoons when I’m trying to get through the last part of my week. Visiting here always adds a bit of joy into my day! I’ve tried a few of their iced teas and lattes. One of the iced teas was a bit of a dud but I forgave them. Service is always friendly and quick. The outside patio is always packed and the inside is super cozy. It makes you want to stay for awhile but alas I always must return to work.

The Rooster, especially this location, has everything you could possibly want in a café. Not only do they have a great selection of hot and cold drinks, but delicious food too. Most cafés have a small variety of baked goods that are usually all dried out. Not these guys! The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Nice mix of patrons. Overall, really cool vibe. One of the best things about this place though is the view. When the weather is nice, you can sit out on the café which is directly across the street from Riverdale Park where you get a gorgeous view of the city’s downtown core. Or, you can just go ahead and bring your stuff with you to the park and have a nice little picnic! Tea and scones in the park. How civilised! :)

I don’t go out for coffee often, so it’s hard to take when it’s lousy. I had an americano here that was so thick and rich and mellow and stout and creamy all at the same time that it set the bar for all other espresso-based drinks to aim for. Pleasant, competent service, beautiful coffee, and baked goods if you are into that. Which I am not.

Fantastic espresso. The lattes are always made to perfection. Possibly the best coffee house in Toronto. Friendly, sometimes kind of hectic vibe. Dogs welcome on the outisde patio, or better yet, cross the street and there is lot’s of room for the dog to run in the park while you look on with your coffee.

Great neighbourhood café. Good background barista chatter if you’re trying to concentrate and looking to keep up w it you’re screwed. Old restoration hardware worn leather comfy chairs barn board décor creates kitsch warmth and appeal. The best part is the view of the park and the spectacular view of downtown Toronto.

After passing by this place while riding my bike and they were always closed, I finally managed to adjust my schedule and got to try the place. The first time was good, with amazing and friendly service from the baristas. What I remember the most was how awesome the espresso tasted. While short it does pack a punch and leaves a nice after taste in the mouth. I’ve come back a few times now and am truly in love with the espresso and most of the people working here are great. In general they’re super chill and the vibe is awesome. I’ve got a chance to try some of their pastries and they’re ok. Definitely not mind blowing good but decent in both taste and price. What sets this place apart is the fantastic location. There’s a great view of the Toronto skyline and no matter what time of day you’re around, it’s always very relaxing and a great place to people watch. The patio in front of the Café has a lot of seats and while they’re mostly occupied I’m yet to get here and not find a place to sit down. Inside, there’s plenty of room as well and the place keeps the chill vibes. Definitely a great find and will become a regular and update my review after a few more visits.

Rooster was one of the first places in Toronto to bring to town the now-ubiquitous-cliché-worldwide hip indie coffee house experience complete with décor heavily laced with vintage hipster flea market knick-knacks and reclaimed wood, a communal table(at the back), and emphasis on a quality cup and café experience. I seen it turn into that from the convenience store it previously was several years ago and pop in once in a while, sometimes with a friend to hang out. It has become something of a neighbourhood cultural hub. Baristas seem to spend a lot of time with regulars though. This bright, cozy and intimate café has seats for all sorts of typical café uses, be it tables and bars for staring at tablets and laptops, comfy recliners. And my favourite(and something their newer King East location can only wish it had: the spacious front patio facing Riverdale Park where you can watch the streetcars, neighbourhood rats and hipster girls go by. Coffee snobs rave about their coffees. There are great stuff as well for the less enthusastically caffinated like myself. Their tea lattes are great. Really great are their refreshing seasonal light drinks: Apple cider and ice teas, watermelon lemonade, matcha tea lemonade, yes please. Usually always busy buzzing, sometimes with live music at the patio. One fun touch is the communal crossword puzzle at the front counter – basically a clipping of the day’s paper crossword that anyone can help complete. {TTC: Withrow Ave via the 504/505er}

Very cute place! With the big front windows, this place gets a lot of natural lighting, which is especially good in the summer months. They have an outdoor patio at the front of the café, some bar seating right inside and a large, communal table at the back. Service was quick, and friendly. I especially liked the«community crossword» they had at the bar — a clipboard with that day’s crossword on it, that anyone can contribute to! I had an iced almond latte($ 4) and a ginger molasses cookie($ 2). The drink was only okay — it was a pink, milky drink, with a(tea?) bag filled with almonds at the bottom. It was refreshing, but if I closed my eyes and drank it, I am not sure that I would be able to distinguish it from regular milk. The cookie however, was pretty good! They are about the size of Starbucks cookies, but tastes distinctly homemade. The cookie had good ginger flavour, was buttery and crisp, and had a liberal sprinkling of coarse sugar on top. I will be back — next time, to try their coffee based drinks(I heard they had cold brew — will definitely need to get that).

I’ve been living in the east-end for about two years and I finally got to try this little coffee shop that I’d been hearing about since I moved into the area. My expectations were high and the place did NOT disappoint. I can honestly say that Rooster, quite possibly, makes the BEST latte in Toronto. And this review does not come without experience. I don’t want to name them here but I think I’ve tried almost every well known, independent coffee shop in Toronto and Rooster tops them all. True, the place has all the charm, décor, and accoutrements you come to expect — baked good, comfy leather chairs, and friendly staff — but it’s the coffee that makes this place a destination.

This is probably my favourite coffee house. I used to work in the distillery district, and we would pop into the Rooster location there. I found it to be over crowded, with all the students from George Brown, as well as neighbouring businesses. This location is perfect. Same tasty drinks, only now with a lovely view of the downtown skyline beyond the park. It is a busy neighbourhood hotspot, however, the two times I’ve been to this location, I was able to find a seat. In warmer weather it’s even nicer as there is outdoor seating in terms of benches and little tables and bright red umbrellas. My favourite drinks are the Mocha(hot or iced) and almost all of the tea lattes.

Sharmy. Is that how you spell it? That’s what it is. A very cliquey place. If you’re not the old white guys, the upper middle class SUV crowd or the lusting after the barista 30 somethings ladies you just aren’t particularly welcomed. That’s unless they decide you are. The coffee is ok, good sometimes, but not great. The service is fine unless you are unfortunate to be there when a staff member and a ‘regular’ decide to engage in a discussion of their weekend plans, sadly that happens all too often. They have ‘forgotten’ my order several times and ignored the cue to put regular customers ahead of me. There is a fine line between fine line between familiarity and cult and this place is on the creepy side of the line. Sorry Rooster you’re just not that cool. Shiver.

I originally spotted this place after seeing it in the movie«What If», I was flabbergasted that I never heard of a coffee shop that overlooked the TO skyline from afar. Al fresco seating outside is serene and the coffee is amazing!
