The location looks great. A bit bright inside for an Irish pub. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and there were plenty of good quality flat screen TVs inside. The only negatives revolve around the fact that the Guinness taps were not functioning, and the pulled pork sandwich I ordered almost had more vegetables on it than pork, but the fries were good.

This place was so expensive for the what I got. The lamb burger was beyond disappointment. The thin patty was dried out and overcooked to the point of crumbling. The goat cheese was a nice twist but when it’s not spread evenly and hammered on with the sriracha aioli, there was nothing to cut through the creaminess. The whole burger itself lacked depth, flavor, or a nice balance. The fries were quite unpalatable too, as it was not seasoned prior and lack any sense of crisp. Will not be coming back for any reasons.

The $ 3 tacos are on Thursday! Good snack with a pint. Crowd is good and service today was quick and attentive. $ 3 taco yah!

Fun & friendly wait staff. We were lucky enough to come on the night of their 10th anniversary and they made the experience very fun with costumes, free drinks and giveaways. But besides that the food was delicious! If I was from around here I could definitely see myself hanging out at the bar here.

Ugh. I didn’t want to come here. My friend had a baby and can move 10 feet away from her home so this was the choice. The waiter was very nice, that’s what the two stars are for. Don’t order food if you could, just drink.

Shitty overpriced food, warm beer, and a lousy sound system that will give you a headache after 15 minutes. And on top of that, the tip options on the credit card machine are 15%, 18%, and 20%.

Relatively slow service here on the patio. But the couches were quite nice and beer specials were reasonable. Nachos were not bad with the meat sauce.

This place gets by on location. Overpriced food, bad service, and an uninspired atmosphere. They had 2 servers on during a busy Friday lunch which definitely affected the service we received. My meal did not come out as ordered but it was too late to say anything since I only had an hour for lunch and our food took at least 35 minutes to come out and the server didn’t return to check on us until everything was nearly done. Would not go again although they advertise $ 5 pints on certain days which might be worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Another stopover in a Toronto style Irish bar in search of some live Irish music, Pogue Mahone had a live band playing some random top 40 style music, unidentifiable, and not entirely musical, yet you have to admire these guys for putting in the effort and time to do something they obviously love. The open concept is airy and bright compared to some other Irish pubs, and our server was snappy quick and had our order filled and our belly’s happily topped up with Guiness and calamari in no time. The food was excellent, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended for your Irish cravings.

I’m rethinking this whole«local» thing. Pogue Mahone’s couldn’t be any closer. It lies in the lobby of my current office. It’s the place we all go when celebrating a colleagues success, or when wishing them well in their future endaevours. In other words, it’s where we go to drink with our bosses. There’s a lot of people here who also drink with their bosses. The place is full most evenings. Lots of sportcoats sliding off chair-backs and ties askew on sweaty necks. The tables are close together, and a terminally fouled-up reservation system perversely means you often get a better table than you bargained for. Seriously-once we were told the best they could do was a few high chairs(the bane of my drinking existence) by the bar; we wound up with full seating on the floor for our party-the tradeoff being that we were shoehorned beside a tray of funky oysters, but who’s complaining? So it’s close. It’s just not very good. A fine selection of beer on tap at a finer markup means I wind up paying $ 10 for a watery pint of Guinness. Cocktails are similarly watered down and gussied up, and shorts run a buck or two more than average(not that you’re paying if it’s your celebration. God love the generosity of coworkers). Food varies from OK to abhorrent. A platter of nachos is surprisingly good-mind you, it’s cheese and chopped veg on chips. What could go wrong? What does go wrong is most of the lunch menu. Fish and chips is somehow both overcooked past toughness and limp and greasy. The fries are amber-brown but lack crunch. Coleslaw is an afterthought. A burger is mostly lukewarm gristle, and an order of roast beef sliders is all bun. It is to laugh, other than the $ 14 appetizer price tag. Coffee arrives similarly grey and lukewarm and ashy-tasting. There’s a difference between a beloved local and a by-the-numbers cash-grab, made to take advantage of a captive market. For my money, I’ll take the party down Yonge Street where I can drink cheaper, or better, or both.

