This was our first B&B experience — we’d never stayed in one before. It isn’t luxuriously appointed, it isn’t a spa-like experience, but it is a B&B full of character, charm, many interesting things to look at, and host Geoffrey Pimblett, who is warm, welcoming, and charming. We stayed in the Library Room, which is on the main floor, and full of books as the name would imply. It has its own bathroom. We met other guests at breakfast and had a wonderful time engaging in conversation with them, getting to know them, and were also entertained by John, the cook, who is full of information about Toronto, local attractions, the history, and what’s happening there. He also whips up a mean breakfast, made to order! The price, especially for downtown Toronto, is very reasonable. If you’re concerned about other reviews that mention drug addicts and prostitutes in the neighborhood, don’t be — we saw nothing of the kind during our weekend stay there, and never felt unsafe! We would, and likely will, stay here again.

This is not your typical B&B: no plush robes or fancy scones. But we had a terrific time with Geoffrey, an eccentric English gentleman who will don a frock for a special occasion, such as Victoria Day. His Victorian Cabbagetown home is filled with STUFF: he appears to collect everything. Spoons, peppermills, uniforms, Agatha Christie novels, taxidermy, anything else you can think of. Breakfasts were delicious and bountiful. His recommendations were always spot on, particularly of the House on Parliament restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable. We will be back.