A really great place that has weekly deals that you can’t miss! The honey sriracha wings are to die to for especially if you like spicy! Tuesday nights they’re half price too :). The staff is so super super friendly that you WANT to come back! They bought shots and we partied with them after their shifts! Saturday nights they have a cool band and a draw where one table gets their bill paid for free!!! Ima be a regular fo sho!

It’s one of those places that can be totally happening in one corner and completely empty on the other and you wouldn’t be able to see. The server seemed to be on his own, which was extremely weird for a Saturday night. He was working the bar on his own too, it seemed, so I don’t blame him for a less than solid spiked lemonade my friend ordered, but my custom drink order he totally aced. I know some places just don’t get the traffic to justify the staff most nights, but this is a big bar. On a Saturday night. It was also really strange they placed everyone near the bar and no one in front of the really stellar live band. I’d probably come back but only for food I think. Or if that band plays there regularly.

This is a decent place, but a little ‘hit or miss’. Have been here when it was so crowded and noisy that I couldn’t find a seat or hear myself think, and I have been here when it’s so empty that’s it’s almost awkward. The business lunch crowd is comfortable, and they are fine with bringing in a laptop and doing a little work. As for food and beer, its a decent value for the price. I have yet to find a bad entrée, and the beer selection is reasonable. Nothing really sets it apart, but it doesn’t disappoint either. The servers are on task, if not overly social. Plenty of TVs to catch the sports broadcast of the moment. No complaints, but I wish it could be more memorable. Good location but no view to speak of. Food is respectable but not amazing. Beer selection is solid but not overly extensive. Servers are on task but don’t go out of their way to be talkative or social. Prices are in line with this part of town. I can’t justify a 5 star review, but they are too good for a 3 star review. This just seems to be a case of you ‘you get what you pay for’. I guess the Pogue Mahone can stand on honesty, which is more than you can say about many other places.

As a regular here for the last year I have to give these guys a below average review after my last two experiences which were both sub-par because of careless attitudes of several staff members. Before these experiences one after the other I would have added another star or two Let’s start with the good points: — a good selection of beers from all over and in decent sizes e. g pints — a nice atmosphere: good music, comfortable seating indoors in the booths, a nice sized patio area and good looking bar — the food is mostly ok for pub food, about what you’d expect quality wise and although not cheap it comes in a decent size The cons: — wait staff are very slow and often come across as unhelpful or just downright rude My issue started when I was served some ribs that were burned at the bottom. After bringing it to the waitresses attention I was told«oh that sucks». After some insistence on my part that something be done I was given a ten dollar off voucher for my next visit. I guess I should have insisted on a discount there and then. On the next visit I was told by the bartender the voucher could only be used on food, which was not printed on it, when I wanted to use it for a drink. Trying to take it up with the manager was too hard, I guess he was hiding away somewhere or just didn’t exist, so I gave the voucher to my friend who had offered food on the same visit. Given this was a credit for a bad experience I shouldn’t be having to explain myself or argue over semantics. The bartender knew me from a number of visits but apparently this is just how they treat regulars

It was A-OK. Wouldn’t seek it out, but served it’s purpose. Service was tough at first — wait staff couldn’t figure out who had our table, but once they figured it out service was good and friendly. Typical pub menu and the food arrived quickly and was good. Pricing seemed a bit high even for middle of downtown.

I’ve only gone to this place once and overall wasn’t really impressed. The only reason I went to this restaurant was because we were meeting friends. Upon arriving they already had 2 Rolling Rocks on tap started and we sat down and eventually ordered drinks as well. I ordered a Rolling Rock and my friend that came with me ordered another beer. Our two friends that were already there said there was something wrong with the beer. Neither had really drank too much of theirs, the most missing out of one of the glasses was maybe a little less than a quarter of the glass. Upon receiving mine I tried it immediately and noticed that yes it didn’t taste proper at all. In fact is was sickly sweet and not what it should have been. We basically had our server come over and asked what could be done. We were basically looking for new beers and for them to take these bad beers away. It took quite a while before our server returned and we didn’t get a real clear answer as to what they were going to do for us. In our minds there was absolutely no way we were going to pay for beer that was spoiled or worse but also we wanted replacement orders as soon as we could as well. For some unknown reason it took a really long time to get this resolved. Here you have 3 customers at a table of 4 telling you this beer is unacceptable and it was like pulling teeth to get this resolved… we hadn’t even gotten around to ordering food yet! Eventually the answer came back that yes they would take these beers away as if we didn’t order them and then we ordered new drinks. It to me was something very simple which was complicated needlessly for no particular reason. I had ordered fish and chips which was ok, nothing out of the ordinary or nothing outstanding about it. What killed it for me was the entire bad beer ordeal. If a customer is telling you there is something wrong please take it away immediately. It shouldn’t take upwards of 20 minutes to get something as simple as that resolved. To me that was unacceptable.

Typical Bar, nothing really stands out. It does have a good size patio but it’s not too busy at 6 pm on a Monday. Perhaps it’s because it is a Monday, or perhaps the food is just not to standard. My guess is a combination of both. My friends and I ordered an order of Nacho and Chicken wings. Monday is their half-price appetizer night; however, Nacho is the ONLY item on the appetizer menu that is not half-price — it wasn’t even that good. For the price that we paid $ 14.99 for a full order of nachos, you would think it would include some meats(none whatsoever). The chicken wings are also quite hard. It seems to me that the wings are already been cooked once before we ordered it. The location is definitely central so I can see people keeps on coming if everywhere else is full. I probably wouldn’t visit it a second time unless the food gets better.

I came here around 5:45 on a Friday afternoon to grab some drinks after work with a friend. The patio was packed, but we were lucky enough to snag a table for two outside. Although the pub was extremely busy, all of the wait staff were pleasant, efficient, and friendly. It turns out that we picked a good day to try out Pogue Mahone as it was their summer patio kick off party. They were giving out lots of free samples of food(fish tacos, corn dogs, nachos, etc.) and free drinks(sangria, shots of Honey Jack, beer, etc.). Although I didn’t try any of the food, it looked good, and it appeared to be a step above traditional ‘pub grub’. There was also live music on the patio. Unfortunately the music was much too loud, which made it difficult to carry out a conversation with my friend. In addition, I found that the tables were a bit too close together, and we had a rowdy couple at the table beside ours, so this detracted from our experience, but I guess that’s to be expected on a pub’s patio on a beautiful Friday evening. I’ll return because it’s convenient, reasonably priced, and has a good patio.

Pretty good atmosphere, great beers, terrible food. We dropped in to watch the leaf game and get some beer and pub food into our bellies. The place was packed full of hockey fans and the sound from the TVs was BLARING. It we had to yell to talk to each other across the 2 foot bar table. Ugh. I was happy that they served Innis & Gunn and treated myself to one. The Hubster was happy they had Rolling Rock on tap. The service was friendly, if a bit slow, but they were totally packed. The Hubster ordered a Santa Fe chicken wrap which he described as «absolutely tasteless». He suggested that they may have boiled the chicken in water. I had the Irish Stew, which was full of flavour, but not in a good way. It was as if they had simmered it uncovered for hours and hours, turning it into an incredibly concentrated stew that was sort of sour and very heavy on the Worcestershire. It was unpleasant, but I managed to eat most of it. The veggies were in giant clumps, almost too big to eat without cutting, and I had to dig around to find the morsels of beef and lamb. I immediately regretted not ordering the burger. All in all, the place seems like a decent, comfy pub to hang out in, and their beer selection was decent, but take a pass on the food.
